  1. Yeah I thought about that, but in the end I settled on the $130 Kindle because its perfect for books, and at that price I won't think twice about upgrading to something bigger with colour later down the track when the technology is a bit more mature.
  2. I like the Kindle but its not really suited to this sort of thing. The manual would have to be reconfigured so that you don't have to zoom and whatnot, and ideally would use a format like .mobi.
  3. The G930, like the G35, is advertised as having 7.1 surround sound but the only difference is the G930 is wireless. Most of the headsets I've had have died due to problems with the wires becoming fatigued, obviously that won't be a problem with this one. I'll probably be saving money in the long run! The manual says that it only has around a 10m range by memory, however there's nowhere in my house that I don't pick up a strong signal. I love the sound quality, some say its not the optimum headset for music for instance and I'm sure that's true given the range of headsets designed for that use (although I find it more than satisfactory for music too), but for gaming and movies they're fantastic. I first tested them out on Lionel Charlet's Ice Hornets - was absolutely blown away, felt like I was at an airshow. :smilewink:
  4. Yeah I used to have the Zalman 5.1 but in the end one side died due to fatigued wires. I'm now using the G930 wireless headset. Sound quality is tons better and of course, don't have to worry about cords! Battery life is 10-11 hours, so recharging isn't bad and you can use them whilst charging (you've just got to put up with a cord plugged in - like any other headset).
  5. To quote Mower, "meh". DCS A-10 has great weapons simulation ;)
  6. Where are you going to get an acrylic dome of 15-20 diameter? I've been looking at large skylights as seen in that vid but I can't even find them that big!
  7. The panel looks awesome mounted w/switches. Great work!
  8. I've always loved the quality of CH sticks, they just won't ever let up. I used my old one for over 10 years without a problem. The only gripe, however, is the joystick movement. Moving from forward to aft or left to right you feel a really significant jump which irritates me somewhat.
  9. Konkussion, waive off! ;)
  10. You can't master the spitfire without fighting in it  In all seriousness, looks pretty cool and I'd be interested if it were in a combat sim. The only thing that will get me back to FSX planes is hyper-real FJs, and even then I yearn to drop some GBUs.
  11. Nice vid. Problem is its only half a plane without the ability to fight in it ;)
  12. Falcon enthusiasts will laugh at those modern sims.
  13. I've had that problem wolf rider. Does the joystick sometimes jerk backward then forward violently for no reason? Happens to me occasionally.
  14. Yeah it would be great if the throttle was more accurate, mine jumps by up to 3% if I remember rightly. Makes refuelling a bit of a chore sometimes.
  15. I got the G940 because I had an old crappy joystick and I needed everything - stick, throttle and pedals. Can't get anything better for the price, and I wasn't about to buy the warthog when I don't like the A-10, and I still wouldn't have rudder pedals. There are some gripes, but overall its not bad.
  16. Has anyone thought of trying the PSOne screen? You can score one off ebay cheap and from what I've seen they would be easy to interface with your pc. Maybe a little big for your cougar, but it might be a winner for other cockpits with bigger screen requirements. I'd be interested to know if anyone has given it a shot.
  17. I'd suddenly become very fond of unusual attitude recovery practice ;)
  18. The only problem is, the fighter jet crowd do not yet have a realistic sim of a Russian jet. Call me old school, but I'd love to see the MiG-21 make it into DCS. Having said that, I'd enjoy a modern one as well.
  19. I think you guys need to spend more time in a quiet, elegant bird. Still has the addictive properties! ;)
  20. Oh my goodness this looks awful. The graphics look great, but their "mix and match" planes are an absolute abomination and writes off the value of this "sim".
  21. The clouds don't look terribly realistic in that vid.
  22. I bet I will! No better place to spend polygons than on a Hornet.
  23. The polygons are strong with this one ;)
  24. The IRIS PC-9 is nice (and by extension, probs the Texan aswel). I like flying the military trainers, but if I want to fly a combat jet on my pc I use a combat sim. Why would you opt to fly a version in FSX that cannot simulate a great deal of it's capability?
  25. 20 FPS isn't running well, you'd want 30 at least which still isn't good for baseline play. CE3 is much more efficient but its still going to spike, eg. when you drop those JDAMs on a building that blows to pieces with Crysis physics. With such a dynamic engine, your computer will be taxed according to how you use it. I run Warhead on high at 35 fps and it generally doesn't dip far below that, but if I run into someone or a building at full speed in a car things will suddenly slow down significantly (for instance). CE3 is better, but this will still occur to a degree. I'm not saying it can't be done but a pc of today would have to be quite powerful especially if you were intending to include things like additional screens for your MFDs.
