AngleOff66 replied to AngleOff66's topic in Virtual Reality
I've been reading the comments and Rico mentioned trying foveated rendering and having better results. I would very much like to see that video. Hopefully soon. -
AMD Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs
AngleOff66 replied to LucShep's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Buildzoid looks at the Sapphire implementation of the 12VHPWR connector on the RX 9070 XT Nitro+. Close, but no cigar? Edit: Hopefully there is enough head room so that it doesn't have the same issues as the green ones. -
5070 review. For those considering it.
AngleOff66 replied to AngleOff66's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I felt that it deserved it's own post as the reviews are not great and that it might save someone from making an error in purchasing. Wasn't this the card that was supposed to have 4090 like performance with MFG? -

5090, nothing learned from the 4090 problems...

An electrical Engineers take on this. Yes, someone that works in the industry. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1io4a67/an_electrical_engineers_take_on_12vhpwr_and/ Technical but still an interesting read. -

Rafale FR3D-Studio pour DCS 2.9.6
AngleOff66 replied to Seyv's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I saw the video of the Armée de l'Air inviting Charles Leclerc to fly in the 2 seat Rafale. I thought that the Rafale would look great in a certain shade of red. His name was Perceval Just a thought. -
Sort of Mosquito related: 1/32 DH.103 scale model.
AngleOff66 replied to AngleOff66's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Fair enough. Those Tamiya 1/32nd kits really look lovely. They look to assemble so well. Edit: I hope that the DH.103 sells well for this team. -
The dies are being cut. Looks great to me. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235111713-132-de-havilland-dh103-hornet-sea-hornet-by-db-model-kits-dbmk-in-design3d-rendersschemesbox-arttest-parts/page/2/

Before doing anything maybe do a system restore point? https://www.tomshardware.com/software/windows/microsoft-backports-branch-prediction-improvements-to-windows-11-23h2-more-users-will-see-ryzen-performance-improvements I've read good and bad, some people seeing good numbers, others having crashes. This fix is one example.

Advise on Sim Seat
AngleOff66 replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Being on a budget, I have decided that a wooden box that I can add weights to(heavy books or weights) is the way to go. I'm trying to avoid slouching my right shoulder. Finding a box of the correct height is the trick. Attach joystick to top Finally you have to scoot forward on the seat, so you will need a firm foam pillow or firm foam the size of your seat back to support your back and maintain posture. This is how I plan to try at least. -
Can you help me choose my future configuration?
AngleOff66 replied to François's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You may find these videos from hardware unboxed helpful. They have more, but I will link 2. I've been reading some Asus forums, and I think Asrock has been doing better than the main company. At least for now. Yes to a 2 tb drive. Between DCS, and another flight sim, my SSD is getting full. Very nice work on the cockpit. -
New DCS Rig Advice (non-VR) - casual gamer!
AngleOff66 replied to ILoveRice's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
*IF* you are looking at B650 boards, Hardware unboxed did a lot of testing of boards. Looks like a number of the ASROCK boards did ok. There is a lot of testeing, I think most people skip to the conclusion sections. Look in this link for the different test videos. https://www.youtube.com/@Hardwareunboxed/search?query=b650 I am not sure which boards will work with ddr5 if you are going that route. Also which boards will support AM5. Amd announced AM5 socket support to 2027 which could save some $ allowing you to get a better faster CPU and use it with the AM5. -
Saw this on reddit. Not every Raptor lake is affected. To quote: "13th and 14th core generation with an actual Raptor Lake die are potentially affected" https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/1edhm93/raptor_lake_degradation_issue_rpldie_faq_10/ There are vids on yt as well. If I understood things correctly Intel will release a microcode patch mid august. No idea what the MB makes are doing? I hope that for anyone having trouble that Intel steps up and helps you all out.
