Basic Setup for F-15C, just getting started
Flogger23m replied to lockon2015's topic in F-15C for DCS World
To find any of the aircraft/modules you purchased simply place them in the editor and set them flyable. Or launch a mission which has them. None of the FC3 aircraft are "free" aside from the Su-25T. If you did purchase FC3 then do as I said, place one of the FC3 planes in a mission, set as flyable and launch it. A prompt will come up asking for your CD key. Enter your CD key and the game will launch. If that is not working ensure you actually downloaded/installed the FC3 module from the ED website (or Steam). If on the ED site head over to the download/module section. -
Basic Setup for F-15C, just getting started
Flogger23m replied to lockon2015's topic in F-15C for DCS World
The only free planes are the Su-25T and TF-51D. Did you actually purchase FC3? If so, open the mission editor, place on of the FC3 aircraft as "player" and launch. The game will ask you for your CD key. Enter it. There are some missions by default but I never played them. With DCS you essentially make your own missions or download missions made by others. -
And how much more money does an AFM require over an SFM? I'd think going from simple to complex avionics + fully clickable cockpit would be a massive cost jump as well. I can see FC3 planes going for $20-30 (depending on aircraft) and still making money. Obviously the level of detail in LOMAC was not as high as FC3, but they did manage to include all of those planes and an entire game for $40 (adjust for inflation). I'm not saying it will be easy or cheap, but I think an "FC3" level plane can be developed and sold for less than a study sim aircraft. Agreed. They can co-exist in the same game. Comparing the same aircraft, FC3 will be notably easier. Clickable cockpits are honestly a massive pain to. It is slow and unintuitive. Things that are easy to figure out in the real world (push in, turn right) are not so obvious when you use a mouse. And example would be the Hawk's weapon arm switch. If I recall, you must remove the cover one way, and then click in a very particular spot to push it in. Simple to do in real life, a pain with a mouse. Add in maneuvering and it is even worse. I think it is better suited to FSX based games in which you fly large airliners in stable flight. If you have a TracK IR then it will be noticeably easier, but still a pain. And most new comers do not have Track IRs. The other issue is as you said, it will depend on the aircraft. A modern plane like the F-15C is easy to fly. You will have a hard time falling out of the sky with it. Compare that to the P-51 or UH-1, both of which are immensely harder to keep control of. The problem is when you go modern, the planes become easier to fly but harder to learn. When you go older, it reverses and becomes hard to fly but simple to understand. FC3 hits a sweet spot between complexity and ease of flight. For new comers or more casual players, you need a middle ground. The Su-25T itself is borderline difficult in terms of flight characteristics. Something that is easy to fly but not too difficult to learn is what you need for attracting newcomers. I know that we can't make everything free, but I think making the MIG-29A free (and charging for the S) would go a long way in attracting new players. Systems wise it is not too complex, and flight wise (doubt this will change much with the AFM) it is also easy.

Not sure about an "FC4" but more products like it are very welcome. More FC3 level (AFM/PFM + simplified avionics) modern era planes (80s-current) would be great. F-16s, Su-35s, MIG-29Ks, Eurofighter, Super Hornets, ect. The current crop of DCS level aircraft are dull for a lot of us. Trainers are nice but are limited when it comes to combat roles and just not as entertaining for joy rides either. WWII does not interest me personally. The problem with more modern DCS level aircraft that they are hard to model due to lack of information and also extremely difficult to learn (think Falcon 4). For most of us who can't dedicate 6-8 hours a day they are sadly out of reach due to time limitations. I know a lot of former FC1/2 players that have not bought DCS modules because they are not interested in the aircraft or don't have the time to learn extremely complex games. "FC" planes are hard to learn, but not out of reach for most. This can also help drive sales (can learn more planes and therefore buy them). That is the main reason I am not picking up stuff like the MIG-15/F-86 aside from the lack of content for them. I'd buy them for around $3-5, but not going to spend more on something I'll fly in a few skirmishes before going back to the FC3 planes. I hope ED & possibly a 3rd party studio or two starts pumping out some modern FC3 level planes. We have studios out there focusing on WWII, helicopters, trainers and a few doing semi modern fighters. Another studio diversifying would be nice.

Windows 7 64bit. Will be moving to Windows 10 64bit eventually, before the free upgrade expires. Was hoping around Black Friday when SSDs would go on sale, but the prices are still so high for 1TB models.

DCS needs mandatory unified keyboard controls
Flogger23m replied to 159th_Falcon's topic in DCS Wishlist
Agreed entirely. Currently it is a mess. 3rd party developers should be required to adhere to it as well. Avionics can become a bit more tricky, although they should follow a similar idea and standardize when possible. For example, the FC3 aircraft an KA-50 both require a two button combination to open the canopy. But the key combination is different. There is no reason for them to be different and it makes me forget how to open the canopy (using the mouse is a pain in the KA-50, and isn't possible in FC3). If the landing gear is only a single button press, it should be G. Not Page Down or something else. On a slightly related topic, developers need to start making some default profiles for the common HOTAS systems to. Currently most are entirely unmapped. -
I asked about this some years back and no one responded to the thread. I would hope it is added in personally. Adds some extra rockets which is helpful. The A-10 & Su-25s are nice, but I like to use fast attack aircraft occasionally.

