  1. Those Root Beer rounds are deadly!
  2. Ok I was doing that. It dumps chaff too right?
  3. Ha, Mosquito, what an awesome aircraft. Flying Legend?
  4. Oh right myKnowledge += 1 Thanks
  5. I was under the impression it was passive? So I need to switch it on?
  6. Yes, it degrades over time and releases lots of nasty chemicals.
  7. Would dropping chaff delay the ability for a SAM to launch its missiles or once I am being tracked is it too late?
  8. Excellent thanks!
  9. Scenario: I am approaching an enemy target area. There is a radar guided sam site near by. It starts tracking me, so I drop chaff. Is this the right thing to do? Is chaff only usefull for trying to evade an incomming radar missile or breaking a lock or both? How does the ALQ ECM react to these situations and do I need to do anything to make it more effective? At the moment, as soon as I hear a radar has locked on to me I start dropping chaff and turn away and put the threat on my six, unless I am close enough to the target to risk an attack.
  10. I've done this before, but I can't for the life of me remember how its done. I have some AI aircraft parked on the airfield but I don't want them to take off until a trigger event has occured. Any ideas?
  11. Contary to popular beleif depleted uranium is not that radioactive. It's a relatively stable isotope unlike what people think it is, which is Uranium-235 used in nuclear warheads and reactors. It's only cause for concern when it's vapourised or ingested somehow as the alpha particles emitted from the atoms as they breakdown don't travel very far. There are probably things around your house which are more radioactive. Nice thing to have, more than likely not a DU round anyway :) DU rounds are used because they are dense, which allows easier penetration through armour :)
  12. I've been enjoying building new missions with the editor. I love the trigger system and the simplicity in which you can build complex missions. So great job ED. I do have a wish list though, mostly related to triggers, some may already be wished for by others: 1. 3 dimensional trigger zones. Instead of just an area on the map where they can be placed, it would be good if you can define width length and height, plus a z-axis to provide a point in space. This would allow triggers to be activated when a plane is a certain height and deactivated when they are below a height. Possible scenarios would be the ability to create a virtual glideslope to airfields for training or the ability to control airspace in general. 2. Trigger zone shapes Different shapes of trigger zones would be very usefull if you wanted to be very accurate with their placement. 3. NOT operators This would allow AND, AND NOT, OR, OR NOT expressions in the trigger system. 4. Action delays/timeout When an action occurs, allow the ability to delay that action for specified time. 5. Interaction with player/client/unit within triggers Allow the ability to adjust properties of a client/player/unit with a trigger. This would allow restriction of zones (for example areas out of bounds at an airfield) or simulate failures. 6. Ability to dynamically report unit names within messages When a unit enters a trigger which then activates a message, some kind of token to dynamically change the message. For example MESSAGE TO ALL "%playername% has entered the zone" 7. Movable zones As part of an action, zones could move to a specified x,y,z axs on certain conditions. Dynamic front lines anyone? 8. Visible zones on F10 map Allow coloured visible trigger zones in the F10 map. I've only recently started with the editor so some of this 'may' be possible already, but I haven't found if it is. Thanks
  13. Not unless the camera inside the TGP has an inner roll system. That would allow 3 dimensional movement. The outercasing allows Pitch and Roll, while the camera inside has an additional roll mechanism which would allow the TGP to keep the image in the correct orientation. Just a guess.
  14. Yeah zoom using the keyboard to stop it. I always have my field of view so that the edge of the cockpit frame is just short of the sides of the monitor.
  15. Hmm pretty sure I saw a SA9 that was back firing missiles in 15 minutes or so.
  16. Wow someone needs to teach these rebels how to use a camera. :D
  17. Crashing again tonight. 1932BST
  18. As an answer (probably already addressed) There is no active FLIR on the TGP. You can use WHOT (White hot) and BHOT (Black hot) modes by using the boat switch (Forward and Aft) to switch between these modes which may help.
  19. Early days
  20. I was running a process monitor on DCS.exe the other day trying to work out if I could see where it was crashing when logging into the Master Server. On doing so I noticed it was writing a huge amount of .tr files as well as large .trk (track files during the game) into %temp%\dcs I know that all application write temporary files away, but could DCS tidy up after itself? There was approximately 300mb of files just sat there doing nothing. The amount of file writes in general during the game is pretty huge, which begs the question how much of a performance hit does this have on the game itself. It might be good to have an option to record tracks by pressing a key combination rather than just recording them by default. Just an observation.
  21. http://Www.flight-sim-fanatics.com Relaxed group of very cool people from all over!
  22. This is pretty unacceptable to be honest.
  23. As an ARMA 2 player the engine in terms of multiplayer stinks. And has done ever since Operation Flashpoint. I would say CA has potential to be a much more hardcore ARMA if it focuses on infantry and ground operations but ARMA has a huge headstart and a massive fanbase. It would be difficult to entice the ARMA crowd to take a look at CA unless it accomodates what ARMA fans love about the series.
  24. I suspected as much. As the AM radio says AM in it's title.
  25. Yes you can. Although technically the laser code for the weapon is set on the ground with a screw driver then set in the profile. If you click on the LGB in DSMS, click Prof then you can set the LSR code in there (I think from memory). On the TGP, type in your laser code on the UFC then click the button labelled LSS
