  1. Yep, what he said...
  2. Great write-up - thanks for making the effort. The commonality with swapping sticks between the Warthog and the T-50 is the reason I want a T-50 - just wish it was possible to buy one! I've been waiting for AGES!! You didn't refer to "Customer Service" or item availability!! :)
  3. +1 - that's part of my point - I can't even purchase one to then experience their customer service in person!! :)
  4. I really want to purchase one of these, but for the issues with lack of availability and support as described above... It's a shame, I'd love to see a company like this do well - but they seem to screw it up for themselves - both Virpil AND VKB with monotonous regularity!
  5. Thanks for the link - will give it a try!
  6. Any progress on this? I reckon I had the same problem today also - tried Auto bombing and was then unable to switch back to CCIP, regardless of what I tried...
  7. Appreciate the words of advice - will keep on trying'!!
  8. Does anyone out there have success with AAR with a Warthog and NO extension? I'm new to DCS, but in a former life, was a real world military flying instructor - I used to fly close formation aerobatics in the Pilatus PC9 (and never hit anyone...) - but I feel like a total numpty trying to successfully AAR in the FA18. I haven't re-greased or sandpapered the gimbal ball of the Warthog - there is a small amount of stiction, but it's not that bad, really. I've used Chuck's manual and set the deadzone to 4 and the curves to 16 in X and Y axis, as per his recommendations. But I'm all over the shop like a mad woman's $hit... Any advice would be great - should I start with getting an extension? Haven't flown real world form for a while, maybe I've just lost the edge... ;)
  9. Just wanted to add my thanks and congrats to Deltaalphalima1 - this is a superb mod, beautifully designed and works a treat. The build quality is excellent, and the telling thing for me, was realising how lightweight and crappy the original equipment is. When you remove the original slew controller, you'll understand what I'm talking about - it weighs next to nothing and is cheap, crappy plastic. The installation instructions are great and the install was easy. Like a few others, I had some issues with the initial calibration - not sure what I did, but tried a few times (to calibrate) and it eventually found itself centered. Like someone else mentioned, I also inverted the vertical Y axis for a better result (for me) and I also added in a tiny (4-I think) deadzone. It works REALLY well - I highly recommend this to anyone with a Warthog. Thanks again.
  10. Has anyone else found such an additional mod to be necessary? Also, back to a previous question - what are people using and recommending - square or round hole?
  11. I too am interested in what other users are recommending - Circular or Square??
  12. Yep, they are absolutely awful to use in real life - uber-un-ergonomic...
  13. I can't believe how rough with his Warthog, he is! I'm impressed!
  14. I think that Thrustmaster has really missed the boat on this occasion - I mean, how long since the Warthog release, how long since DCS FA18 was first talked about - they've had ages to get a "simple" stick organised and to miss the (long coming) release of DCS FA18 is pretty pathetic. Their whole "Summer of Flight" theme, or whatever it was, is a missed opportunity for them by failing to have something, anything (even basic details!!) ready for imminent release. They've banged on about the "inter-changeability" of their flight sticks for years, and the ONLY options are the Cougar Flight Stick and the Warthog Flight Stick - so many other options for them - the EASIEST being the FA18 stick - and they've missed it... That's my 2 cents worth...
  15. Yep, that was it - X and Y were doubled up... Thanks guys.
  16. Thanks for ultra-quick response - without looking, I think this is the likely cause - only just setup the Warthog for first use today...
  17. True, which is commonly referred to, and known in the aviation world, as "vapour".
  18. Howdy - not sure if this is a problem with F18 or my setup. Whenever I start a mission (any type) and initially click "Fly" and "Pause/Break" to unpause, the F18 immediately rolls hard left - I regain control and all is ok for a while, but then occasionally rolls rapidly without control input and random times. I'm using a TM Warthog. Any ideas? Thanks.
  19. I appreciate this - thanks for your efforts, Backy_51.
  20. Didn't think it was worth waiting for Thrustmaster to perhaps make an announcement in June??
  21. I am pretty happy about this news!
  22. Oh, man, dudes and their extensions!!! ;)
  23. 10:30pm on the 23rd May where I am (East coast Australia) - only 30% downloaded of the Persian Gulf download @ 1mb/sec - I'm off to bed and will see how it looks in the morning!!!
  24. This is absolutely correct. I had a couple of opportunities to fly an F18 (briefly in a previous life!) and in close formation "walking the throttles" was the key to "smoothly" maintaining station. Having only flown single engine jets before this opportunity, it was new to me, but a quickly acquired technique. Will be interesting to see how the DCS F18 responds to this input on a TM Warthog for example...
