Looks like you need to create a new roughmet dds file. When doing liveries for a metal finish aircraft some creators set the roughmet to have a different reflectivity for aircraft markings. If you make a new livery and do not adjust a roughmet dds it will show the "dull" areas where the original markings were. seabat

Appreciate the info that it does work. I tried both the saved games livery folder and the mod livery folder but no joy. Now I am wondering if I missed a comma or have a colon versus a semi-colon in my description lua or some other goofy thing like that. Wish the computer would type what I am thinking and not what I input! (On second thought that might be dangerous) seabat

No worries. I do have a work around as I mentioned so I will keep fooling around with it. seabat

tripod, I know it is in the files somewhere (for that matter it is probably somewhere in this topic) but I cannot find the name for the B-47 livery folder. I have tried B_47 and B-47 and B47 but a folder with these names in the saved games or the mod folder do not lead to recognition. The only way I can get new textures is replacing the existing ones in use in the texture.zip in the mod folder. Looked at the B-47.lua and the entry lua but can't find the name or one that works. Also did not see any reference when I downloaded the description folder via model viewer. If someone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I also noticed several versions of exterior liveries for the B-47 in the texture.zip file. Some with just country markings, some with USAF markings, and various combinations there of in jpg, bmp, png, and .dds. Even saw a .pdn (paint net?) file. Only a generic texture is being used by the mod. Just wondering why such a selection as I am only able to get a generic default with stars and ac number. Really good mod with a variety of aircraft which enhances the game. seabat

I succeeded in loading the mod. I am not sure which other mod was causing the conflict as I did a group disable but I suspect it might have been a copy of DOL's B-29 that was the issue. Forgot I even had that loaded. Anyway, I can now say the Cold War mod is Sierra Hotel! seabat

Unfortunately I get a crash at DCS loadup. I am fairly confident that I have a conflict with another mod but was just wondering if anyone else has a hint of possible conflicts while I do the disable, enable search. seabat

Wonder if Scoobyon hit the 200 mb attachment limit for the forums. (At least that is a restriction I have). I hit that limit once and had to delete old attachments to free up space. Was not paying attention to file sizes of pictures and was loading 3 MB png pictures. Have since changed to converting pics to jpg and trying to keep file sizes around 500 kb. seabat

Appreciate the answers everyone I am gathering from the responses it is an issue most likely within the model and not the livery. Regarding the question if it is just the pictured livery or all liveries it is all for specific mods. I have “stumbled” on some color combinations that reduce the effect but does not remove it. As I just paint and have not worked with 3D modeling I will work with what I have. Again thanks for the replies. seabat

Wyvern, Would a bad setting of the Red channel cause the shadowed areas on the wing of the F8? I am trying to find the source of the shadows and I do not know if it is something in the EDM file or something that I am missing in my dds creations. I am only running into this issue on a certain set of 3rd party mods. A variety of other mod liveries I create do not have this "shadowing". seabat

Yep, weathering is next on the list after transfer of unit markings to the new format. seabat

Unfortunately the mesh for the Seasprite textures have a lot of overlaps and a template is not available right now. Best I can suggest is using one of the livery textures and set up a layout from those. Folded static is being looked at but I can't even promise the standard "2 weeks". seabat

I have this problem someone help me
seabat replied to TRYZENTHAL's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
It looks like you need to adjust the x, y, z coordinates on your object. Based on your pictures the connection point is at the top of the flir pod is set to attach to a pylon ie: at the top of the pod. To use it as a static the connection point needs to be lowered to the bottom. Unfortunately I am not sure if the connection point needs to be changed in the edm or if it can be changed in the weapons call out lua as I never tried to do what you want. seabat -
Beldin, Great mods as usual. Really helped out with the Bon Homme Richards as well. Keep it up and you are eventually going to have to change your name from Beldin to Air Boss! seabat

Easiest solution is to use the raise/lower view commands to adjust your seat height to get the proper view of the hud. Added benefit is that not only can adjust so you see the full sights, you can raise your view to get a better look at the deck during landings. I am sure you can create pre-set key bindings but I never bothered. I do not recall any tables for weapons for this particular mod but when you drop 16 snake eyes at once you will probably get a hit! seabat

A while back there was an DCS update that affected some mod liveries and made them go black/dark. If I remember the solution correctly you needed to open the dds file in a program such as Paint.net and resave as a dds again. As the last time I looked the F105 had 8 texture files for each of the plane liveries it may be a little tedious. seabat

Someone back in the middle of this topic asked about black boots for the main guns. Unzip attached and copy/paste/replace dds file into the texture.zip for the mod. As always back up the original dds in case you don't like it. It is not photo realistic but I think it works. seabat AGM034_16in50_Mk7_a.zip

Locked to country means this line in the lua countries = {"USA",} add two dashes to the front of the line --countries = {"USA",} and see if that changes anything. If not remove the two dashes. seabat

Short answer is yes. The original liveries that came with the mod had the larger rivets and lines. The next update will have some newer liveries with adjusted rivets and lines. seabat

VSN F/A-18D Hornet with F/A-18C Cockpit
seabat replied to josh-109's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
OVGME basically works the same way for me. Put mod in OVGME folder, open OVGME, search for the mod, click enable. In the past when I had an issue with the FA-18D it was caused by forgetting to disable the mod in OVGME before I updated to the latest DCS update. DCS update "fixed" the FA-18C and overwrote the D mod codes for player controlled. seabat -
1. When viewing an edm in Model Viewer the resolution seems to be lacking as in it looks like 720 dpi. Is there a setting that can be adjusted in MV? 2. Is there a way in MV to tell where on the edm a dds file is applied to? I can see the textures in the texture drop down but would like to know where some of the less obvious ones are applied. seabat
