  1. this is the a10c tacan panel coding from the control reference. right channel selector DcsBios::RotaryEncoder tacan1("TACAN_1", "DEC", "INC", PIN_A, PIN_B); left channel selector DcsBios::RotaryEncoder tacan10("TACAN_10", "DEC", "INC", PIN_A, PIN_B); the encoder should have middle pin to gnd on arduino and the 2 out side pins on encoder are pin a and b. im not sure how encoders go with arduino just hooked up i know other devices u need to wire in diodes to make them work abit better. im fairly new to dcs bios myself but so far ive been able to get most things to work in the M2000
  2. sounds like everyone is getting prepared for the fa18 module lol
  3. ok i got the idea to work. i just need to figure out motor speed as atm its not spinning fast enough to transfer noticeable vibrations
  4. depending on aircraft you can. it also allows for volume knob and some more.
  5. just a quick question from a newbie. i have the m2000c library and im working with the rpm gauge needle DcsBios::ServoOutput nRpm(0x6058, 9, 544, 2400); i can control a servo just fine but id like to control a small dc motor from a playstation controller in my joystick to add slight vibration. when i connect the motor to gnd and pin 9 it whines as its not being supplied enough voltage? i have some L298N h bridges and if i understand correctly i should be able to use them to control the motors speed with pulse width modulation. this is where im lost. ive been watching tutorials on how to do it standalone but linking it to dcs bios has got me stuck. could anyone point me in the right direction. again im very new to this and basicly just winging it :P
  6. i like the concept , im slowly getting my controllers together before i decide on my final chair. atm ive used recycled junk "even the monitor on the wall was in the garbage dumb " i find i can control most parts on the aircraft with my hotas using mouse but i have some extra switches on the side for simple things like gear up/down , flaps. audible warner and so on. i intend to have a similar setup to your model that will allow more controls without the need to see them. here is my setup atm.
  7. i personally fly centre stick but with an extension. i dont see the point of having a centre stick without the extension. an extension of even 4 inches will allow you to make smaller inputs with larger movements which is generally easier to handle. if u move an extended stick 2 inches at the top the botton would probably equal 15 to 20 % of the axis input. with a non extended stick to make an input of 15% you would have to move the stick half a cm or so. i find adding an extension , a stiffer spring and a good profile to the curves you can fly so much smoother which is what i want as a lead position in a formation squad.
  8. i dont think there are any on the market yet. only diy. but id expect to pay 800+ for one.
  9. nice idea but i cant see the small rollers handling a sudden change in direction with a 90kg pilot. i personally think for VR a G seat is the best option. prolonged turns are simulated with pressure rather then spinning on the spot or turning to a point then stopping.
  10. i have 2 logitech 3d extreme joysticks. i use 1 for my diy throttle. the issue is both are seen with the same name which gets really confusing when trying to configure controls. even worse is if i disconnect a joystick my controls that are saved for that stick switch to the other stick and i have to reconfigure them. i have gone into the registry and tried changing the name of my throttle to throttle but now both show throttle. anyone have any ideas to get around this
  11. if your handy and have a spare usb cable i would touch the black and red wires to the contact points without the batteries in and see how bright it is on the 5 volts supplied. going slightly less volts should run it just it will be slightly less bright. i have done this with some battery operated colour bar lights that run on 4.5 volts , running them on 5 volts has not damaged them in the last 6 months they have been operating.
  12. i just use the mouse cursor locked to my point of view and the left and right click assigned to my hotas. sometimes the cursor will vanish on me so i wonder if its possible to have a pinky switch to make it visible. not that it bothers me but people seem to be funny about that.
  13. ive messed with this before , i build on the cheap and by that i mean i go to the garbage dump and find old lcd monitors to take the back light panel out of them which is normal 3 to 5mm plexiglass with this same pattern. then they very thin Fresnel lenses and some diffusing sheets to evenly spread the light.
  14. i have the mouse cursor locked to my head movements and i have assigned left and right click to my throttle. never had an issue in full clickable cockpits and my throttle is currently a logitech 3d pro mounted onto some pvc pipe and pop stick arms to move the potentiometer.
  15. i think its funny people are not happy with 200 fov high res screens and good tracking and are asking for more more more. id be asking for more time and effort put into the production process to avoid the same thing that happened to the oculus dk1 where many people got told the headset would be sent on a certain date then 6 months later they still didn't have it as they were producing them a few 1000 at a time which took them forever. if pimax mass produce to deliver everyone's at the same time they will have the same quality issues as the 4k with dust in it and dodgy cables.
  16. that video looks very dark through the lens are they using shutter filters like they did on the 4k ?
  17. turn all settings to low and see if it is the same. multiplayer really effects preformance. i can normally run medium settings in single player with my pimax and pd at 1.5 in multiplayer i have to run pd 1.0 and everything on the lowest.
  18. there were a batch of 4k that had bad lenses with foggy centers. pimax either would replace the headset or send out new lenses. the software and customer support are the bad sides to the headset. if talking hardware the tracking is, get alot of drift and is compairable to my vuzix vr920 from 10 years ago. i can deal with the drifting as most of the time it works but the constant issue with dust on my screen is bad.
  19. this is my video and and im not backing the 8k yet. the 4k is a nice unit but the difference u will find between the vive and cv1 compared to the pimax units is quality control. if you guys want anymore videos just suggest them to me. my wish atm is that dcs world is natively supported by pimax so i dont have to use oculus software.
  20. ive always found i have a pretty realistic seat point in vr. when u fly out of vr u need to be zoomed out to view more but in vr u can look around so its more realistic.
  21. cool thanks. i have 24gb ram and i normaly run preload on minimal as my pc is pretty low spec so will give it a try.
  22. when you mention preload on ram , did u mean graphics card ram or motherboard. thanks.
  23. would be cool if they implemented hand signals either via keypress or using hand tracking. then once we have the f14 everyones top gun dream will come true.
  24. i own the pimax 4k and i run my pixel density around 1.5 on a low end system with a 1050 ti. i mostly fly the mirage these days and with VR zoom i have no issues with visibility. i have used a dk2 and it is a big difference but i think if u can run the CV1 at 2.0 pd with high textures and make use of the vr zoom feature u should not have an issue. the bonus u get with oculus is it really is an easy setup while pimax emulate the oculus and vive. the latest pi play software update added features for the 8k tracking with is bad because this software is complete rubbish. for me to play dcs i have to run pi play , oculus home and steam vr. if i want to play a vr title i must first install it with oculus home and then reopen pi play and it might show up. but worst of all i am consistently having issues with my device being detected between software. i may take a flight and its fine then i go for a 20 min break for a snack and come back and when i reopen dcs the pimax just goes black and i have to restart my pc, grrrr. the pimax company is not that great either. they advertised built in microphone and when we asked on the forum about it they told us sorry no mic, and now have 2 models of the 4k, one is a oled 2k screen but advertised as 4k afaik. they spoke to the guys at tested about the 8k and it was very hard for them to get a straight answer out of them but it seems like the true 8k model will need 2 1080's at least.
  25. went into saved games in windows and found dcs and dcs open beta. i uninstalled 2.0 because i was having activation issues with modules in 1.5 but the saved games folder was still there. i deleted it and now the issue is completely gone. i dont know why or if it is the reason for the issue but at least i can fly the mirage again :D
