  1. Rgr that. Look forward to seeing what else dcs 2.0 brings to the table.
  2. It's ridiculous how much better it is than trac ir 5. Sitting in the ka50 or a10 or heck any aircraft it's amazing how you are their. One thing I notice right off the bat is how much less I feel the need to move my head around for SA in the rift compared to my other screen setup with trac ir. not to mention the perception of the actual 3d space and flight in general is amazing.
  3. Lol I like how the article say the a10 sustained critical damage during a aerial refueling operation then does a 180 talking about surface to air missiles. What ever happened it should be expected our birds will take damage when they are down getting their noses bloody.
  4. Ya, terminal ballistics aka better damage modeling on the things we kill. Our aircraft is great, so I guess the question would be is CA getting a major damage modeling update? Also a side bit the gau 8 ballistic spread is to great currently. It wasn't always like this.
  5. Well I do pretty good with it at its current state. I keep trying to go back to my other screen setup in my sig bit I keep going back to the rift it's just to dam good for flying. Combat is great now to after time in the device and great settings
  6. I think it's been brought up, but I also wonder what new advances just with the whole simulation aspect of dcs 2.0 will be? Ya the graphic fidelity will be epic, but I'm hoping some ballistics modeling gets enhanced along with armor values and abilities to disable vehicles not just destroy. I'm no computer programmer I shoot guns for a living but I imagine with the offload of processes from the processor to the gpu/s that would open up more room for simulation fidelity I wonder...
  7. I hear ya but I wonder has the vive been used with an flight simulator ? Those cheap little vr demos are far from a flight sim. My concern is they will just shoot the 5 meter tgt that being fluidity for demos and not look at the 300m tgt like real games or simulators.
  8. Every time I post anything I post from my experiences, not others. I would not say what I say if I have not experienced it first hand.
  9. If you have to ask their is no point in talking about our operations. Your mind is set. Take the time to read the thread and I'm sure you'll get an idea. 12 years in the army you say? Must be stuck in the box for all 12 if you think arty is more of an Effective platform for our need in cas operations then the A10. Hey I have allot of pride myself with the type of career ive had so far and the type of units I've been part of. Biggest and most effective thing to do is check pride at the door and realize everybody's operational needs and requirements are much different across the Army. Again what you fellas experience in the sand box is totally different than what we do. Leave it at that. Thanks for your service, in the 18 years I've been in, so far we've gone through allot of different platforms for our needs. Biggest thing I have learned is be prepared for anything and be thankful to have pilots with balls over head. I'll list like somebody else in this thread our most preferred cas platforms for our operations is as following. Ac-130 Ah64 A10 Beginning of the whole sandbox vacation ya arty was very useful when applied correctly. Thing is nowadays our operations have changed slightly for us anyways and we use mainly what was listed above currently.
  10. I don't buy that though. As everybody is different as far as tolerances go. I get no sickness what so ever where as others get sick immediately with dcs world. Vive and oculus can hype the whole no more sickness they want. It all depends on the person. 75 frames is plenty good for me I'm just looking forward to a bump in resolution for dcs world.
  11. Sorry bud but your regular army inside the box mindset has shown your inexperience. I can speak for the community I'm in and we regularly use the a10 and is the most effective fix wing for our operations. It's not blind faith in a airframe, it's called combat experience that has proven its worth for many Oda's in my neck of the woods. Your still very young in the army and sorry what your type of unit does is nothing in contrast to what mine would and has done there for requirements are much different. Just because a10s rock for us and our mission set doesn't mean it will for your type of unit. Battlefield is broad spectrum and that's something the regular army can't grasp. Pride of an airframe.......
  12. Sorry bro got busy work mid stroke. What I was trying to say is generally the a10c pilots are more in simple terms alphas. Put them in an f18 or b52 and ya maybe they would calm down a bit. One thing is true airframes do bring out certain attitudes In talking to some over seas they are allot like us.
  13. Not true in my experience.
  14. Pure alpha sex appeal lol. But on serious note they the hog drivers have a much better attitude and relationship and understanding of U.S. ground operators.
  15. Aircraft is nothing without the pilot. Has everything to do with capabilities of pilot and mentality. A10 pilots are some of the best out their and it has shown on our operations. Their willingness to get their nose bloody far out weighs many other airframe pilots we have worked or should say tried to work with.
  16. One thing I can add is the user friendly attitude and mentality of the Hog drivers. I've called in various aircraft and guys and gals flying the Hog are very user friendly and just like on of the boys.
  17. To be honest that is the best thing we can do right now, wait until we have hands on it. In meantime some aspects should be discussed in regards to the new engine. It's only healthy I think.
  18. From what has been stated 2.0 will only have two threads on the processor just like the current engine. Sli/crossfire is stated to have better support with new engine. So brute power or high overclock on processor is more important than having a 4 core or 8 core processor with current dcs world and from what it looks like will be the same in dcs 2.0
  19. Mission dependent and also dependent upon flight plan and fuel conservation requirements.
  20. Definately sounds like sli bridge. But just in case their is two spots on your cards you can attach the sli bridge try changing the spots. That actually worked for my 980's
  21. Don't think most are even caring about the shiny graphics with dx 11 or 12 for that matter. What interests myself and many others is the improved performance that they will bring to the sim.
  22. From my knowledge it's an ongoing process. snoopy would probably know 100 percent but from what I have seen all sorts of various different Aircraft and drone platforms have been talked about. That's all way above our heads in the scheme of things unfortunately.
  23. Me too brother. But in all honesty it's better to have a good functioning product rather than a buggy mess.
  24. It's always a hard pill for us active duty folks to swallow. That pill being cost savings. Never a good time to serve. Will be interesting to see what else changes with our air platforms.
