It would certainly add to the immersion, and with the new surround sound engine coming in the latest patch it shows that realistic channeling sound is an interest of ed's. I guess you could specify a certain channel for the headset to be hooked up to, and for those with only 5.1 surround, maybe an option to take one of the channels and dedicate it to headset comms would be nice.

Keep in mind that you don't actually get to see the fuel truck or the ground crew rearming the aircraft, so it's not as amazing as you think, more practical than anything.

I thought maybe it was related to terrain height and changed when it was above/below/ in line with you, but that's just a guess from my observations of it, and I don't know of any radar sensors that are used so I assume it is calculated purely from height maps in the Arbus database.

Has DCS f-18c even been announced officially? All I remember is that crazy paranoia around April fools and radio silence ever since.

Yes!! I love this idea. The titles even sound cool. It's probably already been addressed but it's a great idea to have two comparable but opposing AC of DCS fidelity pitted against each other. The online community would thrive on this and give a full and rich eperience both cooperatively and head to head. The only other feature begging in this series besides this is a different country/theater of war to keep things fresh. My 2c

Ground units looking like Boxes until REALLY close

Try the graphics.Cfg file, somewhere in the lod for ground units maybe, it will have a number somewhere you could increase. It's not advisable to fool with these things without backing the files up tho. -
Some other suggestions: get a bigger monitor and increase your resolution, use the zoom function, use the targeting pod.

I Think some kind of vibration noises which increases as rolling speed increases would improve the immersiveness of the sound. IMO the engine sound is excellent, the only other thing which could be added is wind noise, which would also increase with speed. The thing is, because the engines are so close to the cockpit they would potentially drown out any ambient noises when at full rpm like in takeoff.

So basicay you want the camera view to move WRT newtons laws of motion, specifically his law of inertia, (an object's velocity won't change unless acted upon by an external force). You want the camera to gradually respond to mouse inputs. The camera movement would respond to mouse inputs by turning the mouse movement into a constant velocity, which gradually ramps up as you move the mouse, and as you try to change direction there is a delay caused by the tendency for the camera to continue to move in the direction it was going. IMO this is not impossible but would take some smart coding to implement. I'm not sure if a modder has the capability to create this, maybe an experienced modder could answer this. I like the idea of this, however it would be best implemented in the external camera view.

I like the idea, it sounds easy to implement but as we all know in games, nothing is as easy to implement as it sounds. I like the idea of the commander reassigning waypoints and objectives on the fly in response to intel about the opposing force, however the problem would be that a typical admin may not be tactically experienced enough to setup appropriate tasking to air units. What would be even cooler is if ground troops could be commanded to perform a certain objective, and in response to a required CAS need the JTAC would send messages to the commander who could then pass on info to a-10 units to contact the jtac on whatever frequency for further tasking. -
AFAIK, the a-10c doesn't use rotaries for trimming, it uses a hat switch. Additionally, I have found in fc2 that using the rotaries on the stick base of the g940 is more difficult to trim for straight and level flight than using the hat. Thirdly, it is not possible to trim using the rotaries on the stick while flying with both hands on, which means it is very difficult to fly and trim at the same time, which is the reason we use a hotas in the first place, so we can maintain control of the aircraft while manipulating essential systems such as the trim. I suggest you use a hat switch, I use the d pad on the stick. If you haven't already check out red's g940 profile in the controller section of a-10c tech support. It is almost perfect for this stick.

It just means you really have to make your shots count. Just a question, but what is the role of the f-18 when it comes to carrier ops? It's not really an air superiority aircraft, and it doesn't seem to have the ordinance you would want for an interdiction role, so mainly defensive?

I had the same thing happen today in fc2, 104th server. Luckily he left soon after everyone started abuse him, but it really would be nice to have a voting system for tk'ers. I can forgive the occasional accidental tk where they don't know friend from foe but after a while it gets frustrating.

Some kind of ability to chat with others outside of the game would be really great, and I know you'll probably say, just use an IM, but you really can't get the same sense of community that way. I miss having a common area where people can chat, organize things, and meet new people. That's not to say we can't do without it, but it would really help to unite the community.

A little over the top there sobek, I was trying to give a few creative thoughts, it was in no way intended to downplay the amazing work that the Ed dev's do to bring us this fabulous simulation. One can dream can't he? Or only in the wishlist threads? -

How many pylons does it have? What's the measurement between the main landing gear? How long does it take to align it's nav system? Single or dual rudder? Vertical or angled? Can you pretty please answer one of these questions? Cmon :D -

Awesome, now they just need to model their operation realistically and allow us to manipulate them with a nice 3d cockpit, and well have ourselves our very own battlefield simulator.
