There really is not, as it seems that it was designed for the thumb to rest on the CMS. This is where it seems natural to me, resting on top of the switch.

Roger that...I stand corrected.

AI wingman calls "mud spike" yet my RWR is quiet
WarriorX replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Gents, please confirm this, but I only get RWR activity if the Jamming Pod (sorry, cant remember the actual designation) is loaded on one of the pylon's. The instant action missions do not have the Jamming Pod loaded on my A/C but the Fast Mission usually does have it in the load out. Just in case your asking yourself, yes, my RWR is powered on. -
Would be nice to be able to create a Markpoint in the Mission Editor/Pre-Brief that would load up into the Datacartridge and then show up in the TAD as a unique symbol. But we have been told that we are feature complete, so there is no real point. If anyone remembers Open Falcon, this functionality was present for you to create these marks that would show up in your HSD. Worked well.

No flir makes this one an easy win for the Litening IMHO. I used to stress in BS on late afternoon mission starts when the light was fading fast and I knew the Shkval was quickly going to be useless without a SU-25 coming by and dropping Illum Flares.

Hey Mower, here is my checklist if you want to compare it to the one you are using, I never have a DTS Load problem with it. DCS A-10 COLD START CHECKLIST BETA 2 VERSION 11-7-2010.pdf

You probably did not mean your post to come across as an attack on someone else's opinion, but it sure reads that way! No one knows for sure how long the WH will last eventually, but there are design attributes that add to it's long term life expectancy, eg the non contact hall sensors. There are many users on here that actually have the WH, like Kylania, that have posted their reviews/opinions. Take 'em or leave 'em, no one is gonna force you to buy a WH.

I used to use these all the time in Falcon 4, so I decided to make one up for DCS A-10C. It's attached below. Hope you enjoy it. Edit: added a few things and expanded some abbreviations where possible for those not so familiar. Edit 2: I attached the cold start checklist I made up, it also has things from the Beta 2 manual that I thought I would want quick access to. Edit 3: Mission Data Card changes; added elevation for airbase data squares, added TGP laser designator code as well as GBU laser designator code....cause nothing sucks worse than dropping a GBU that did not have a matching laser code with the TGP! Also color in the PRI/SEC target boxes, and last, dedicated Lat/Lon UTM coordinate boxes for JTAC target locations. Edit 4: JTAC section additions, misc changes. Edit 5: Cold Start Checklist updated to Final Release parameters. Edit 6: Cold Start Checklist revised, now Version 2. Edit 7: Mission Data Card now provided in A5 Format as well as 8.5X11 Look for A5 at the end of file description for A5 version. Edit 8: Cold Start Checklist added Environmental Controls, now Version 3. Edit 9: External Light activation was moved post APU GEN start. Version 4. Roger that...I was writing that in reference to the instant action mission titled Easy Spring Georgia. In that mission, the instructor voice tells you to contact JTAC Playboy on 131 AM In the Beta 2 Flight Manual on page 647 it states: Radio Frequencies In order to receive radio communications from other mission entities and have your transmitted messages received, it is vital that you have your radios set up properly! If not, you will be essentially talking to yourself. When a mission is created, each friendly flight and airfield is provided a VHF AM and UHF frequency. These are generally noted in the mission briefing and should be set to your radios at the start of the missions. Generally, the following rules apply: Your flight is most often assigned a UHF frequency. You will use this channel for inter-flight communications. Other friendly flights operate on a common VHF AM frequency assigned to the operating area. When set correctly, you will hear radio communications from other flight operating in the area. AWACS is assigned a unique VHF AM frequency. The JTAC is most often assigned a unique VHF FM frequency. Each airbase ATC is assigned a unique VHF AM frequency. As such, you may have to juggle multiple frequencies during the course of a mission and the frequency preset features on the radio will become a big help. so there is a possibility for a bit of confusion for some, getting the Radio's understood. But it is a Beta, so it will most likely solidify into a set of standards.

Thanks for the help ronht and Kylania! I appreciate it. Rep inbound for both of you.

