BTW. Easy comms = OFF Because I did an early engine start I didn't get the first salute prompt. Maybe that messes it up. The first time I tried the mission I had to wait a long time for start clearance due to high flight deck activity and no groundcrew available. By the time I got clearance my buddy had already launched. I re-started the mission and started my engine straight away. We both launched togther this time.

I run on a standalone install which I keep up to date. I have mods like the usual asset packs, range targets, echo19 audio mods, SRS, lots of liveries and kneeboards. Missions 1, 2 and 3 were fine for me - all giving procedures, comms and queues as briefed. Mission 4 was the first one that seemed to behave oddly. I might do a re-fly after I've finished the campaign. I don't wont to reset my current progress at the mo. Thanks.

Are AARs required or not?

If F/A-18 AAR had a difficulty rating, it would be: Easy: KC-130 Normal: KC-135 MPRS (due to the jet wash) Hard: S3B (due to the jet wash and the short hose) I think all the campaign AAR is with the S3B. If you are new to AAR it is best to begin with the KC-130 to get the hang of it. Hope this is helpful -
Hi all, Re: DCS 2.9.15.9509 (21/APR/2025) Salute gives 'no crew member available'. Flight deck very busy. Waiting leads to very delayed launch relative to 'taxi' signal. I found it necessary to engine start without clearance (slightly naughty). After launch no comms to switch to Knight. I switched at WP1. Probably should switch after clearing mother beyond 7 miles (after the Case I departure). Case I recovery with ILS on channel 4 as briefed. ILS was ON. No needles! Thankfully it is a bright and sunny day so time for a bit of seat-of-your-pants flying. Hope this is helpful.

OK, thanks. Landing at WP3 was more like crashing at WP3. I did actually remove the FCR in the end. For the speed part the lead seems to accelerate very fast from 0 to 120 knots. It took me about half the leg to catch-up.

Mission 2 landing at the FARP. With both the external tanks still full and the FCR fitted the helo is so heavy I have trouble hovering or landing. Is this expected or should I remove some fuel to counteract the FCR weight? Thanks.

Hi again, Thanks for the pointers. I had a really fun time working through my mods folder. My problem was traced to the SU30 EFM mod by Codename Flanker Community. The specific mod version in question was v2.7.43 Beta. I removed the SU30_EFM from the SavedGames Mods/aircraft folder and re-started DCS. The A-10C II cold start now works ok. I did not investigate the problem any further (since I only tried out the SU30 once or twice). Thanks again, and case closed. Kind regards, Paul

What was the solution? My A10-C II crashes on start-up. Other aircraft work fine. I have done a clean and repair but still crashes. A-10C II, Instant Action, Caucasus, Cold and dark. Any chance of removing the low level mist from the Cold Start instant action mission on Normandy 2.0? It's really annoying when you just want to practice start-up and take-off procedures. VFR is better for training. IFR comes later. Thanks.

Haha. So funny. I was having trouble with this campaign until I noticed I had a centre drop tank fitted. You can do the whole channel transition on the drop tank. I only noticed when I ordered my buddies to engage, and I saw them jettison the centre tank. I'd been doing the missions for a few weeks, each time trying to limp home. I even made it once. lol

Started Epsom campaign after Normandy 2 update. Mission 4 briefs for engine start upon signal from telephone operator, but aircraft is hot start. No red signal flare (for at least the first hour!). Engine starts mis-firing after about half-hour of ground running. Cannot seem to clear it!?! Track attached. EpsomMission4.trk

Just finished. I had a grin on my face all the way through the final mission. Epic. A few general comments if they are helpful: Are you suppose to contact Andersen AFB when recovering to base? All my RTBs were silent. Some FM radios were not always giving any homing, e.g. Company HQ. More evident on the later part of some missions. This seemed a bit odd. If the map area was bigger this would make navigating home a little tricky. Would be nice to include guidance or tactics of proper OP for hot LZs for both Slick and Gunship. Be good to know how it should be done and a great learning oportunity. Overall 9/10 from me. 10/10 would need a fortunate son. lol Keep up the great work.

After dropping off at Company HQ, the only comms is "think I'll skip dinner". No further instruction for what is next? After a short while I decided to fly back to Anderson. The mission ended on touch down.

I have the same question - how to navigate back to Anderson? At the moment all I do is fly VFR generally in a NE direction. Some conditions are a little IFR/IMC.

I've been using the flare smoke direction as my guide. I always do landing approach into the smoke.

I've finished Mission 1 ok. Just the invisible carrier issue with this one. I'm currently side-tracked by buying the recent UH-1 Paradise Lost campaign. I'll get back to this campaign later.

The USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 is not visible. There are some F/A-18 hanging around in the air. DCS 2.8

During cold start and HUD on, turning the HMCS dial does nothing. Tried doing HMCS align but still nothing. HMCS works ok in Instant Action and other cold start missions.

License transfer works from Steam to ED, but not from ED to Steam. I started on Steam. I like to keep purchases all in one place to keep track of. I also want to keep the option to go back to Steam if the need arises. No other reason.

I have 23 aircraft modules (counting FC3 as one), all the terrain modules and quite a few campaigns. I haven't found any time for the Viggen, KA-50 and C-101. I've only done initial HOTAS set-up and cold start-up for F-5E, Gazelle and M2000. I buy all my modules on Steam, and transfer the licenses to Standalone - so no EDmiles for me . I've previously put a lot of my time into the A-10C-II, FA-18 and F14. Really enjoying the Viper, Mosquito and AH64 at the mo. My helo ops are improving daily. I don't crash nearly as much as I used to .

FOUND IT. My HOTAS throttle flaps switch was mapped to the power switch: flaps-up = Main Pwr. Never noticed or used it. Thanks very much for the pointers. And sorry for the bother.

Hi all Thanks for the chatter on this one. Seems there’s a varied opinion on this subject. My opinion is simply related to the checklist that operates the power switch based upon initially set to OFF. My rig set-up (Warthog HOTAS) does sync switches on startup, but I don’t have anything mapped to the power switch. Maybe it’s the way the sync works. I’ll have a bit of a play with that. Thanks again.
