  1. The main problem is that when you join 2 metal materials, the join is never perfect. The resistance will some somewhat higher, but worst is the forming of so called parasitic capacitance. These can interfere with the signal. Even worse when you do it with 2 different materials. And btw: soldiering is not quite bendable. Do it properly or you will suffer from inexplicable connection losses.
  2. Ethernet cables are not re-soldered, ever. Even if you succeed you will not end up with cable of high speeds. Ethernet cables are pressed together with special tool. Now I will remove both mods I have since both have EFMs and retry winsw dcs.log Still the same: even when clean with no mods it hangs. I am surprised there are not more complaints. I suspect people are not running DCS as windows server. One more thing: I do not use system account to run service, but the same account that runs the DCS interactively with no problems.
  5. I am having identical issue with WinSW, I ran multiple variants of configuration parameter with identical log as the original reporter.
  6. @Flappie I believe I already have modular server, since: 1. my installation is only 28GB 2. I still have the original DCS_World_OpenBeta_Server_modular.exe and it is binary identical to the one I just downloaded. Meanwhile I have tried following: 1. did slow repair: completed with no reported issues. 2. configure it to run with the service wrapper WinSW from: https://github.com/winsw/winsw I tried several combinations of start folder, modes and parameters and the reproduced problem is still there: it gets stuck in same place at 100%. Please merge my report into following topic, since this is identical issue. It gets stuck in the same way with just a slight difference is that at the end he gets: 2023-10-19 17:23:17.112 INFO DXGUI_WIN_ADAPTER (Main): resize main window to [1024, 720]
  7. Dudes, how about both stopping at this. We all know it's not good enough and that this is just first iteration. Let's wait for the next version ED releases.
  8. Dear fellow mod developer, I wish you all well to persuade them to remove IC, but realistically I think this is not likely. Downsides of the proposed migration to export (either export.lua or Hooks/your_export.lua) would be you would need to switch to dxgui for the UI and re-implement the whole thing. On the other side you would have a mod that works in any module and does not break IC. (Hopefully this kick into the topic will bring more people to read it ) BR
  9. I think it's a bad idea to modify the game files directly. Exports are better, but I would not recommend using the Export.lua, but rather Scripts/Hooks subfolder. This is at least how I did it in my own mod. It works great since users do not need to edit the export.lua (which they generally tend to screw up), but rather just drop the lua file in the folder: https://github.com/okopanja/SharkPlanner/blob/main/Hooks/SharkPlanner.lua
  10. @FlappieI think I already installed the modular server few months ago (I think around June), since not all the terrains are installed. I will be able to confirm this in the evening. BTW: when I run it from UI I get new splash screens (NVIDIA + ED). In this case there is no 100% usage and server proceeds to work. I used github actions so I can control the server remotely without the need to actively connect to it. By doing this I essentially have a service listed under Windows Service Manager. In this mode the DCS windows does not appear, and I suspect recent changes in the UI initialization of server are causing something to fail and loop, thus causing 100% usage. Clearly I am using the DCS server in a way that is not the way they envisioned, but this way of running a server is a very common thing and actual default windows way of doing it. I think I will try one of the traditional service wrappers to see if this happens with them as well (just to eliminate github actions as contributing factor).   11. I can fly from Tbilisi to Kutaisi and back with 400-500 left in the tank. Important is not to get caught by viper on return leg, since you will get shot in the backs. However if you shoot last round correctly he will be busy dodging that while in the meanwhile reinforcements will arrive.
  12. Yes it was broken even before and is broken even now. But I think this is important to bring to attention of ED with both positive and negative feedback. However, as you have seen, there are practical boundaries on what they can do. E.g. I optimized my monitor to provide what is considered to be more accurate picture, but someone may actually do the opposite the bring those features to be more visible at expensive of faithfulness of picture. Every single gaming monitor today offers you special mode for: e.g. seeing in darkness, having extra sharp contrast picture etc. VRs offer this on a whole new level.
  13. Make sure you run MT. 1. Take the Instant Action: Su-27 bomber run 2. Switch to F10, it already has several waypoints 3. Click on the airplane you control (Su-27, white), (CA dialogs will appear on lower part 4. Click on Set Path 5. Enter 4 waypoints in opposite direction (they should be read target marks, but sometimes green appear as well). 6. Click Set Path again, the new route will be displayed (old one is removed) 7. Switch to F10 8. Start cycling NAV modes with '1', and keep hitting the key until it crashes If this does not work, and you are indeed using the same version as we do, then likely your machine is doing things faster/slower than mine or Null's. In concurrent programming, situations such as this are called "race conditions". Due to the concurrent nature, on one machine execution thread can complete faster than on another even with entirely identical environment. On some occasions this will cause a crash, on some it will not. In this case the C++ code is trying to de-reference pointer to invalid location, which is causing the process to get killed. Please ask another reliable person to try to replicate.
  14. After completing slow repair the state is unchanged. The last zip file is therefore still valid.

  17. I can confirm that setting 3 navpoints is enough to reproduced the issue reliably. TRK file can not be produced since the game crashes. It would be nice to keep this feature and not solve the problem by removing it.
  18. Just tracked dude from 15km with my eyes being wider than runway width. No VR. I did not follow the frenzy of the that last dot mode, was it more realistic than current spotting or not?
  19. My settings. E.g. I had DLSS enabled while you guys complained about dots, and was wondering why such a noise. IMHO: I am skeptical about the DOT thing, I would prefer this way less pronounced. Just go outside and observer high flying passenger plains flying across the sky. You will not se black dots/blocks there. In most cases you will know they are there, just because they contrail. Presently I think this is too pronounced and leads to off-bore shots all the time.

  22. Actually some 30 minutes ago I calibrated my own display (3440x1440). DCS never looked better. But likely dots are less visible.
  23. So, just to let you know. In windows you can calibrate your monitor get better picture adjusted. I just did it on my monitor and sadly it did not bring any more dots, except those that I artificially produced. Obviously ED can not adjust the render to be visible the same way on all devices...
