  1. This is wrong. The GUID is generated by Windows upon recognition of the device, true. But its the same everytime, no matter what USB port you use. It's also the same if you reinstall. Trust me, I've done it plenty of times. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that if the GUID is different for the your controller, you just rename the lua file to the same as your current controller.
  2. Not had an issue with that. I back up my settings before applying a patch or doing a reinstall.
  3. Heres my X52 profile: Put it in C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick Job done. Saitek X52 Flight Controller {07CFF530-4D05-11e1-8001-444553540000}.lua
  4. I would not recommend using the profile software at all. You can bind everything you need in the game.
  5. I'd happily fly with you :)
  6. I have it installed :)
  7. My wishlist: 1. Dedicated server software 2. List of players in server via lobby 3. Ability to read the full mission briefing 4. Hard time limit before rotation (settable via the mission editor, so creator set the expected time to completion) 5. Multiplayer logbook. Hours flown/Kills/Crashes etc. Promotion linked to account.
  8. I'm not that convinced. I think I prefer the old ones. My reasoning. The explosion seems to be too uniform and also very short lived. I've tried editing the lua file but it seems theres a hard limit on the effect (around 10 seconds). What im getting at, when the explosion occurs the 'streamers' seem to jet out then stop all of a sudden, then gradually fall to the ground. This isn't in the least bit realistic. Also the animation itself seems to be more like a bomb hitting the ground and then explosive force eminating from a specific spot upwards. This would be more accurate for dumb bombs or LGBs but not for missiles which hit the target mostly from the side at an angle. I appreciate this new and beta, but I would just like to suggest a couple of items: 1. Different styles of explosion to match the ordinance used. For example a Maverick would cause something different to a LGB. 2. Lingering smoke from the detonation not just the resulting fire. For example, when a maverick strikes a tank from the side, the initial smoke and dust kicked up by the explosion firstly moves in the direction of the impact and then is carried by the wind away from the target area and eventually disipates. 3. The smoke stack effect should happen more immediately and then slow to a more gradual pace. At the moment it seems like someone is just lighting a barbecue. After the initial impact, there seems to be a slight pause before the smoke from the target starts to climb. The smoke would actually be indistinguishable from the impact initially. I suspect this is already being worked on, but I thought I just submit my 2p. I've looked at the smoke/explosions mod and its a good start, just a shame about the lack of variety of explosions available.
  9. I have a X52 stick. Don't use the profiler! It's rubbish, it crashes and is generally just a PITA! If you've installed it, uninstall your drivers and all Saitek software then reinstall just the stick drivers. You can map everything you need and more using the in game controls. If you would like to try out my profile I'd be happy to send you it over.
  10. Yes. Make your TAD SOI then move the cursor over the red triangle. TMS forward short to hook then TMS forward long to make SPI. You can then slew all sensors to that area. For what its worth this is my approach to finding targets: 1. Approach the target area. 2. When around 5 miles out (if searching for SHORAD make sure its around 7 to 8 miles), make a hard left turn so that your target area is approximately 60 degrees to your right. 4. Slew your TGP to the target area. 5. Enable ALT autopilot 6. Start a 5 degree right bank 7. Enable autopilot 8. Use the TGP at your leisure. Make sure you dont wander too far off course. Disengage autopilot and adjust as needed then re-enable. Keep your search pattern methodical. Use the orientation dot on the TGP to keep tabs on where you are relative to your search.
  11. Yeah I was in an A10. I'll see if I can replicate it and post up a track.
  12. I was just playing DRAGONS The Bay and was about to attack the 1st BUK site. I kept the site to my left and was flying parallel which I thought was well out of range. I had a lot of Radar searches and also had a lock on to my aircraft. Then I heard the missile launch warning. I looked out to the left and saw the white trail rise into the sky. However, I had a gut feeling that it was out of range. I did some minor evasive maneuvres while dropping chaff, I kept the missile in my field of view but it just exploded way short of my aircraft. Possibly a mile or two away. I didn't move the aircraft away from the site, I kept it parallel. I kept doing this until the site was out of missiles. Is this right?
  13. Hmm from my point of view, after setting up a test mission, a stationary M1 tank can't even destroy a line of defenseless trucks without missing some of the time.
  14. I'm trying to talk to the LUA scripts in the scripts\net directory but im ensure as to which 'main' file to call. Is there one file which exposes functions in all the others or do I need to call a file individually? Is there any documentation regarding accessing these functions?
  15. I've never had that much issue with the netcode. The one thing that not having a dedicated server causes is players having to host on domestic connections, which can cause issues if the player isn't familiar with how to setup their network or is unaware of software eating up their bandwidth. Dedicated server software is a must if this game is going to survive long term.
  16. Operation pilot search is a great mission. The only downsize the mission file size is huge so takes a while to download to the clients, which makes it look like nothing is happening for ages. Then users disconnect. My ideal public server would be a rotation of missions which are simple yet challenging. After 90minutes or so the server rotates to a new mission. I beleive there is a trigger in the mission editing options that allows you to load a mission file? Surely someone could create a 'joined up' mission structure that allows the server to rotate and keep things fresh? I totally understand why server admins keep things locked but as you say I only have a couple of hours to play, so having to jump onto teamspeak is just another hoop that can be a pain to deal with. I'd be up for creating a mission rotation if someone has got some ideas.
  17. I'm sure it'll buff out! Didn't get the guy with the Igla insurance details though
  18. Hmm could be PSU not providing enough power. What PSU do you have?
  19. Ok. Now its not working for A10C either and was earlier today before I bought CA.
  20. Invalid Serial number with CA Hi I've just purchased Combined Arms and entered the code to activate CA. When I log into multiplayer it says Invalid Serial number. Any ideas why? My log in is correct and is the same for my A10C module.
  21. Ok forget I said anything.
  22. Is there a definitive list of available LUA functions? With documentation if possible.
  23. If I download DCS:World on its own with no modules (which is free) can I host a MP session which allows other modules to connect? In essence a free server? Even though it still has the GUI etc loaded?
