  1. Real pylotes don't sit in front of a monitor to fly.
  2. Shoutout to this guy who came up with a very elegant screenshot by having a clever composition. You were robbed by the MFD Hornet mafia. I see you bro.
  3. It's a script that makes a secondary explosion happen after the initial munition has gone off. It makes weapons more effective but there is an argument to be made that it makes things too easy. The only particular DCS-ism about it is that when the secondary explosion goes off, via the script, then the player does not get credit for the kill. This may not be a problem for you because there aren't stats here but then again the skill level of this server is generally a bit higher so it may not even be necessary. Everything is configurable. If you are curious, I am happy to send you what we have on ECW, you can tweak things down if you want. It does not require any real scripting, its just changing values and we have already set ours up so it can be plug to play if you like the values that we use. If you do end up using it, you may have to change out some of your missions slightly so things are not so close or you make the value smaller so the bomb radius is not so over done. I personally change my opinion on it every other day. Sometimes I think its great, sometimes I think it is a bit too much.
  4. One question about the credit accumulation. Will it be a lump sum delivered to each player at the 5 hour mark, or is it an even distribution of 50 credits across 5 hours? I just ask because the cadence of that distribution will be interesting in terms of how the ebb and flow of certain planes will appear in the server.
  5. Having you run Alpens discord is one of the worst decisions ever made here. We are actively helping you, yet, you bite the hand that feeds. @Alpenwolf if you ever need help with discord feel free to reach out. You shouldn't have to deal with this guy for every little thing. I am more than willing to build you a discord and hand you the keys. I could do it in thirty minutes. Additionally, I am sure a lot of more emotionally stable veterans of the scene would be willing to moderate it for you. Dawger is infamous for being a rager and putting him in a position if power is simply a bad idea. I spoke with his squad mates and they basically all confirmed his temperament makes him unwilling to ever bend. This is just a bad recipe for something to blow up later.
  6. Troops? No. Pilots? Yes. They both will not find their way home unless you pick them up. We have thought about adding attrition to the troops but more to come.
  7. We haven't really made any major changes to our slotblocker in over a year.
  8. By track files you mean the local replays that are saved in your dcs folder? If so, we aren't (and can't afaik) do anything to stop you from getting those. So if they are not populating then I am not sure why?
  9. While some pilots look at MFDs when they fly, they have to use their eyes (not screens) when they spot in real life. We use screens in DCS to spot.
  10. I would just like to share not my perspective but the general vibe that I have seen from the multiplayer side. While there is only a dozen or so pages on this thread, there are thousands of interactions per day on discord which is not really captured here. In general, the feedback, from what I have seen, on the spotting changes has been overwhelmingly positive. The few people who seem to be opposed to the new spotting are people using a nascent technology (VR). As this is the first version of this and the few negative response seem to be centered with some VR people, it looks like we are moving in the right direction. Once this is solved for VR, then it should be in a good spot for everyone, including the few players on VR. What we had previous was simply unacceptable for spotting for a sim in 2023. What we had before was the worst spotting system out of any sim on the market. This is a step in the right direction and it's the first step to fix it.
  11. They are coming back in the next patch. We are going to be making them based on player credits to call in. So they will be more dynamic and not based on a clock
  12. Celebrate Core Changes Nice to see this in the patch notes
  13. It appears that if there are enough EWRs in a mission that it will not allow for RWRs to prioritize and a MiG-21 R-3R launch will be masked and not give any sort of launch warning.
  14. The other theory is that maybe EWRs are somehow flooding RWRs and not letting new things pop up. Which can be tested. But right now it is not easily or reliably reproducible. RWR deadzones and/or general multiplayer desync could be just the issue. Curious if this will happen with other planes. If people do have it happen in a flight they should post their logs as that will help.
  15. We tested this with single core vs multicore, locally hosted vs dedicated server and cold start vs hot starts and found that launch warnings do occur. We suspect this is related to RWR deadzones on the F-5. Other should test to validate.

  17. DCS is a "free-to-play digital battlefield game." according to the DCS page on Steam. One of the two free to play planes is not even full fidelity. This mix of fidelity is already part of the game. I hope ED decides to bake MAC into the current game and not fragment the playerbase between two games.
  18. This is why I mentioned specifically about the depths of system that need to be modeled and not just clicky clicky
