  1. But isn't UDP even worse in that respect? It has no transmission control mechanism and is generally considered low priority in some cases. At least with TCP you can pretty much rely on the packet arrival instead of having potential gaps. UDP is generally used for broadcast, DHCP responses or streaming media afaik.
  2. UDP is a rediculous protocol to use in a sim where accuracy and reliability is key. It would be better to use TCP even if the server overheads are higher.
  3. The big problem with that is, how do you convice new customers to install a new operating system they know nothing about just to play a game? Not worth the effort.
  4. Sweet ta
  5. Where is the actual file located? :) Thanks
  6. Just wondering, does this work in multiplayer environments? I assume that the mission builders require the Export flag set to true for it to work? Or is this just single player?
  7. Try using easy communication (set in options).
  8. Not all games on Steam require steam to run though. But I get your point.
  9. I'm sure the JTAC frequency is listed in the briefing.
  10. Hmm I think there is JTAC. It's the one where the camp is on the hill right?
  11. I dont think it matters since the skeets pick out the targets anyway.
  12. Or you could tap in the co-ordinates given by JTAC?
  13. I would love to see a Libya/North Africa map. /dreams.
  14. Whats the story behind that?
  15. Probably too much processing overhead for a flight simulator. I'm wondering though, is Nevada part of the EDGE engine?
  16. Shoot random things on the ground on the way to the target area and follow the path of destruction back home?
  17. True but the A10 is incapable of going fast enough for the reticule to appear at low altitudes. It's much more of a guestimate.
  18. It always struck me as odd. I'm sure this is a translational thing, as I'm sure it sounds a lot cooler in Russian than it does in English. For my part I have never seen, nor do I think I ever will, see a cliff that is 'flaming'. Maybe if someone had a large barbecue at the base of the white cliffs of dover things could change... What was the decision behind the name? Just curious.
  19. Isn't there HARS as a backup? I think theres quite a few systems for nav so it would be pretty catasrophic if they all failed. Maybe if the earth suddenly reversed it's poles.
  20. What about 42 and a half? :D
  21. Convenience I suppose... I agree though, a lot more has to be done to encourage new players into the multiplayer community. Hate to say it, some of this community does come across as elitist in terms of accepting new players who, initially, don't know what they are doing. It took me quite a few attempts to find a flying community that accepts players (skilled or otherwise) who just want to have fun. Personally I find it a great priviledge to help new players get to grips with the game.
  22. Hmm to be honest, I did complete the training missions but can't remember what they said. I might go over them again. Getting community feedback is valuable though
  23. What is the point of retarded bombs then? If it's so awkward to aim your bombs using the regular 82s how can retarded bombs be of any use? I can understand using them on fast movers at low altitiude
