You don't need to signifigantly upgrade the processor. Something like in Ethereal's sig, the i7-2600k ( I have non-K version ) should kick DCS's rear bad. No Haswell or 3000 needed. For safety with GFX go with Nvidia. GTX 770 is a good option there. Believe me, I made the mistake of going with the HD6770 with this rig I have now, wanting the step below a top of the line rig, and I ended up with a rig that scores 16th percentile in 3D max, runs DCS ok FPS wise when it feels like it, and won't even bother giving good performance with Arma3/Arma2.

I play only PC exclusive games ;). I know this is a little OT, but should I think about upgrading or OC'ing my i7-2600? Is it OK, or will it be limiting me if I try to play high performance sims/games with a high end gpu like the 770?

Thank you for the response. I didn't really mean that all AMD cards are bad, just that most of them are. For example, the 7950 is pretty close to the highest video card they offer-the 7990, while Nvidia, which goes into their 700 series, as you said is acceptable at 660. Sorry for any confusion.

Hello, I am tired of running my games, arma3 specifically at low and still experiencing massive lag with my BS HD6770. I have an i7-2600 @ 3.4ghz, 12gb of RAM, and a 1920x1200 monitor. I finally figured out that AMD makes crap, so what Nvidia card should I go with? I intend on playing games like arma3, arma2, upcoming DCS games, and steelbeasts, so what should I purchase for a video card? -Thanks

npole- Kinney has been over it a couple times that they can model the F-35 to a realistic extent, it is on their website. I am pretty sure that the F-35 is "done", it is certainly not in the design phase anymore.

I believe this will be one of the higher fidelity simulations in the DCS line. They have already stated that they've done programming for B-2 simulators, etc... I think they can live up to or beat their word.

I would like to point out to some of the people who don't trust Kinney's sole word that they have ED's backing as well.

I think he already said that his team would be up to the challenge of making the DCS code work for them, AFAIK.

Vivoune thank you but I think we have discussed the availability of intelligence issue to death and I for one trust in in Kinney's ability to make a DCS-level product without the guesswork. That will most likely not be the issue.* On your first point, if you want to criticize the F-35 for acting like every other high-performance fighter aircraft in terms of maintenance and in its design phase, then well that is your right. If people complain about getting murdered by the F-35, well they can either develop tactics (human wave lol) or exclude it from the server.

Well the people in your squads are misinformed and wrong. Nowhere did the 3rd parties ever say that their teams are not trying to make their aircraft realistic.

Howie,-I think those "Kids" will probably give up the F-35 after they realize it's not Ace Combat.

From DCS's success, I think that 100% realism is working out pretty well. Make a product people like and it will sell.
