  1. Here's a track of my attempt at a single connection refuel. I took on 8k, then the Tanker told me to Disconnect, so I disconnected. This was before I realized that the Tanker should respond "Transfer Complete". I was in parameters and taking fuel, so I don't understand why the Disconnect response? It looked topped off to me, maybe a few hundred lbs shy. Flt-Refuel.trk
  2. I thought that we are the community, since we fly the most advanced, state of the art sims out there and it doesn't sound like P-51 will have an arcade mode to draw console players. Of course there's the FSX-ers and X-Planers, but they're probably all here, too. :)
  3. I believe the "Bears" are still modeled? That would probably be the equivalent in the current environment, or a formation of AN-26's. :D
  4. That's a great point. I flew with a Virtual Navy org on Vatsim and we started flying T-34's out of KNQI, then graduated to T-45's until finally strapping on the Superhornet after completing the requirements and training.
  5. it's too soon to tell if we'll have period maps and objects, but it doesn't look too promising. I think the main concern s how it will be incorporated into the current shared environment. .
  6. That one Cat almost did a "Goose" spin. ". As long as they don't shoot back with anything that is radar or IR guided.
  7. I also noticed a big message that mucks up both MFD's after an abort, forgot what it reads, What is the best way to reset that? Select a different weapon, clear the inventory? I think I jettisoned it which I believe took care of it.
  8. When I think of a shared environment, I think of this ... [Youtube]Uam4i6OksEY&feature=related It would be interesting to add a couple of AI Flankers to make an escort mission a little more interesting :D
  9. Anyone know when and where this happened and what AC was engaging?
  10. I don't get this one.. I want WW2 scenery, not just a WW2 plane! Obviously we'll have WWII theaters, A/C, bombers, ground vehicles and everything to recreate our favorite battles .. e.g., Bulge, Peenemunde, D-Day, and escort missions up the ying yang. (In addition to visible birds, how about some deer, a la Jane's WWII fighters? ) ;)
  11. I've also noticed a slight pitch up when I switch guns to safe, deactivating PAC, it's kind of a neat detail.
  12. No problem with the Mustang, however I'm curious at what spurred its development. Was there some kind of consensus or poll in the Flight Sim community to gauge it's popularity and marketing potential?
  13. I would assume the best thing to do in MP is call or Text for an emergency landing. If AI is around, do a field check (if able) and see where the traffic is, cut em off if you have room. I'm sure they'll go around. ;) eta: When you're calling or texting in MP, be sure to give the runway direction. I've seen a few folks taking off and landing the wrong direction that ATC designates.
  14. Still trying to wrap my head around this. I think we need to set the altimeter to airfield elevation in DCS. I think I got that. Now we're given target elevation information by JTAC or the briefing. Now In the case of dynamic weather we might have a different pressure setting over the target area. I haven't played around with JTAC much, but do we really need to readjust the altimeter at this point? I don't recall if JTAC gives us pressure over the target area so not sure if it's even modeled.
  15. Is this still the case with 1.1.1.1? Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong, popping the speed brake on approach. Maybe I can shut up the wingie for once, and that he'll actually land with me.
  16. I used to fly Janes WWII Fights until recently. Loved recreating the Battle of the Bulge scenarios with massive Tank battles. It was fun taking my P-47 down for some really close, close air support.
  17. That's what the "armored bathtub" is for. CAS can bring you down into the weeds and possibly even in sniper range.
  18. I always thought that those canopies were flak or shrapnel resistant. Guess not.
  19. Great information. The amount of detail you guys have with weapons delivery is awesome,. Now if I can just get the ripple intervals figured out. lol.
  20. Where's the hook and arresting cable when you need it? :D eta: The gliderport that I used to frequent had a barbed wire fence at the end of the runway (yeah, the airfield was on a ranch), and I've seen a couple of gliders that landed long, and the nose resembled something that went through a tomato slicer. Obviously touch and go's were not an option.
  21. I noticed if there is a strong headwind and I apply full airbrakes on touchdown, I've had to struggle to keep the tail from dragging. I believe the initial flare was not more than 10 degrees. Is this normal physics behavior? I'm guessing if the CG it is toward the rear (engines), it may be normal. I'll try to post a track next time.
  22. Was the CDU turned on, initialized, and "Load All" selected in the MFD?
  23. I've been thinking about putting together a Fleet vs Fleet mission (ships only) and observe the outcome. :D
  24. Any decent carrier group would have their fleet defense fighters airborne. Good luck in a solo A-10. ;)
  25. Thanks, it's very helpful.
