In my opinion the ability to have persistant semi-dynamic missions is the only route DCS: World can take now.
To take advantage of the miriad of options that will soon be introduced into the sim we can only see it come to life if there are a lot of players in a mission that will take hours to complete. Along with a mission rotation/refresh system on completion.
As it stands now, the player base would be stretched to the limit and would probably dilute the experience for some as players now experiment with different areas of the sim. Will an A10C pilot still have as many pilots to fly with? Will a CA commander have that many real life players to relay information to?
It's early days, but im wondering what EDs long term plan really is? Without the option of dedicated server software I can see it would be nearly impossible to live out DCS:Worlds full potential.
If there are no plans to improve upon the multiplayer framework as it stands, are we all just kidding ourselves?
I love what ED are doing, but I am looking to put my mind at ease but can't find any reliable source that says the longevity is assured.
