  1. Sorry, forgot about this one. Glad you figured it out.
  2. Bullseye calls (from the AI) have a 1NM resolution for range, so the calls won't always get you right on target (as you probably know) However you can enter up to 1/10 of a mile values into the offset page. Maybe that could account for it?
  3. Have you tried comparing the actual bullseye bearing/range (after placing a mark point or mission point over the relevant group) to the ones you are getting with the map? You could narrow down your errors from there
  4. Actually 30x173mm rounds are made with a tracer version. Can't remember the manufacturer, but there's a brochure available on the web with a tracer varient listed. If you watch some of the early a10/GAU-8 flight test videos you can also see some tracers in action. That being said, they're obviously extremely rare and probably almost never loaded. It's easy to add a colored tracer effect to the rounds in sim. You need to find a file called "shell_table.lua" (I'm away for the holiday and can't remember the exact location/name) Towards the bottom you'll find a couple of entries for the GAU-8 rounds. Hopefully you'll be able to figure it out from there, but if you can't I'lll post a detailed description when I'm back in front if the computer
  5. It's an aeroplane aaron886... They fly high up in the sky, and make people on the ground jealous:D
  6. My memory is a bit hazy on this one, but I seem the remember that you'd want your final attack heading to be on the same heading as the closest friendlies/target. So you are over flying friendlies on your final attack heading. Makes a lot of sense when you consider gun ricochets and bomb blast patterns (based on the angle of impact). Like I said though, can't quite remember the specifics, and the above may only be relevant in a danger close situation
  7. Having a similar problem here. I can usually get into the server for about 15-60 seconds before I get the "connection interrupted" message. The issue is occurring on a server that was, in previous builds of DCS, working normally for me
  8. Apparently the tanker does not have the requisite equipment for that. TACAN is the only option for tanker navigation... You might try assigning a unit that does have a datalink as a tanker escort
  9. Try flying at about 200 ft AGL with a tall building on your nose...point the TGP at the the building hit active pause and look over to your TAD. Note where the diamond or SPI symbol is located on the ground and fire your laser... You can't miss the affect. However, the distance will only be accurate with the laser firing. So it's usefulness is somewhat limited to creating accurate mark points
  10. The simple method would be to moniter the fuel used to get to the target. So you start out with 10,000 pounds and by the time you get to the target you have 8,000. Give yourself a safety margin of 1,000 pounds and Bingo is set at 3,000... That might be cutting it a little close though. I know there are threads buried around here with much more satisfactory/exacting methods but this will get you in the ballpark
  11. Awesome.
  12. Genrally speaking, with a CCIP dive attack, you pick a spot beyond the target (on your final attack heading/on the ground) that will be the point you "aim" the plane at (aim with TVV) If your geometry was right you would roll out of your dive and offset turn, place the nose on this imaginary point (beyond the target). This point should also correspond with the desired aircraft attitude for delivery... which is pretty tricky. In falcon parlance this point is termed Offset Aim 2 (OA2). With the TVV on OA2 delicately maneuver the PBIL so it's over the target and let the pipper track over. When the thing hits the thing, pickle. If you'd like I'll prepare a long winded track :P showing how to create a flight plan to assist with the offsets and altitudes in order to get a consistent result. The attack I've been focussed on for far too long is the 10º pop with low drag mark 82s. For SEM, TOF and MIN ALT I'd recommend flying some attack profiles and hitting active pause with the pipper on target (and all other attack parameters met). Mess with the settings like this to appreciate the effect they have on the HUD symbology for given attitude, altitude and speed. make sure you use static targets as well :D
  13. :holiday::drunk::yay:
  14. Sounds like you might have checked "game avionics" in the options menu (?) ...I'm not sure that I fully understood your question though
  15. What gave you that idea?
  16. Perhaps it's a limitation of your system? What are your specs?
  17. Have you tried right clicking on the boxes below the pylon numbers? ...I assume you're talking about the in-game rearming menu
  18. As far as I know it is not part of the CDU, it's in/part of the central interface control unit
  19. FC3 has been a blast so far! Thanks ED team/testers!
  20. It does push down, or in I guess
  21. I guess that's the fundamental difference between the two of us. You seems to picture the people at ED sitting around counting their money... While I remember the post from Wags explaining that ED is lucky to break even with their products. Try to enjoy what you've got :)
  22. First of all, you probably shouldn't trust my understanding of the info here...I'm going off 2nd (probably 3rd lol) hand info. I think you'll be missing out if you cop an attitude like that. CA is what it is, as they say. It adds some pretty amazing functionality to an already outstanding sim. If ED decides to refine the content and add more functionality down the road I'm happy to support that with my $40. If EDs work so far is any indication, than it'll be $40 well spent
  23. I would imagine that plenty of people could build terrain for DCS...but they'd need the tools from ED to do so. There are a few threads buried around here with some potential terrain projects that were seemingly left behind. Seems the upcoming release of EDGE has been a deterrent for the few developers out there and for good reason I suppose. ...Sniped
  24. All is well here. It was a pretty wild storm, in addition to many windows shattering, a large construction crane snapped at its base and proceeded to hang there blowing in the storm all night! Took these photos fairly late in the evening, you can appreciate just how much this giant crane was moving! It made the most sickening noise as well: I was told today by a cop "It ain't gonna fall anytime soon, so you can expect things to be blocked off for a while" (the street it's on is evacuated and the surrounding streets are not open to pedestrians, except residents) That's gonna be a hell of a job to deal with!
