  1. I'm on a Reverb G2. I don't have an answer for problems some are having, but I have both DCS OpenXR (motion reprojection still not working) and OpenComposite (motion reprojection working) with 2 sperate DCS.exe shortcuts. I call them DCS OpenXR and DCS OpenComposite. 1. I uninstalled OpenXR Toolkit. Ran a DCS repair. Left OpenComposite Runtime Switcher as "Status OpenComposite" 2. Set up a DCS.exe shortcut with the --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR command line as explained by BIGNEWY. Now if I want motion reprojection as it was pre patch I switch "Always on" in OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality then start DCS with the original shortcut. (Have not tried OpenXR Toolkit with this yet) If I want to try the new DCS OpenXR no motion reprojection I switch "Automatic" in OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality then start DCS with the new shortcut. Either way a 2 step process. That will do for me until DCS fix the motion reprojection in their OpenXR. I'll just keep updating with patches and wait until it works. In the meantime the old method works. I will say I did try both with motion reprojection off to compare and this may be subjective, but the DCS OpenXR looked clearer and smoother.
  2. Currently the beta runs well for me. Having a blast as well with Supercarrier.
  3. I used to have both installed but ditched the stable version. I live with the few bugs to have the latest. And all the people and groups I fly with use beta version as well. That's where the latest goodies are.:pilotfly:
  4. Hope so. Every land based hop in the Viper I feel another brain cell dying. I don't have many left:idiot: Thank you ED for the free trails! "Flaring is like squatting to take a piss"
  5. Super carrier definitely with the F/A-18C. And IMO the beta version of DCS. Then you can begin your simulated naval aviator career. The feeling of nailing a 3 wire with a shit hot case1 break is brilliant. And the new free map will add so much to naval warfare. You won't regret it. And all this negative stuff about SC release or the current state of the beta will sort itself out pretty quickly. It usually does. DCS is a constantly evolving beast. I ditched the release version for disk space and to always be on the cutting edge of DCS. You can always go back to your Viper when you feel like some easy flying. As the Navy pilot said to the Air Force pilot, "Flaring is like squatting to pee".
  6. Sorry if I missed this question, so much info on this forum. Found my answers about push back and parking. Two questions from the brilliant launch video. Carrier is in launch cycle with aircraft on fantail and using cats 3 & 4. I'm assuming mission designers will set times for launch and recovery ops and the carrier will set up accordingly. So what happens if you launch and have an inflight emergency and have to land. Particularly as AI aircraft would be active. Can they "wrap the waist and make a ready deck" for recovery. Or change ops through a radio call for emergencies. Second question is how does this work in MP. The group I fly with the carrier is like a train station. Departures and arrivals everywhere. No AI than simple a matter of adhering to launch and recovery I suppose. Side note, I was an Army artillery (& navel gunfire) FO for 12 years but after JTAC quals, if artillery is the finger of God, fast air is Gods hammer. New quote.
  7. Hi guys. Been at least 5 years since I flew with The Flying Kiwis. IL2 1946 days. Great times. Have not flown online since. DCS single player is most sim flying I do these days. I just applied too register on Simcentral forum to catch up.
  8. With the Chinese assists, how about the East China Seas. Cover the Chinese south east coast, Taiwan, up to Okinawa or southern Japan. Lots of blew water ops!
  9. I'm updating now and there seems to be files flashing by marked terrains/Caucasus/vfstextures or simular. They where zip files. If that helps? I don't know about file structure. Torrenting files now on 12gb d/l
  10. I had big initial problems after reboot. 1. DCS desktop icon and start menu gone. D/L DCS_World_OpenBeta_web.exe and reinstall fixed it. 2. Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi titanium fatal1ty not found. D/L new driver XFTI_PCDRV_L11_2_40_0018.exe and reinstall fixed it. 3. Oculus Rift CV1 client not found. D/L latest installer and reinstall fixed it. Annoying but fixed.
  11. NOOOoooooooooo! On my day off work. Guess I'll just have to go buy a new aircraft and tool around until 2.5.5 is out. I-16 should be VR friendly.
  12. Same. I've got use to leaning forward, down, around in the cockpit to look at panels and screens. Much more clearer and readable. More realistic I suppose. VR zoom warping is crap. So is that limited in focus sweet spot in the centre of view. Only use zoom myself for spotting outside. Like I have a pair of binoculars. VR gives a real good workout in DCS. Need to hit the gym just to fly sims.
  13. Mod download also has mission file in it. I just drop the mission file in DCS mission folder. Have not installed the LSO mod. Also on Stingers site I downloaded the repaint of Stennis flight deck showing wire caught. After trapping at moment of stopping look left out of cockpit at deck and it will show number 1,2,3 or 4.
  14. I must have watched Wags and Lex video on case 1 recovery 50 times. But using the VFA-113 Stingers LSO carrier Quals mission really helped me to nail getting the on speed AOA in those few seconds from coming out of the break onto the 180 to hearing the LSO paddles contact. Repetition had me hitting the altitudes, bank angle off the 180, flying AOA to the 90 and wings level in the groove. But I spent days going so long in the groove I kept two Sidewinders ready for that damn Airbus that kept cutting me off! Thanks Stingers.
  15. Msaa x2 and PD 1.5 or 1.6 set in Oculus Tray Tool and AF maxed works best for me. Most settings med to high. No shadows at all. (Fine with jets, miss shadows down low in Helos but it's a trade off) Small missions only. But no doubt I need more than 4.2Ghz processor, even with 1080ti. And yes line up good, getting better since watching Lex's 2 YouTube video's on boat ops. Brilliant! Explains it all so clearly. But my 51 year old eyes still struggle to see the ball clearly in those first few important seconds rolling wings level into the groove. I just concerntrate on the flight path marker, on speed AOA and wires. Having a blast????
  16. I have an older I7 processor, 3930K running at 4.2Ghz, 16 GB ram, dedicated SSD, 1080ti no OC. I have the Oculus Rift. Persian Gulf map with F/A-18. Using 2xmsaa, PD 1.6, no shadows, textures, terrain, water, visibility on high, deferred shading on, grass and trees half on, rain on, global cockpit illum off. I have a very smooth VR experience with small scale missions. No problems reading instruments. Non VR maxed out looks great but can't go back. VR is the bomb! Only VR problem I'm having with carrier ops training is seeing the ball once I've rolled into the groove. It might not be realistic but wish there was an option for a small pop up window of the ball. Just left of the HUD would be nice. But as I say, not realistic.
  17. Thanks, Module Manager worked great. Now I know what that's for.
  18. Not wanting to sound impatient, but can we have a DCS: UH-1H Huey version 1.2.4.11855 to download. Current version in Downloads/Modules is version 1.2.4.11652. Unfortunately I auto updated DCS World before purchasing Huey and it will not install. "Can't install UH-1H 1.2.4.11652 into newer DCS World 1.2.4.11855. Please, download UH-1H Huey 1.2.4.11855 installer." Thanks Edit: Sorry, just realized the DCS World update is only 24 hours old. I accept it may take time to load up UH-1H 1.2.4.11855 for downloading. I'm just keen to get into it :)
  19. I lost my simming virginity in 1987 to Spectrum Holobyte Falcon AT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falcon_AT Followed in 1989 with LucasArts Battle of Britian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Their_Finest_Hour:_The_Battle_of_Britain
