I agree Asus isn't helping. Do any of the other board makes have that warranty void thing? I dunno. Is it going to happen to everyone, not likely, but I wonder as to long term component degradation caused by going beyond the specified voltages. People on tight budgets save for a long time to buy these components. Imagine finding out that your MB allowed over voltages beyond the spec which will likely age your system sooner than you expected? I'd be pretty upset. I for one have to run my systems for years. Edit: I think you raise a good point in your second paragraph regarding the culmination of causes. I remember a bit about the swiss cheese failure model theory.

12:20 shows the performance difference with expo on/off in various games. Some games lose over 10% or more. As Steve said, expo is not at fault, it is the responsibility of the board maker to set safe voltages. I think he is mostly mad with the use this beta bios and no warranty.

I know that we arent supposed to read yt comments, but some folks mentioned that he may have not seen the performance he was expecting as it looked like alt hold may have been on somehow. I guess that he will try again.

There is a part 3 coming. that looks to cover bios etc I posted this separately as I think people need to see. I have been wondering about ASUS for a while now and I am less than happy now. Steve uses his outside voice at 27:00.

From what I have read, it looks like the team is hitting some roadblocks. I hope that they can overcome these. I dont want to give anyone the impression that this will all get solved next week. It sounds like it could take some time. I wish them luck.

Isnt it the responsibility of the MB manufacturer to make sure that their voltage bosts do not fry the cpu/ram etc etc?

So, if that has any accuracy, then a fighter sized aircraft could be spotted at about 9 miles?

I am not running the HB F-14 down. I like it a lot(even though I cant fly it worth a darn), and I agree with the comments about Mr. Carroll's setup(we dont know), and missing physical cues. We all need 3dof freedom seats with ffb/bass shakers. j/k I only mentioned it as a discussion, no insult to HB intended at all. PS I am sure that the HB F-4 will be awesome as well.

Not a long video, but they noticed variances on some games and some boards. So, be sure to check if your system has rebar on by default or not. Looks like some but not all games gained a few fps with rebar off. Guess this will have to be a part of setting up a game. Rebar on, check results. Rebar off, check results. Edit: I'd be curious to see if AMD Smart access Memory can do the same in some games. I think its the games themselves.

F-104, game crashes when I select PILOT i.e. flown by me. It seems to work ok when in AI mode i.e. Veteran/Ace etc.

Just my 2 cents Do you have a budget? Do you plan to use a monitor or VR? The 9900k is from 2018 thereabouts. Hmm. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable posters here can help you out. After watching a few Alienware reviews, I am not sure that they are worth the asking price. If Dell did this with a 5K system, I am not sure how an R8 would be.
