AFAIK as a general rule, you are not supposed to use rudder in a fighter jet in maneuvers, rudder is only used for cross-wind landings.....maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I've heard from many former military pilots I've flown with. Using rudder to roll the Mig-21 sounds strange. With it's short wingspan the 21 should roll much faster that it's doing right now. It's supposed to be agile. I would certainly not call it "close to the real thing" as it is now & I can only achieve high roll authority past M1.0.

All the wonderful mods Bismark, B-17, He-111 are giving "integrity check failure" in MP. (1.5.4) Solution is to remove the mods every time before joining MP. Or any other suggestions?
-
I can't make videos. It's very apparent in the sim how slow the roll rate is.
-
Latest patch 1.5.4. The roll-rate is app. 3-2 times slower then before, the 21 rolls more like a WWII fighter now. At 7-900km/h the slow roll rate is very apparent. What was the reason for dumbing it down? Look at the videos & compare: https://youtu.be/0-cEdwgYdAw?t=9m8s https://youtu.be/0-cEdwgYdAw?t=6m29s A roll with the gear out app. 220°/s.

Telling people to go to FSX to fly approaches is a little over the top! We have a weather engine & last time I checked all military pilots are IFR rated, also allot of flying is done in IMC at least in northern Europe. Seems like you haven't thought of this scenario: The weather is IMC at your airport, but above it's clear & the bandits are coming to bomb your airport....what are DCS pilots supposed to do? sit there & say, we can't scramble coz we can't do an ILS, so we might as well be bombed? Every DCS pilot should at least be able to preform an ILS IMHO. War doesn't care if its bad weather! It would be great if we could limit the weather coverage on the map by distance, so we can have IFR at one airport & clear weather at another.

Now it's the view jumping at landing/take-off & to slow roll-rate, haven't checked the rest. The roll-rate was fine before, now it's 3 times slower, the 21 rolls like a WWII fighter. What was the reason for dumbing it down? Look at the videos & compare: https://youtu.be/0-cEdwgYdAw?t=6m29s A roll with the gear out app. 360°/s.

The roll rate is very slow now, at 8-900km/s it's app. 3 times slower compered to previous version or 2.0. Feels very slow? I don't either have trackIR issues. But Hud view is misplaced in all airplanes. Edit: Her's a fix for the misplaced Hud view: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2822725&postcount=134

Thanx for the explanation, that was exactly what I was looking for  Yeah it looks quite easy indeed. You don't happen to have a good metrics "rules of thumb" online site or PDF for the more complicated stuff?
-
IMO imperial units are better suited for aviation when it comes to quick mental "rules of thumb" calculations (coz it's based on 12 instead of 10) ex: To destination decent calculation, 3° rule. Dist. to start decent = FL ÷3 ex. FL330 ÷3 = 110nm, start descending at 110nm. At what decent rate? Ground speed ÷ 2 x 10, ex. 400 ÷2 (+0) = 2000f/m Check if on dec.prof.? Dist x3 = FL you should be at, ex. you're 50nm from airport, 50 x3 = 150, you should be at FL150. Time to Descend: (Altitude to Lose/Rate of Descent) = Time to Descend There are many more simple "rules of thumb". Now if you think metric is better! please show me a simple decent calculation in metrics? coz I've been trying to find one without any success.

Here you go, all IMC :) https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1459614/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1459727/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1459725/

Viggen hasn't been in active duty for 20 years or so, thus there's no "secrecy" involved in it's capability's. How can you compere Viggen that is no longer in active duty, but still doing airshows, to an F-22 ?
-
If Viggen could do an vertical split-S from 500m & recover at 100m easily (as per article). You guy's don't think this astonishing maneuver would be a given part of every Viggen flight display? Are there any videos confirming this maneuver? "EDIT: the speed in the split-S from 500m was 550-700km/h, according to the pilot."

No there weren't any, just like Cobra said, LN had to make them.

MiG-21 Changelog 1.5.4 Added red cockpit lighting* Added right side white panel spotlight* Corrected several Z-Fighting issues in cockpit artwork* Added missing glow on several switches and levers* I'm wondering if the 2 English Cockpit mods I'm using will still work with those changes? or will the mods ruin the artwork?

Awesome job! THANK YOU, to all of you guy's  WWII missions are so much more fun now with all the wonderful WWII AI additions :)

Any news on the AI He-111 ?
-
All the FC3 airplanes & A10-C, UH-1 can use ILS's in Caucasus map, on all airports, not so realistic but very handy:) I think LN did a good job of giving us many RSBN/PRMG stations for the sake of gameplay. I certainly don't want the Mig-21 being limited to just 4 airports for IMC landings of witch 2 are only from 1 direction! Besides from what I know RSBN could be mobile on trucks & I think PRMG was too or could be easily set up. Please, just leave it as it is now.

Mustang's link is dead. Is the ka50n upgrade still being worked on? It would be very welcomed to add the night capability to the Ka-50:smilewink:.

Erratic head moevent during entering translational lift
CoBlue replied to kintaro's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well the "screen/head erratic" is exactly like in the video, it never goes down to the floor. Always during translational lift to a hover and vice versa, sometimes in other cases like hard maneuvering, "aerobatics", sling-loading.....but definitely related to translational lift. Only Mi-8 is effected by this, all the other modules including Uh-1 are ok. -
Erratic head moevent during entering translational lift
CoBlue replied to kintaro's topic in Bugs and Problems
No, it's not FOV moving guickly related, as I've tested with & without TrackIR. I tested with any FOV movement disabled, just like in the video above, with the FOV completely still & it still happens. The only thing I have mapped on my joystick (X52) related to head movement is "zoom" axis, on a rotary. Everything else regarding head movement on joystick is unmapped as I use TrackIR, see above. -
Erratic head moevent during entering translational lift
CoBlue replied to kintaro's topic in Bugs and Problems
Grate, thanx for answering. Yes, most noticeable during transitional lift, but also when hard maneuvering & sometimes out of the blue. My specs: i7-6700HQ 3.5GHz/ 8GB / GTX960M 2GB -

We can continue the discussion here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2798139#post2798139 since in that thread there are people with this problem. I'll post my specs & QUOTE your post there, so others can chime in. -
Unfortunately this is not working for some of us, although it worked for others. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160499&page=2
