Buildzoid giving his salt: 12VHPWR
AngleOff66 replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just read this on reddit. Listen for the click. But some folks don't hear the click or struggle to seat the connector properly. The video by Ronaldo by teclab is interesting. If this is the real issue, should a connector be this fiddly? -
Possibly the first first burnt connector with native ATX3.0 cable Looks like it was from same brand MSI and the same distributor. MSI is asking for both back, looks to be replacing. I think i read that some owners/users are reducing power on their cards. Der8bauer showed that you can do this with minimal performance loss. Maybe this is a one off. But, if I had a 4090, I would power limit for sure.

I agree, we need to see more tests. The latest reviewer mentioned the distortion became a bit better when he got his eye closer Interesting how MRTV reported distortion only at the out edges of the lenses. All I can think of is eye socket shape/depth?
-
Hmm, another show test. He feels that the FOV is around 95? I do not mind the cable connection myself. I only flight sim from a chair. I saw a discussion on reddit regarding this review and some wondered if he couldn't get a result because of deeper eye sockets. I will wait for IRL testing, not just a quick show on/off. https://skarredghost.com/2022/10/26/shiftall-meganex-hands-on/

Buildzoid giving his salt: 12VHPWR
AngleOff66 replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Oh I absolutely agree with you re improper use and the design of products. These cards have pushed the envelope size wise as well. I think about what Der8aur said in one of his 4090 reviews: They could have dropped power a bit which barely affected fps performance which likely would have allowed them to make a slightly smaller cooling stack/fins. -

RX 7000 cards rumored to not use this connector https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-radeon-rx-7000-cards-reportedly-not-using-pcie-gen5-12vhpwr-connector I've read a number of comments stating that these plugs are ok, that it is user error. Bending the cables etc. Guess we shall see. -

I think this video is still valid? Pitch controls: Skip to 8:20 This video looks to cover weapons etc. Hope it is still valid. -
I wonder if there will be an initial rush to buy from the I must have top of the line everything crowd and then a slowdown in purchases in 5-6 months? Hopefully AMD is close in performance while being perhaps a bit cheaper with better efficiency. We can hope? I keep checking local 3090 Ti prices and not seeing a drop yet from the initial drop we had the last month or so.

There are also good reviews on Paul's Hardware and techtesters. I hope someone who plays DCS and other flightsims can give us a review soon.

Gamers nexus uses a water jet to cut 4090 cooling in half. Lots of technical stuff I didnt understand.

Question to developers on Intel ARC GPU?
AngleOff66 replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Intel recommends more recent CPUs for use with this GPU. https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-recommends-its-10th-gen-core-and-amd-ryzen-3000-cpus-or-newer-for-arc-alchemist-gpus Perhaps this will hopefully change in time. Low end/low spec gamers like me need some decent cards as well. -
Congratulations! Enjoy

Ryzen 7000 PBO2 tuning temp/power drops
AngleOff66 replied to AngleOff66's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks to HUB for doing this. What is interesting is the results using the wraith spire cpu cooling fan. A better cpu cooling fan should help? Basically eco mode doesnt look bad at all to me. I am going to wait to see what the next x3d does. -

Well looks like HUB is trying pbo tuning without a lot of luck in blender for example. Darnit. https://twitter.com/HardwareUnboxed/status/1576142625798643712?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet -
I enjoyed reading this right up to where you are waiting on the sticks. I hope that they all show up quickly. Best of luck.

Ryzen 7000 PBO2 tuning temp/power drops

Just saw on Hardware unboxed that AMD is enabling an economy mode button. This should have been there from the get go IMHO. They(HUB) are going to redo testing with econo mode enabled. -

Arc support for DX11 games. May take a bit. https://www.pcgamer.com/intel-arc-legacy-dx11-support/ DX12 and Vulcan should be better. -
Some people use smoothtrack an app on your phone. Around $10 https://smoothtrack.app/ Or opentrack and a cam looks to works well. It has a built in tracker now. Opentrack is free. Link to the settings used by the person who posted the vid https://imgur.com/gallery/QT86LBf Dont forget to cover/turn off your cam after flying.

Congratulations. Enjoy the new system.
