  1. It's also quite difficult since when you start the dive your target is usually below the HUD/Cockpit frame making it difficult to correct when you dive. Should speed brakes be employed when diving?
  2. heh... flaperons
  3. I guess the A10 isn't fast enough to project the impact point far enough infront of the aircraft. Are retarded bombs any better?
  4. I've always had a bit of an issue with dumb bombs. Maybe it's a case of RTFM but... The CCIP pipper is always outside of the HUD so I can't see it, but if I increase my AoA it appears. Does this mean at medium to low altitudes it's hard to bomb a target? It seems that I have to be in a steep 30 to 40 degree dive before I can properly see the pipper so I can 'put the thing on the thing' and pull the trigger. Any advice welcome!
  5. Welcome! Happy to set up a training flight with you if you need any help!
  6. Is the heli in range? I think you should change from continuous to trigger once. As this will trigger once for when the unit enters the zone and once for when it exits. A continuous would constantly turn the ZSU AI on/off which causing it not to fire. Perhaps.
  7. I'm picking it up on Friday.
  8. I suppose when you've tasted a good steak, its hard to go back to burger. As tasty as that could be.
  9. v1qnryNwYr8 I made this video last night. Hope it proves useful and entertaining! Note, it might not be viewable in Germany because of a song I used :(
  10. I'm involved with FSF too. I will be around for a flight tonight. If anyone wants to learn flying the A10C I will be happy to host a training mission.
  11. Very cool. With the monitors, do you think it could be possible to remove the bezel and have the LCD matricies side by side so there is no plastic obscuring the view?
  12. So basically the Chinese are buying second hand cold war relics for carriers and knocking off current-gen western fighters. Im sure that'll work out for them.
  13. Wow some people have a rod up their a** I'd like to see more 'drop in and play' servers which are unpassworded but I see the benefits of passwording too. It's the difference between having a kick around down the local park or joining a team.
  14. No model, no effects, no cockpit, nothing. For people who want to make movies while following aircraft realistically, the specator plane has no flight model to speak of but handles much like a plane would and has infinite speed. Can also hover! It has no clipping model so can't collide with objects. Ok... basically a free cam that doesn't suck as much as CTRL+F11. It would make following aircaft much easier for those super cinematic shots. Perhaps you could select what 'flight model' it has. From flying brick to large aircraft.
  15. If he wants to produce a mission where people duke it out then thats part of the variety. It shouldn't matter to you. OP, I would do something like the first reply. Just make sure you have a warning zone too perhaps.
  16. I think the CBU87 explosion problem is due to the fact that the explosions themselves are not particle effects. They use a single circular texture with an alpha channel applied to it (so its semi transparent). The explosion ejects the textures to create the effect. This is fine for one explosion but for a CBU87 which can be dozens, I'm thinking the engine can't render the textures fast enough nor compute their trajectory effeciently. Using a directx particle emitter would be much more effecient (rendered on the gfx card) but it would take time to produce.
  17. Hmm nothing beats not getting shot at. All very well having cover formations but thats no garantee of keeping your buddy safe. Better to have two pairs of eyes looking for threats first and eliminating/avoiding them before going for the main objective.
  18. Yep. Weapon systems are only as good as their users.
  19. I would rather have scratches and slight cockpit fogging/rain droplets.
  20. I really want to give something back to the community. I'm an established .NET programmer (of 15 years) and would dearly like to develop a lobby system for DCS. I am experienced and I know I can write something very useful to the community. The only issue is, there is no documentation on how lobby communications work. After inspecting the packets leaving my PC on connection to the ED master server I know that it uses a customised Jabber protocol that is TLS encrypted (like SSL). Are there any plans to release an SDK or webservice that provides authentication/server listings or is there anyway that ED could release details on the lobby protocol? High hopes I know, but I know I can do something very cool for the community if I could just get my hands on that information.
  21. All this could be redundant if scientists perfect invisibility cloaks that cloak everything from microwave to visible light.
  22. Out of interest, is there a way to show the map texture in the editor? I thought there was...
  23. If I suspect MANPADs in the target area I give it a good old look with the TGP and Eyeball MK1 before I run in. I also set up a CSM program to dispense a flare every second for 10 seconds or so as I approach the target, then I egress quickly, dispensing flares along the way
