Buy Flaming Cliffs 3 as it is a better value. Start with the FC3 aircraft, F-15C being the easiest, before going to a full DCS level aircraft.

I want a Hawk. Thank you for the giveaway cichlidfan and VEAO. Good luck to the winner.

EDGE may come out before the new terrains. So while we might get EDGE this month, Nevada might not be released for another few months. It looks like the new maps are having the most difficulty. With the whole map team working on Nevada I think we can safely assume Straits will not be released this year.
-
It looks great up close, but at a distance it certainly looks off. The detail in the current map on the current engine maintains sharpness at a further distance. It might be a WIP graphic engine or the map itself. Or both. But it certainly does look very blurry at distance to me.
-
This is a problem with many aircraft. The F-16 and F-15E also have similar problems. I believe the MIG-31 does to. I am not sure if these aircraft have been corrected though.
-
Careful; I upset quite a number of people saying the same thing in another thread. It is WIP but considering this issue has remained since we first saw EDGE screen shots and with December only having 25 days left, I fear it will be delayed yet again. This is no small issue and if they can fix it in the next 3 weeks then that would be great. But that, IMO, is certainly a reason to hold the game back because it would be game breaking bad.
-
It certainly does look terrible at a distance compared to just about any flight game released in the past decade. Including the current terrian/engine in DCS. I already acknowledged it is WIP and even speculated the AA/AF isn't implemented in engine yet. So what was the point of your post? To deny the WIP screen shots of the terrian do not look blurry, or to tell me to make a post like I already did? But side with the hostile toned fellow who tells people to play other games because your comments are not over the top brown nosing. You would think on a forum for a flight sim there could be a more mature, honest discussion about the updates opposed to rabid fanboy type responses.
-
It is not whining, it is called a comment. Not all comments need to be sugar laced and full of fluff. I am just commenting that the terrian, so far, looks terrible. I realize it is WIP but that doesn't change the fact that it looks terrible in the screen shots shown so far. Do not like factual comments? Shoot your modem and router, and never sign onto the internet ever again. Now, why don't you brush up on your grammar since it is severely lacking. I don't care if you are from Hungary either. It would be far more beneficial for the DSC community than requiring me to playing "flanker2" or "falcon".

I would hope so. Frankly, the terrian looks awful at distance in all of the EDGE screen shots released so far. Everything looks like a smudge terrian wise. Maybe AA/AF isn't working properly either.

In my recent experience, faster than Steam. Steam has slowed down as of late. I got around 5-6MB/S just now.

The point is that DCS World 2.0 has likely been delayed yet again. With four weeks left and holidays starting (time off for ED employees?) in 2014, and another non-2.0 beta coming which will be here "for a while" the chances are pretty slim. The open betas tend to last one week, although sometimes less and sometimes more. A lot of people will be disappointed that 2.0 and the new terrians (previously announced for 2014) are likely going to be delayed again. My hope is that ED has been testing 2.0 to the point it is very stable and there is no open beta. In which case, the possibility of a release is a bit more possible as the open beta process tends to take a week or so.

I'll enter myself. I'll upload a drawing when I can.

It came from the original LOMAC. It has its decade + old 3D model and skin still.

