Mike I have the same stick and for me learning to A2A refuel I had to add a pretty high curve at first. What felt like a small stick movement in my mind was a big movement on the 18. As I got better feel for everything I backed them down. J

Just got them yesterday all I can say is WOW. Had Saitek for years until they died bought a set of the cheaper thrust master but decided to upgrade after about a year with them. These are version 3 with the standard foot rest. Easy to assemble and set up on the computer. J

thank you J

I'm running VR with a quest2t on a PNY 1070 8g plus I'm on a low end pc and I had to back off some of the graphics but its playable for me sp and mp. Multiplayer i get a little stutter/skip if I look down at the ground but not enough in my opinion to ruin game play.

For me I find the S3 a little more touchy to stay in the basket. The KC130 and KC135 a little more forgiving. With those two, once I'm in the basket I push in and crowd the pod some. Gives me a little more wiggle room fore and aft. With the S3 if I push in to far I disconnect real easy J

Thanks for taking a look at it. I knew that my load out wasn't realistic but I'm still surprised that the radar won't pick him up further out not for a shot or anything. With him being at a higher and having the advantage of altitude and me looking up. I assumed he would show within a few sweeps of the radar. Thanks again

Yes so much easier. The sense of depth makes a huge difference.

I made up a training mission for BVR practice 1 SU27 about 60 miles out nose hot. I have no radar contact till about 30 . I have experimented with different bar scans, azimuth, and the high med/intrlv. Ant elevation is fine. I have even gone to the f10 map to get alt and distance from me to fine tune my inputs. Is this just the way it is or am I missing something. I'll post a trackfile and the miz. I have this on invulnerable just for training Thanks TC BVRSU27.trk SU27 BVR.miz

Is there a novice server or something?

I had a rough time learning to refuel the F18. What helped me I put in some stupid high curves on the joystick to tame down my corrections. Later on once I got a better feel for it I backed them off. Plus it took me a while to work with the stick and throttle together as one. I had a bad habit of focusing on the stick and not the throttle and vice versa. Another thing that help me stay connected is once I plug the basket I drive way forward toward the pod, gives me a little more wiggle room fore and aft. I've got a VR headset last month and the better sense of depth helps I've started practicing night IFR now, and the other day refueled in the A4 Skyhawk wasn't pretty had a few disconnects but i got topped off j

I use DiCE but the dcs updates has never bothered my settings and I don't have to activate/deactivate it . It opens and closes right along with dcs and I'm on openbeta but no viacom J

Is there a novice server or something?
Tomcat388th replied to SantasGolfClub's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Look up Tactical DCS on Dicord. They have training Thursday for EU timezones and NA/US . I fly with them from time to time good groop of guy and gals. The way it works they divide you out by airframe and then decide on what everyone wants to work on. I think they even have a section if u want to do 1 on 1 training just put your request out there what you want to do. Then I believe on Tuesdays they run a coop mission and I assume you just show up and go from their. I have no idea how to link their discord site to this message the avatar is a 1/2 red and white circle with a P in the center. Hope this helps J -
I am on the low end for DCS and plan on upgrading this year but this is what I'm using now. Can't afford the latest and greatest but will probably go with what was highend last year which will probably be midrange by the time I upgrade. This is kinda what I'm thinking right now nvidia 3070, intel cpu and 64 ram Dell t3600 work station 1650xeon 3.2G, 32g ram, Nvidia 1070 8G, SSD drives win10 64. LG 43inch TV + dell 20inch touch monitor when I use opentrack IR DCS at 1080p SP 80ish FPS MP 50's FPS VR Oculus Quest 2 via air link Using open xr runtime 3616x1840 , oculus tray tool supersamp 1.3, ASW mode 30 Hz, distortion curve low, encode res 2912, bitrate 0, sharpening enabled Plus playing around with sidequest now with the defalut texture size's VR SP 40-45 FPS MP 20 on the ramp or carrier and low 30's once in the air. In the air I will get a micro studder here and there but not enough to bother me only really see it if I"m looking at the ground. WinWing orion hotas thrustmaster rudder pedals the cheap narrow one Hope I didn't kill you with info J

New Pilot - Looking for Basic Instruction

I'm still learning the hornet and one thing that I have done while practicing is to make yourself invulnerable. This has really helped me with sam sites for getting a feel for being defensive against them. J -
Advice needed on good VR headset please
Tomcat388th replied to Steve83aus's topic in New User Briefing Room
I have a low end rig with a quest 2 and so far I have been happy with the setup. Even though my frame rate isn't very high it pretty smooth. On multiplayer I might get a tiny stutter here and there but it not enough to ruin the gameplay. SP missions i get around 40-45fps, MP in the hanger startup /taxi upper 20's once in the air mid 30's. I fly a lot on hoggits training server with usually 20 other players give or take. My system dell workstation t3600 3.2G,32G ram, ssd drives, nvidia 1070 8G and win 10 64bit. J -
Winwing Orion homemade idle stop
Tomcat388th replied to Tomcat388th's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I seen that they have that now -
I went from the stable version to open beta strictly for the multiplayer side of things.

I upgraded over Christmas to the Winwing Orion F18 been really happy with it

In the heat of the moment I would roll the throttles back to cutoff from time to time. I figured out that a piece of 3/8 diam dowel rod cut 1 1/4 long will lay crossways in the cutout behind the throttle levers. It works out perfect throttles are in the idle detent with a hard stop. Simapp prog show same value with or with out the dowel rod J

JDAM TOO: TGP slewing and TDC depress
Tomcat388th replied to Mik75's topic in New User Briefing Room
I'm still learning here but I believe once you have slewen the tgp over your target you toggle the SCS switch again either once or twice depending on what kind of lock you need for the pod J -
New to DCS. Requesting information.
Tomcat388th replied to persius's topic in New User Briefing Room
I started out with stable and then went to open beta just because there seems to be more servers for online/multiplayer. I had no problem with either one for single player j -
high-end system performance issues -- stuttering
Tomcat388th replied to dmatsch's topic in Game Performance Bugs

Start up in hanger 15-20fps once airborne 30ish. Same mission but running it on it own server 25-35 on startup and 50-65 in flight. I have a low end system dell t3600 xeon 1650 3.2g 32g ram 1070 8g. ssd drives. track ir and lg 42inch tv no overclocking on anything 1080p resolution.
