  1. The throttles became available recently. It is more expensive to buy the two separately but such is life!
  2. Indeed! I honestly built it "to see if I could" but I intend to get the Huey in the next sale, and I fly a bit of helo in Arma 3. Thought that as I was building a pit I might as well!
  3. The most expensive part has been dealt with! Going to order an extension very soon, just need to pay for a holiday first!
  4. Yes OP already mentioned he was aware of this. He just wanted to know if the small bit of play was common or a fault. It's not a fault, but it isn't a design feature. Definitely going to be getting an extension, the centring detent on the Warthog stick is very harsh.
  5. It's normal. Brand new one arrived today, and it's exactly as you described. I'd forgotten how great the HOTAS feels, sold my last one and went back to my X-52 for a while when I stopped flying. Already want an extension though!
  6. I checked this out when I registered on the 476th forum Snoopy - Thanks so much for the hard work! For full length ops it's indispensable, however for basic flights I found it a little hard to navigate. No discredit to the author but I found that the layout was a little lacking, making it challenging to read at a glance. It seems like everyone has a different process for starting up the Hog! Here is the current iteration of my checklist. Any feedback would be appreciated. It's less detailed than some, but I feel that it strikes a sensible balance between (Relative) realism and speed! 7. Thanks very much! Building myself a checklist that is easy to read on my phone and I'd like it to be as realistic as possible.
  8. Never really known what true discipline is here. My presumption is as follows When starting up Formation - ON Position - FLASH Nose lights - TAXI When Taxiing/Taking off Formation - ON Position - STEADY Nose lights - LAND When Fencing in All lights off When Fencing out Back to panel settings So tell me, how many millions of miles off am I?
  9. Surprised they even told you! When I asked them for details of the main toggle switches on the Throttle they wouldn't "reveal who their suppliers were"!
  10. It's just an on-off-on micro switch. You can get one from Maplin for about £2. Nothing special about them, as long as the dimensions match up it'll work.
  11. Absolutely this ^ I would however say that HOTAS, Pedals and TrackIR are the key components to flying well. Everything else simply adds immersion and makes life easier.
  12. We'll continue through private messages to save cluttering the forum. HOTAS means 'Hands on Throttle and Stick'. In this context it relates to the stick and throttle itself, and the relevant buttons. Familiarise yourself with the names, positions and features of each button and switch on these two components and we'll have a much smoother time. By default rudders are bound to Z and X. For ground work they are important, and will become important as you progress to more advanced flight maneuvres but less vital for what we'll be doing. So make sure you have them handy for taxi and takeoff, but don't worry if they're not on hand in flight.
  13. Excellent. Make sure you get a mic hotkey set in Teamspeak (If you're using one, the mic switch on the Warthog HOTAS Throttle has an unbound position you can use)
  14. Great. Tomorrow will probably be best then as we'd only get an hour tonight (I play Arma 3 Monday nights from 2000 EST (1900 your time) But I could stick around later tomorrow night. LGB's aren't too hard to learn. A few more things to configure than dumb bombs but I'm sure you could pick it up.
  15. The Saitek Combat rudder pedals are very good. Fairly accurate and nice feel. Very strong. Only the little independent companies offer better pedals (Slaw Device F-16, MFG Crosswinds etc) But you will pay a significantly higher price.
  16. If you don't have a HOTAS, then definitely. Knowing the HOTAS commands is vital to flying the Hog. Getting controls configured well before flying is of paramount importance. To reiterate, the HOTAS commands are the most important, because they virtually run the whole aircraft. Everything else is mouse clickable, and therefore, of less importance.
  17. I can do up until 1900ish your time any day this week including today. That's about 0100 for me so I can't go much later for you! I can host us a simple private server, and we can use Skype or Teamspeak to communicate. If you let me know what kind of thing you'd like to do I can build a simple mission. I'm no expert; but I can show you how to get the bird running, configure weapon profiles, get into the sky, navigate to - and put ordinance on targets using the various systems, and then if we're really lucky, get back down on the ground!
  18. Competition drives innovation, so I'm interested to see what you can deliver.
  19. Hi Seth, I have a few days off work this week. UK time but perhaps we could get together. Happy to take you through some basics.
  20. Putting a small resistor on pots will clean their input up.
  21. Personally I tried freetrack, facetrack etc, went out and bought a relatively good webcam, stripped out the IR filter, built a tracking cap with LED's, and spent what felt like hours in the software, and it was just a royal pain in the a**. Yes the TrackIR is significantly more expensive, but the results (for me at least) were infinitely better. I'd struggle to achieve 25+ fps with the webcam alternatives, if I was lucky in good light. With TIR it's 100fps guaranteed, every time. No I don't work for Natural Point, but I'd pay the premium in a heartbeat to save the effort I went through last time.
  22. Myself included, I've seen at least six posts saying that now! I think Froogle has done Voice Attack a service!
  23. Looking great. Your AHCP looks pretty nice! - That's my next project.
  24. Thanks for the reply Blooze. Bought Voice Attack yesterday and so far I'm blown away by it. Set up a huge amount of commands in a relatively short space of time, including some basic conditions and blocks. Still struggling with the frequencies though, it seems like presets are going to be the only way sadly, which still isn't a great option. Anyone else got any suggestions on that one? On the topic of presets, can they be configured globally? (So they're persistent throughout the sim)
