Welcome to the forums dnme. The one bit of advice I would give to a beginner to the world of high fidelity simulations is, to be patient. As DCS A-10C is very close to what real A-10 pilots train on, remember it takes dedicated professional pilots some time to master all the systems etc. You should know that it will not come overnight or give you that instant gratification that a lesser game might, but believe me it is worth it. Think of it as your investing time in a Sim that you will be able to enjoy and build on for years to come. So take it one step at a time, and utilize the resources here. Remember to always search the forums for the thing you need answers about, chances are very high that someone else has asked the same question. Once you get the hang of things, try to help others out who are not as far advanced as yourself. Lastly, if you want to see more Flight Sim's like DCS A-10C, then by all means tell your friends and introduce them to your new addiction. The more people that join our community, the better it is for all of us.

Amazingly tough Russian soldiers (3) run from Smerch after it has just been blown to smithereens by my Maverick. They stand around the wreck shaking their fists in the sky! (The last sentence is a dramatization, lol)

Radio freq for JTAC in mission brief is 30.00 FM. In mission radio call directs player to contact JTAC firefly on 131.00 AM. 30.00 FM works. 131.00 AM does not.

I see what you mean..good advice. Thank you for your detailed explanation on the OP topic.

Just like DarkEagle, I have been unlatching for startup, and latching for flight. There seems to be more stability when latched. I must confess I worry that flying unlatched will increase the very small amount of play in the throttles. Then again, overuse of the latching mechanism, leading to a part failure would be awful too. I would love to hear from a TM Warthog design engineer regarding whether they envisioned the end user flying latched or unlatched. Do any of the real world A-10 guys here know if the latch is present on the real throttle?

I used the intercom + "hot mic" pushbutton to talk to ground crews. I was able to use it to successfully take on fuel. (This was with Beta 2, have not tried it with Beta 3)

Comm Sub-Menu, Missing Most Of The Options Under All Airports Listed
WarriorX replied to spn's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Just letting you know I use realistic radio settings, so there may be differences with easy settings, but the communication flow for a cold ramp start and the ATC should be the same. First comm option should be "request engine start" After engines are up and running the second option should be "request taxi" Listen for the ATC to give you a specific runway to taxi to, write it down. Now you can use the fantastic airport charts by Shu, or hit F10 and try to figure out where on the airbase you are and where you need to go to reach the desired runway. Once you have your bearings start to taxi to the desired runway but do not enter the runway. Look for a "hold short" line that will look something like this: stop short of the solid yellow line and your next ATC option is now "request takeoff". You will be given clearance to takeoff, or told to hold for traffic, (I have never been told to hold for traffic yet). Taxi on to the runway and then takeoff. Hope this helps. -
Jackless did you get things sorted out? I can provide links here directly to the files if you still need me to, but getting access to the beta forums is obviously the better solution.

Thanks for the video, it really helped me get a handle on that aspect of the CDU. Rep inbound.

HOTAS Warthog, DCSA10 & Teamspeak 3 Push to Talk

Please dont think your English is at fault, it is not. Today is just not my day, your explanation was fine. Thanks for posting it, it solved a big problem for me. -

HOTAS Warthog, DCSA10 & Teamspeak 3 Push to Talk
WarriorX replied to FZG_Kes's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
allright, maybe i'm just being a mouth breather, but how do you guys plan on mapping any WH keys to Teamspeak, VAC etc, if your not using Target to assign a keypress to Mic Switch UP or IN! -
HOTAS Warthog, DCSA10 & Teamspeak 3 Push to Talk
WarriorX replied to FZG_Kes's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Kes, I find the two stage trigger indispensable as the first trigger detent enables the stabilization, and the second detent at full trigger pull fires the gun. Why not map the TS PTT to the Mic Switch UP? -
Target is still a WIP...I am just glad they did not hold up releasing the Warthog until Target was working! The list of fixes and additions in this version of Target is impressive. Glad to see they are working hard on it. I have installed it, but have not created any profile. I was hoping this release would have given us the ability to have Target create more than 1 virtual controller. This way those of us with Simped Cougar Pedals could program them and not have to loose an axis on the Warthog. Oh well there is always the next release.

