Photoshop/illustrator work very nicely for the .tga work. Lets talk on TS, I can save you some time with the alpha transparencies

Damn, couldn't stand more corrected... Looks like a crane is about to collapse in my neighborhood. I've seen at least three windows blow out across the street ...why I'm out on sidewalk under those buildings with a rubber neck is anyones guess :D

Spiderpig, The HUD symbology for the a-10 can be found in DCS World/Mods/Aircraft/A-10c/cockpit/resources/indication textures (that path is from memory and is probably slightly wrong). They're .tga files and basically have all the symbology crammed onto one image. (They're alpha transparencies as well, so they'll look blank unless you view the alpha channel.) I guess the engine chops that image up an the fly to render the right symbol where the .lua files tell it too. If you edit those images (most importantly the alpha channel) you will obviously see a change in sim. Probably not the most useful info but what the heck. Rabbit

Bad things no doubt. I guess I can't complain...looks like a four day weekend to me :D

Bloomberg is an alarmist... Remember what happened last time? Almost nothing in NYC despite shutting down subways and losing businesses lots of money. Vermont, of course was a different story. Good to be prepared, but no reason to be alarmed...It'll be windy and rainy. Fortunately, unless a tree falls on your head neither of those are fatal to humans

At the very least, thanks for sharing! Amazing what goes on under the hood so to speak

Indeed, I also love the "special effects" I.e. bomb explosions... Seeing dust get kicked up around an explosion simulating shrapnel (even if it's purely visual) is awesome!
-
In line with what FreeFall said you can also slouch down a bit, recenter your view and then sit up...will basically do the same thing that the seat height adjustment does

Using a Vizio 42" HDTV and I couldn't be happier... I've had the opportunity to run the sim on a high quality 24" computer moniter and I couldn't see anything! (Because my eyes are spoiled by those extra inches :)) ...I'm sure HDTVs have plenty of disadvantages (although I haven't noticed any of the ones memtioned by Agrasyuk) but the size difference for the price is amazing. My TV is 1080p with 120 hrz. It doesn't display the sim at 720 or have any tearing issues. It also cost about $500 bucks

His handle is Happypants...YouTube channel is melgibsonx iirc Awesome dude! Kinda crazy though :D

Indeed I have IIRC we had two female vpilots in the 1st VFW (back when they supported DCS)
-
Who do I pay? :D
-
Matt Wagner and his evil henchmen! :P DCS: "Insert any modern aircraft" will be a buy for me.

It's got plenty of flaws but when it works, it works well! With the graphics maxed it's the most visually immersive flight sim out there IMHO

I'm having trouble following you. Laser guided bombs are delivered much in the same way as unguided bombs. CCIP deliveries are visual and CCRP requires a SPI (generally TMS up long command with an appropriate sensor). Only difference is that you need the laser firing at the target for the bomb to guide. Does that come anywhere near answering your question?

We've gone...Plaid

That's a drag. When this game works (which it seems to for a lucky few) it is visually breathtaking. I'd rank it as one of the "prettiest" games I've ever seen... Mind you I can run it with the graphics maxed without issue. I don't even have a particularly cutting edge machine which is quite odd I guess

Those were the first values I entered randomly... I personally think the green is far more visible, I just needed to post an example to show that it worked. Try: 255/255 255/255 255/255 255/255 That'll make the HUD bright white. From the small amount if testing I did this seemed the brightest and most visible to me

Remember that the pilots head is not lined up with the barrels of the guns (by 5 feet at least, I would guess) I would imagine that at the point of convergence for the guns the pilot might not see much streaking but for the first 300 (?) feet that burning tracer element is going 3000ish feet per second. The human eye just wouldn't see that as a floating orb. At least not mine. I recently got a batch of extended range/extra bright tracers in 9mm (not exactly a .50 lol) Next time I have an opportunity to shoot I'll take two videos, one with the camera in line with the bore and one with the camera a few feet off bore. The difference is unmistakable.

@Yo-Yo, You're, of course, right. And what you've done in DCS looks like a major improvement on paper. Couple of things I notice: I've never seen a daytime tracer bright enough appear to have the "volume" we see in DCS at the moment (doesn't mean they don't exist, I've just never seen tracers so bright personally) What you mention in your post is indeed true. But you don't have to be observing the fire from a perpendicular viewpoint to see the tracer streak...in fact you can start to appreciate that more if you simply lift your head away from the sights. Also, as you no doubt know, the faster a round is the more it appears to streak to the observer. Ricochets are rarely fast enough to have a well defined streak. This stands out especially in DCS right now as the tracers have almost no "streak" right out of the muzzle at their highest speed, but appear to streak after they ricochet. I like the direction you guys are going in with these effects, don't get me wrong. I just think they need some tweaking.

I have many times. Including some time on Ma Deuce. What we have right now in p-51 looks cool but doesn't remind me of reality too much
