  1. I would imagine it will be added sooner or later.
  2. Basically. 1. Download and install DCS:World for free 2. Have fun in the SU25T if you wish 3. Purchase a new module using the icons at the bottom (if you want to) 4. Have fun.
  3. Probably get a Player X killed Player Y with Ubermissile!
  4. I think someone should knock up a quick capture the airfield mission or something with all the assets available to us.
  5. Well thats fine. However the current multiplayer system is basic at best. The fact that servman is required for even the most basic of tools is a little bit of a joke. The future of DCS looks exciting, but it would be even more exciting of multiplayer got a bit more love than it has done over the years.
  6. The initial annoucement of World, CA and and FC3 was something like that.
  7. In my opinion the ability to have persistant semi-dynamic missions is the only route DCS: World can take now. To take advantage of the miriad of options that will soon be introduced into the sim we can only see it come to life if there are a lot of players in a mission that will take hours to complete. Along with a mission rotation/refresh system on completion. As it stands now, the player base would be stretched to the limit and would probably dilute the experience for some as players now experiment with different areas of the sim. Will an A10C pilot still have as many pilots to fly with? Will a CA commander have that many real life players to relay information to? It's early days, but im wondering what EDs long term plan really is? Without the option of dedicated server software I can see it would be nearly impossible to live out DCS:Worlds full potential. If there are no plans to improve upon the multiplayer framework as it stands, are we all just kidding ourselves? I love what ED are doing, but I am looking to put my mind at ease but can't find any reliable source that says the longevity is assured.
  8. It'll be interesting now that player controlled SHORADs can now hide by driving into a wood or behind a building :)
  9. Excellent stuff. :) Now all we need are dedicated servers ;)
  10. Bah, can't purchase until monday! :(

    Sound

I was at RIAT 2012 at the weekend and I realised something. The sound in DCS: Anything isn't all that great. Are there plans to change the sound engine in anyway. The way jets sound in the air as they move around is full of different pitches and tones that don't seem to get modelled in the sim as yet. I also noticed the whine from jet engines as they pass by on the run way as they land while the engine is spooling down and other cool sounds. It would add a lot to the immersion if this kind of thing was added.
  12. Someone needs to take the original Russian version of the Wiki editing guide and translate it properly. Seems it was just run through google translate.
  13. Good idea. Supply drops would be good too. Perhaps resupplying airfields and FARPs?
  14. Edit: Appologies.. to big files.
  15. I love the idea of the collaborative ground/air missions, but for that we need a lot of players for it to be effective. I'm not sure that we have that yet? Also, the lack of dedicated server software throws a major spanner in the works.
  16. Interesting. In the tutorials, certain buttons are highlighted when they are talked about. Is it possible to script this using the editor? Can it be done for objects on the ground too?
  17. Yes they dispense according to the perceived threat. It's better to use semi-auto mode to save wasting counter measures for false alarms.
  18. Crap. Saw the existing thread
  19. Anyone going? I'm hoping the weather isn't too bad. Sunshine and light showers, which is ok for a British summer. Theres going to be a Polish MiG 29 there ;)
  20. More servers in the 1.1.1.1 version. Albeit, most are locked.
  21. Just looked at ORBX... Wow!
  22. Cant connect either
  23. My concern is that if 3rd Party addons do not consistently meet the quality we've all come to expect from ED, the reputation of ED and the platform itself will become diluted. I appreciate the fact that users can review the addon first and get feedback from existing users but I think I would prefer a handfull of awesomely modelled addons upto the quality of ED products, than a whole collection of items of questionable quality. Thats not to say that the open platform is not a good thing but over the last couple of weeks we've seen enthusiastic posts from 3rd Party devs who have elevated the expectation of the community to great heights. The promise of jets that we all know have highly top secret aspects have to be greeted with some sort of scepticism. And this begs the question, why bother with a 3rd Party addon that is dumbed down since the data it's built on is a best guess? This is my main concern, I would be more excited if jets were being made for which we knew the devs could get hold of reliable and accurate data. I know we have a choice, but I won't be rushing out to buy the F-22 because I know it'll be a fantasy mod rather than something as real as it can be.
  24. Colour me concerned also. I'm a bit worried that the sim will be flooded with any old toss.
  25. Roger that Hawg 1-1, you said I didn't have the balls for this job, well watch this! Engaging armour!