Simped toe brakes and A10, WHat axis to map to?
WarriorX replied to EvilRooter's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Have you tried double clicking on that box and it will bring up another interface. Then just press down on the toe brake repeatedly until it registers the toebrake? -
Hi EvilRooter, welcome to the forums! I have the simped F16 cougar version, (the rudders are connected thru the base of my Cougar Joystick) and I have to set up a program in foxy that programs the toe brakes to the corresponding keys in DCS A10C. Foxy runs independently from DCS A10C and sends keystrokes to the game. Now I know you probably dont use Foxy, as your running USB, Im gonna need some more info to help you out, so what Joystick are you running? What software are you using to program it? What OS? I assume you have tried going in to Options/Controls and seeing if DCS A10C "see's" the Simped Rudders, does it? (Look for a column named after the pedals)

I posted my Radio Tutorial in the Beta/Avionics and Weapons page. Thought I would provide a post with a link here as some have had trouble accessing the Beta Forums. Hope you enjoy it. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=61349

I am seeing a problem when missions that offer a Ramp Start, with multiple other friendly assets working together with you the pilot starting out on the Ramp. The problem is that all the other assets are ready to go, and start moving out when you are still in your cold dark plane. By the time you are up and ready to taxi, the other assets are already in the air and/or already on station. Falcon 4 had a setup where if you chose Ramp Start, then you entered the mission 15 minutes before the other friendly entities were active. This gave you time to get everything set up, and be ready when the AI assets "came alive" Falcon 4 also had options for Taxi Start= 5 min before, and Runway start= 1 minute before. I hate being late to a good party, so I hope this can be addressed. Thanks.

Here is a post of mine from another thread, and although it refers to a different comm frequency, the set up is the same. Make sure you are under APU or Engine Power, not just Battery Power. For Krasnodar Tower, 122.0 should be the VHF AM radio on the top of the 3 radios. Set right side rotary switch to TR Set the left rotary switch to MAN Set left most frequency dial to 12 Set next dial to the right of that to 2 The freq dials to the right of the 2 should be set to 0 The frequency window should now read 122.0 The radio is now set and all you need to do is hit the MIC SWITCH FWD to activate the VHF AM radio. This should bring up the radio interface. The next level is to set multiple frequencies in that radio by rotating the channel preset wheel that is on the bottom of that radio, and hitting the LOAD button after each frequency that radio is set up for. Once they are all loaded to a channel preset, then you can switch the left rotary switch from MAN to PRE. Now you can cycle thru the channels you loaded by just rotating the channel preset wheel and activating the MIC SWITCH FWD. All three radios can be set up like this, the only tricky part is the middle radio (UHF) has the LOAD button hidden under a flip up panel in the top left corner of that radio. Just remember set dials at MAN, and TR. Use freq dials to get the desired freq, then rotate the channel preset wheel to whatever preset you want that freq to be on. Once that is done, press LOAD. This binds that freq to the Preset Channel. If you want to add more freq to that radio then repeat as above, but rotate the channel preset wheel to the next channel, then hit LOAD again. If you are done, THEN ROTATE THE LEFT DIAL FROM MAN TO PRE. You can now rotate the channel preset wheel to the channel you set up and hit the appropriate MIC SWITCH and you are good to go. Also, you will not see the freqency's change as you rotate the channel preset wheel.

Well, it is hard to speculate, but I would say that for sure I could do it faster now in Beta 2 than Beta 1. Thanks to the Maverick improvements. If I had 2 Triple Ejector Racks of 3 Mavericks each, and the Tanks are grouped somewhat close together, then I would say 2 Mavericks per pass would be a good start. One more pass to get the last of the 2 tanks, and if the fuel trucks are still in a column, then it's GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! for the last pass. So 3 passes would be a good start, 2 if your really getting good locks at 5-6 km. One pass, ingress and egress would take me about 2-3 min, so 6-9 minutes of total time engaging would be an estimate. Remember to manage your inbound speed to reduce your closure time, thus giving you more time on the inbound runs, and then accelerate outbound for egress.

No Sir, just one good press.