Here is a post I made on the SimHQ forums that seemed to help others understand the Radio's. The post was written to help someone understand how to contact JTAC, so that is used as an example in the post. Note that this was written prior to the Beta 2 patch, so things may have changed. First lets get a understanding of which radio we are talking about. There are 3 radio's, VHF AM on top, UHF AM in the middle, and VHF FM on the bottom. All 3 have a set frequency range that they can transmit and receive on. VHF-AM 116.000 MHz - 151.975 MHz UHF-AM 225.000 MHz - 399.975 MHz VHF-FM 30.000 MHz - 76.000MHz *Thanks to AlphaOneSix for this frequency data! So to use your question above, to tune to 131.00 AM to communicate with JTAC you need to do 2 things in order for success, tune the proper radio and set the HOTAS Mic Switch correctly. To tune the top VHF AM radio to 131.00 the first thing that is confusing is that you see a single digit in the left most window and you dont realize that it goes from 1 to 15. Move the left most dial to 13, then the dial to the right of that to 1 and the other windows after the decimal point should read 0. Now that the frequency dials are set, then we need to make sure the radio is set for TR (transmit/recieve) this dial should be already set if you start in the air, and should be set as part of your ramp start. And then this is where the HOTAS Mic Switch comes in. If my memory serves me right, HOTAS Mic Switch forward is for VHF AM, down is for UHF AM, and Aft is for VHF FM. Since we want VHF AM, hit the HOTAS Mic Switch forward, this should bring up the radio interface graphic on your screen. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the review ronht. Regarding the thread you mentioned about how to load the Warthog lua files in the game options, I did a search for "Warthog lua" in the Input and Output forum and could not find it. Do you remember the thread title by chance?

Provantage here too, is your order with them shipping via Pitt-Ohio? Here is the quote from their webpage: Your shipment will be made in two steps because the regional in-stock warehouse which made this shipment cannot ship directly to your state. Your package is being shipped to our main Ohio warehouse and will then be immediately forwarded to you. The following tracking number is for the initial trip to our Ohio warehouse. Pitt-Ohio freight - Tracking Not Available I have never heard of an Ohio warehouse that cannot get a Fedex/UPS pickup....until now. -
Target Location Not Showing On HUD - Please Help
WarriorX replied to spn's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Welcome to the Forums spn. Waypoints will show up in the Hud as small squares, Waypoints can either be airborne (e.g. 7000 feet up in the air) or on the ground. You can turn on labels to show the targets. They will show up as RED text of the vehicle, or personnel if you are within a close distance, otherwise they will show up as a red dot at a distance. I strongly encourage you to take some time to read the manual as well the time will be well spent...as others have said in this forum, think of learning this Simulator like eating an elephant, you just take it one bite at a time. I hope I have helped, if not try the manual and then rephrase your question, lots of good people on here and if you put in a little time reading, they will be happy to help. -
So warthog guys, you plan on keeping your cougars?
WarriorX replied to Cali's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Keeping mine as well, the NXT mod has kept it in the game this far, and you never know when another F16 sim might come down the pike. -
I activate the radio's before engine start, as cold start procedure has you as the pilot asking ATC for permission for engine start. Just hit the battery switch, the inverter switch to standby, and then DC battery power is available for the radio's. Set all 3 up and dont forget to use the Mic Switch to access the on screen prompts.

Low Visibility ILS Approach into Kobuleti
WarriorX replied to warzenschwein01's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Great video...what a thrill that landing must have been. In the soup down to 200 feet off the deck, great job! I have not tried the ILS landings yet, and watching the video had me asking myself, where are the virtual ILS steering bars in the HUD? I guess im spoiled by Falcon 4. -
I maybe completely off but, I dont see how that makes any difference regarding when they release it, I mean if they are making the exchange rate an issue, then they can take my USD and either exchange them for Euro's now or later...depending on when they see the best rate. Am I wrong, or cant TM control the exchange and when they convert USD to Euro's?

"Underlying tone" is code for I cant back up my statement. Wrong again, you believe you know what offends me, what a supposition! You mistake a valid question as to why Warthog Shipping boxes marked with Destination:France ended up in the UK, and Destination:USA ended up in Belgium, as offence, you are wrong. All I am looking for is an explanation, hence I asked Thrustmaster. This kind of assumptions are just what I am trying to avoid, re-read the title of this thread, it is not an "Open letter to the Forums to expound on their conjecture as to why all the U.S. Pre Order ETA's are being missed time after time". It is to Thrustmaster, and they hopefully now have it. Any good company will communicate with their customers if they want to keep doing business with them. Communicating delays to a customer base is common in business, to say otherwise is misguided. This one is great...I have never claimed a "loss" I am just seeking credible information in order to make the best decision regarding my hard earned money. ETA's are exactly that: ETAs. This paragraph is the definition of over dramatic...nuff said! I will close this fun exchange with this...it is worth repeating. We few of the Simulation Community should be sticking together, helping each other out. We should see our neighbor's problem as our own, and help wherever we can. There is nothing gained when you infer unfounded accusations against me.