1) B assuming it is a multirole and the C variant isn't, but both would be nice. So if only one, option B. If both are possible, then option C. 2) B 3) C 4) A

Q: Does ED plan to release texture templates for the Su-33 & MIG-29A/S/G (when new model is finished)? Q: Do the MIG-29 improvements cover all the current variants?

DCS: World 2.0 Q&A with Matt Wagner - 19 July 2015
Flogger23m replied to Bunyap's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I never make the Streams, but if someone is watching the next one would they care to ask these questions? - Does ED plan to release texture templates for the Su-33 & MIG-29A/S/G (when new model is finished)? - Do the MIG-29 improvements cover all the current variants? I would really appreciate if someone could ask those questions. I would myself, but doubt I'll be at the next live stream. -
32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron "Wizard" for F-15C
Flogger23m replied to Flogger23m's topic in DCS Modding
Going to update this thread with my latest skin. By the time ED approved of the last one I had completed another. This one is the Razgriz scheme from Ace Combat 5. I added the red strip on the top to give it more color and because official remakes of the skin in Ace Combat 6 ect. feature them. They did not actually appear in Ace Combat 5... so consider this a combination of the original & new versions. Download here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1446980/ I'm going to get to that eventually. -
32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron "Wizard" for F-15C
Flogger23m replied to Flogger23m's topic in DCS Modding
Thanks. Feel free to check the download section for my latest skin. ;) This one took a few days to upload and I finished it a few days before, so by the time it was approved I had finished another. Might do a prototype Yellow Squadron skin next, or Rot Team, or a real Su-27 skin for a change. Problem is finding one I like that isn't already done... with good references. -
A livery inspired by the Wizard squadron from the game Ace Combat zero: The Belkan War. Actual Wizard Squadron flew a variety of aircraft; this livery is based off of the YF-23 version. Feel free to download it here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1446910/ Enjoy splashing some bandits with it.

I have silently uploaded an update to Pack 1, as one of the colors was off. I accidentally made the wing strips green when they should be black. It should look like this now: If anyone can download Macross/Robotech Skull Squadron Liveries (VF-1 pack 1) for DCS World/Flaming Cliffs 3: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1445710/ and confirm the change was uploaded that would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling you were using the pen tool. That must take a long time. Keep up the good work.

Nice work so far. May I ask how you trace over the emblems? It turned out great in this example.

Thanks! Would look a bit odd on the A-10. If I have time and there is a template, I might consider doing them on Leatherneck's F-14.

I have recently uploaded a variety of VF-1 Valkyrie inspired liveries for the F-15C. These liveries are based off of Macross SDF/Robotech & Macross DYRL. VF-1S Skull Leader, Roy Fokker: VF-1A/S, Hikaru Ichijyo: VF-1A/S, Max Jenius: VF-1A, Hayao Kakizak: VF-1J Vermillion Leader, Rich Hunter: VF-1A Serial Production: VF-1J, Max Sterling: VF-1J, Miriya Sterling: The downloads come in two packs: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1445710/ http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1445711/ I also have plans to finish the remaining two members of the Vermillion Squadron, make a Serial Production scheme with USAF markings and possibly make a VF-1D color scheme. Those would be released in a third pack. Feel free to download & try them out. Thanks for looking.

I am trying to edit the color of the Su-27 pylons & ECM. Nothing I do seems to work. New sorbcija ECM looks like the following when it should be yellow: http://i.imgur.com/QhXh36P.jpg And obviously there are other errors. Any way to fix either of these? I only have Photoshop CS2 and Notepad, so it editing these parts requires higher end software I am out of luck. Any ideas on what to add to the .lau description file and how to edit/save the files for the sorbcija & pylons would be helpful.

Hello all. I have recently completed another set of Ace Combat liveries, the Grabacr 229th Tactical Fighter Squadron and 8492nd Squadron from Ace Combat 5 & Zero. 8492nd Squadron (Osean Air Defense Force, Ace Combat 5 era): Grabacr 229th Tactical Fighter Squadron (Belkan Air Force, Ace Combat Zero era): http://i.imgur.com/I5fm3Dc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/3DP4zlu.jpg Both come in a single download. Download here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1432864/ Enjoy. :)

I am not so sure multi crew planes will work very well. I do not trust the AI. Once you get to FC3 levels there is just too much to manage or rely on an AI to do. Multiplayer can work, but again this has the same issues as the study sim level. Getting another player to play at the times you are online is a pain. Getting your friends (or random people who are competent) to join the same server for an hour or so is difficult enough. Having someone go afk briefly is bad. Even worse when they're my pilot. Constantly switching between cockpits when offline will be too difficult. And again, I don't trust the AI.

I would be far more interested in FC3 level aircraft from the modern era than any other type of product. Going to DCS levels of a modern fighter is too difficult for myself. I would probably learn most of the functions but forget them as I switch to other aircraft or take a break for playing. The FC3 level is complex yet is relatively accessible. I am also not too interested in WWII. I'd be very interested in an FC3 level Eurofighter, F-18, F-16, Su-35, Mirage 2000 ect.

Would be a fun plane to fly.