There can be a few downsides: 1) Possibly less of a focus on combat based features. Civil only players will not care for the ability to create loadouts for AI tanks, or more tweaking for armored vehicles ability to track and hit fighter aircraft, or the modelling of war ship counter measure systems. Civil traffic and other support systems mainly centered around civil airports will be their top priority. Which group will ED cater to? 2) ED has limited resources. Even if they had more money, they would need more competent developers, possibly a studio relocation to support this expansion, ect. Maybe they will be able to support combat aviation fans even better while support a growing civil aviation aspect to DCS. But it would not be surprising if they can't. BIS can not even accomplish multiple areas with any decent fidelity with ArmA despite having a larger player base (and likely much more sales). 3) Splitting of the MP community. Payware maps are a problem. Not everyone will have all of the maps even if the average forum member does. More than likely, the forum regulars are not in the majority. This becomes a problem if you are casually trying to play online and are not part of a dedicated group. Add in other features, like addon ATC, addon civil traffic expansions, ect. and the game will end up like FSX. Most FSX players wouldn't be able to play online with each other because they are essentially running a unique version of their game with many different addons ranging from terrian, clouds, traffic, and more. Planes which are viewable/playable as AI only to everyone and only controllable to those who bought them is one thing. Quickly opening a mission and plopping down a plane they do have is rather easy. Getting everyone else to figure out what type of clouds, civil traffic, other ect. addons they have to enable/disable is much more time consuming. ** Third point talks more about 3rd party addons branching out and making addons that are not flyable aircraft than civil aviation. Only reason I included it is because these types of addons seem very popular in FSX.

Does installing the Su-27 and F-15 module over FC3 take up any additional SSD/HDD space aside from the image file and music? I am very low on my free SSD space and don't want to unnecessarily waste it. Would it be possible to just download the music, background image, and .lau file while creating the necessary folders?

DX12 would probably be helpful for DCS. It offloads work from the CPU and puts more load on the GPU. Seeing that DCS, even with EDGE, appears to use single core CPUs only this can be helpful. DX11 itself is rather old; from 2009. While it is a big jump from DX9 I wouldn't be surprised if DX11 to 12 turns out to be just as big of a jump. Obviously though DX12 is not out. Perhaps in the next "major version" of DCS we can get DX12 support added. And maybe they can add multicore CPU support. Flight sims heavily rely on the CPU so I am sure multicore support would make DCS run better, especially in missions with lots of AI units. *I assume ED has not added multicore support to EDGE, as they have never mentioned it anywhere.

Are there any plans on an "FC3 level" version of this product? PFM, 6 DoF cockpit, but simplified avionics? If so, I would buy it.

I am looking to sell a few items. My heatware for reference: http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=76214 Hardware: 1) MSI GTX 670 PE/OC graphics card. Includes all original accessories. I have had zero issues with it. As fast as a GTX 680, although runs very cool and quiet. Works great for DCS World. Price: $155 USD. Buyer pays shipping. Will only ship within the US. 2) MSI GTX 670 PE/OC graphics card. Includes all original accessories. Zero issues with this either. Price: $155 USD. Buyer pays shipping. Will only ship within the US. Buy both of these graphics cards and I'll also throw in a copy of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Buying both will also reduce the overall shipping costs. If you buy both before the 20th I'll throw in a free copy of Metro 2033 as well. PC Games: 1) Far Cry 4. This game activates on Uplay. I have two of these. Price: $40 each. 2) Assassin's Creed Unity This game activates on Uplay. I have two of these. Price: $40 each. Send me a private message for offers and questions. Thank you for looking!

I do not need the icons as they just add clutter when I already have FC3, but the option of having the wallpapers and background music for the F-15, Su-27, ect. would be wonderful. I would like to change it to the Su-27. :)
-
That would be my hope to. Discount them a good amount so everyone can pick them up while they're cheap.
-
I would hope it is lower in price, for the sake of online compatibility with random players (lower price = more copies sold more than likely). Given that DCS has a rather international community compared to most games it may be hard to find locals with all the same modules. Even games like BF3/4 have low populations on the DLC maps where as the base game has no shortage of players. Same issue on my end.

My entries: Thank you for hosting the giveaway f-18hornet!
-
You won't gain anything as they're the same aircraft. But you can always give them to a friend, or host a giveaway here on the forums. The F-15C would be an excellent way to get a friend who doesn't have a flight sim a chance to get started. Much more forgiving than the Su-25T or TF-51D.
-
F-15C at $3 is an excellent price to get someone new to flight games started. I'd buy 2-3 copies for friends but I simply don't have the money at the moment.
