I've been waiting for this feature for many years. Even ArmA lacks it. Jane's USAF had it back in 1999, and it allowed me to easily place objects precisely. Making bases, encampments, or placing a static plane inside of a hanger was extremely easy. Glad to see DCS is adding it.

AFM for both MIG-29 & Su-33? Sounds great. I assume this carries over to all MIG-29 variants. Are there any differences in the cockpits between the A & S? Looking forward to these updates. Very good news as far as I am concerned. I knew there would be another delay for DCS World 2. Too bad. Hopefully we'll see the FC3 updates before it is released then.

Via Task Manager. Had to try it 5-6 times and exit the program a few times. Eventually it sorted itself out. :thumbup: One other question. Is there a way to unlock the view from having a center? Makes viewing certain parts a bit difficult as by default the camera just focuses on the center.

I can't figure out how to load it anymore. Worked fine for a few weeks until today. Now it doesn't load... the two tabs open in the task bar, the .bat runs, but the actual window to view the model never appears. My video card does clock up as does my CPU meaning it is running at least partially. How do I fix this? Don't want to keep DCS open because that is more of a pain and the recent build crashes every other time you load it.

Working on some Macross SDF / Robotech & Macross DYRL skins. I will probably release them if there is interest. I plan to fill the squadrons and do all of the major color schemes. What I have so far: VF-1S Skull Squadron, Pilot Roy Fokker: VF-1A standard production: VF-1A/S Skull Squadron, Pilots Hikaru Ichijyo & Max Jenius (DYRL schemes): VF-1J Vermilion Leader, Pilot Rick Hunter Have some of the others in progress already.

Cut scene mentions the "Yellow 13" on the tail, but even in the actual cut scene there is no large "Yellow 13" on the tail. You can view them on youtube. It was as close as I could get given the Su-27 lacks canards. As ED has not created an Su-33 template I have not made one for the Su-33. Once it becomes available via ED or someone else I will port it the skin over to the Su-33. Sorry for the slight hijack.

Working on some liveries/skins and the final thing I need to work on are the pilots. One skin is for the F-15, the other for the Su-27. I am wondering where I can find the templates for the pilots for both of these planes? If there are no templates, how must I edit them? I have Photoshop CS2 & DXTBmp (can also use GIMP). For the time being, my F-15 livery has "warning missing text" errors where the patches should be. I noticed that the 19th Fighter SQN (AK) livery that ships with DCS has a pilot with no patches. How would I be able to assign this pilot to my livery? Flaming Cliffs 3 is the best to start. The study sim level are considerably harder to master so I recommend FC first to ease into it.

That would have to be an entirely different game, and require a different engine. EDGE would look atrocious at ground level. Graphics aside, there are many technical things that would likely have to be added to the engine. Even doing basic BF/CoD style infantry would require a lot of work. Its not a matter of plopping in a 3D model or two. Even ArmA 3 is rather lacking from an infantry perspective. In short, probably never. And they shouldn't bother because the result wouldn't be worth playing either.

No. Just like going from Vista to 7 to 8.1. No difference in frame rates. DX12 won't help DCS because DCS is a DX9 game. If we are lucky we will have a DX11 version of DCS out by the end of the year long after DX12 is released. DX12 would probably help DCS but I don't see the engine being upgraded to DX12 anytime in the next few years given how long it has taken ED to create a DX11 engine. For games that support DX12 you may see a small performance increase. Depends on the kind of game and how well it uses DX12. DX12 probably won't become the norm for a while, so there is no reason to rush to Win 10 if you're happy with 7.

keefyboy, thanks for the template. Just one quick question. I am new to Photoshop (I have CS2) and have a question. When I disable the grey background layer everything is checkered. This makes it a bit difficult to see the lines/details and tell what area I am looking at. This also happens in GIMP. With the official ED templates when I disable the base colors I can see a clear white background with all the lines, details, rivet layers, ect. making it easy to create a color scheme. Just wondering if there is a way to remove the checkered background?

Thanks, got it to load & imported my livery. How would I load individual animations? Edit: Also can't seem to mount textures anymore. Did it the first time. Is there a readme for how to apply textures aside from the default one?

Thinking of making a new livery for DCS and decided to try the Eagle Dynamics ModelViewer.exe located in Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin. How am I supposed to use it? Clicking on the .exe files does absolutely nothing. Is there something else I am supposed to download?

The F-4's Soviet counterpart is the MIG-23. Going up in a MIG-21Bis would not be very fun. Some surely won't mind, but for those who like to play against humans and have it be relatively fair for the two won't be happy. I suppose a Mirage 3/5, F-5E, and F-104 are probably better counterparts if you are trying to make it more equal to both players. -
Many of areas are still present that were in LOMAC. As mentioned, it was updated with FC which also added multiple seasons. Then DCS KA-50 expanded the terrian, and that is when the older area was removed. This was carried over to FC2, and further expanded in DCS World.

Going to post since I upgraded some months back. I am now running an MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G. DX12 supported from what I understand. Sadly, by the time DCS World 2 comes out (I am not counting the Alpha/beta), DX12 will be about to release if it had not already. DX12 would be nice for DCS since even DCS 2 does not seem to take advantage of multicore setups. DX12 will offload onto the GPU more, and seeing that DCS is CPU straining, I think that would be a good thing. Not sure how hard it would be to port DCS 2 to DX12, but I would certainly like them to go for it when they can. -

Fair enough; each to their own. I just finished a livery for the Su-27. Still new to Photoshop and I am trying to learn some new things. If ED had the Su-33 template out I would have made this skin for the Su-33, which is far more appropriate than the 27. Thread here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=140382 I would also like to make MIG-21 skins, but also, no template for that. Sadly Leatherneck claims they will wait until DCS 2 to release one. I will admit though, I only "played" DCS a few times these past few months. I too am waiting for the new engine, and what I hope are lots of updates to AI and whatnot. -

Recently finished making a livery based off of Yellow 13's color scheme from Ace Combat 04 Shattered Skies. I will make one for the Su-33 when ED gets around to releasing a template for it. Issues when using custom textures

Edit: Fixed my issue. The lines: {"su27_detail", 0 ,"Su27_detail_SD",false}; {"su27_detail_compos", 0 ,"Su27_detail_SD",false}; Cause problems. The description.lau should look like the following: Replace Su27_tex01_SD through Su27_tex07_SD with the name of your files. Thanks for the help everyone.
