I hope 1:st for Su-22 then Mig-23/25, but even if they are planned or in development (4:th unknown project). It's gonna be a long, long, loooooong time before we'll see them, I'm afraid!
-
And 800 000 Swedes could be mobilized in 3 days to greet the remaining force of 5000 highly trained USSR marines. No something is wrong with that picture, since Sweden counted on holding of an invasion for 3-4 days until defeated! No way USSR would do this kind of stupid suicide attack with only 5000 men.

Alright thanx for all your inputs  I didn't know that 0G was so critical, thought that 21 didn't like negative G's at all. So it's all good now :)
-
Here's a track. Haven't done repair yet, I'll try it later.
-
Well done Sir! thank you for the pictures & summery  it shows exactly the shortcomings with current visibility/spotting. For me the spotting is the nr:1 deterrent for getting new modules.
-
Both single & MP(F-5 vs Mig-21 server). I can do -2G all day long without flaming out.
-
No particular throttle position. Flying with simplified engine management allays off, tried to recycle from off/on. Looked trough all options. No flameout in MP. Must be something wrong on my end, very strange indeed.
-
Engine is not flaming out during negative G's. (1.5.4.55584 Update 3) I can fly long time in negative G, without any flameout. Anyone else seeing this?

Erratic head moevent during entering translational lift
CoBlue replied to kintaro's topic in Bugs and Problems
I still have it too :( -
Just updated to 1.5.4.55584 Update 3, can't get flood lights to work. If I'm not doing something wrong? It's supposed to be this button rotary right?

"Delfin887 can you please comment if rudder is used in fast rolls? Thank you" "No. Set desired pitch, wait a moment to stabilize. Stick to neutral, rudder neutral, roll without applying +/- pitch. With each AoA pilot adds when roll, the more irregular roll will be + it gets worse with the rolling speed (this is due to increased difference in local AoA on each wing). At small AoA it is hardly noticeable. Needles to say, at near-critical AoA roll can cause one wing to stall." (For you that don't know. Delfin887 is an active Mig-21 pilot, he's the coder of 21's FM & has been with LN from the start.)

We heard that before 1.5 & EDGE too. This thread is 8 months old now! The bad spotting has been discussed for year's now. It's more then enough time to "tweak" something that's a major flaw of DCS! It has never worked satisfactory in multiplayer.
-
The spotting still sucks, even with large model visibility enabled! (1.5.4) Have been flying online the past days & still the same problems, airplanes magically disappear in front of you when spotted & closing in. You want to know why there's no Mig-15 vs Sabre servers anymore?....spotting! The same fate will come to F5e vs Mig-21. When is this going to be fixed???
-
IMHO. The RL Mig-21 is very stable on final approach, due to it's high speed 350-320 Km/h, it's not "sloppy", or unstable at those speeds. The difficulty with landings are associated with poor forward visibility & not instability (that's why the app. speed must be high). I's not difficult to land or fly the 21, it's an honest & simple airplane. No stability difficulties, previous FM was spot on: It was designed with durable landing gear that allows rough takeoffs and landings from ground & beaten snow runways.
-
I think the same about approach & landings: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2846900#post2846900
-
On final approach at 350Km/h fully configured, wing-rocking & roll instability. Hard to keep wings level during approach. Can't get precise control. Very noticeable when flying an PRMG approach in IMC. You end up chasing the needles. Easily bounced landings with pitch up tendencies on touch down. You can't no longer land decisively, it's back to "gentle sail-plane" landings. Also the floating seems exaggerated before touch-down. Very different from previous FM.

Crash while entering the server - log review
CoBlue replied to Pitot's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I had several crashes with latest release, mostly related to fire guns & missiles. -
I can still not do instantaneous fast rolls like here: https://youtu.be/0-cEdwgYdAw?t=9m8s with current FM. With the previous FM like in 2.0 I still can.
-
Really? then I suggest you re-watch the video, coz you are wrong! You can see the time-stamps on the pics.

About AoA dependence & roll rate. Look at https://youtu.be/0-cEdwgYdAw?t=5m12s, the AoA is on the left side of the cockpit, he starts the roll in the yellow band of >20 AoA & makes a pretty fast roll. If you watch the video further you'll see the same. It's not AoA dependent. All of you calming you can achieve fast instantaneous rolls like in the OP videos, please post a track, tacview or video. The 21 is slow now when it comes to turns in a dog fight, the instantaneous roll rate to 90° is very slow, at 6-900km/h. Making it not as agile & maneuverable, compered to previews FM, it's a huge difference. Yes the 21 was not build to be a dog-fighter, but it was a good & agile dog-fighter anyway! read the article Mig-21and fighter maneuverability in today's terms:

Hi, glad to have you here, can you please comment on this topic about roll rate : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=170037 Thanx!
-
1:st Viggen release, then some time after Swedish theatre, that's still the plan right ?
-
Correct. AoA oscillations shouldn't be a factor for rolling the 21. "Delta wing of MiG-21 with sweep of 57 º retains stable airflow to very high angles of attack" Also remember we are talking about high speeds of 7-900km/h. I would really like Dolphin887 to comment on this, as he's the FM coder for LN & an active Mig-21bis pilot.
-
I do know the impotence of rudder. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2653189&postcount=81 Mig-21 with it's swept-wings is a different story, rudder is not as important in BFM. Ok it probably needs some rudder if you fly a steady 20-40° bank, to stay coordinated. Furthermore you linked article is about turns, not fast rolls. Thanx! That was what I was looking for! I totally forgot about the swept-wings....;) "More appropriatly, Most swept wing jets don't use rudder for turns. The amount of drag on the up wing is generally not enough to cause a noticeable adverse yaw. The F-16 does have automatic rudder compensation, but even other jets like the (A)T-38 don't use rudder to coordinate turns. Rudder is not used in swept-wing fighter jets, you pull into a turn" Can we please concentrate on the Mig-21's roll rate now!
