Yeah, the lights become brighter and bigger the more you zoom out and then they suddenly disappear! -
known issue External lights huge shimmering/halo effect
TimSell75 replied to TimSell75's topic in Bugs and Problems
Long is indeed long! I now saw reportings of this back 4 years ago and it never got fixed!??? I mean you can´t fly with another Hornet at night in VR in this state. It´s like a christmas tree chasing you close by (not that I don´t like christmas trees, but...) If I am not wrong the bloom effect is just turned around. It becomes brighter zooming out and fades away zooming in. Should be the other way around. Is this so hard to fix @NineLine ? -
VA does process the commands as far as I can see and I can hear the beep sound, but they are not being carried out on DCS side. Works for other commands as before though (like Plattform or established). Strange

I have problems with the Supercarrier Case III commands which I did not notice before. The commands "Commencing" and "Checking In" are not recognized anymore. Others like "Plattform" or "Established" are though. If I give the commands via the "Options" Menu, they are working, so it seems to be related to the voice commands. Any ideas how to fix this or a a workaround? Many thanks in advance!

known issue External lights huge shimmering/halo effect
TimSell75 posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Has anybody alse noticed that that the lights of the F-18 suddenly have a huge shimmering/halo effect? Nothing that I have seen on other modules. The lights are so strong, that they alomost entirely cover the whole plane of my wingman. null -
I have a probem, that with Quadviews, the spotting dots of other aircraft become extremely large when the are in the peripheral (low res area) field of view. So for a short moment when I turn my head I see these massive dots and immediately know where the enemy is. It might be an advantage, but also breaks immersion and seems unfair. Does anybody have the same problem or knows how to fix it? Thanks!

Is there any documentation out there that explains the various new fuzing options we got? It is great to have these but also a bit confuzing for someone who is not familiar with all these new options and which combinations are actually being used in real life...

Finished the campaign - My Conclusion
TimSell75 replied to TimSell75's topic in AV-8B Kerman Campaign
Yes, I tested very intensively. All missions from mission 5 onwards several times in both the single-thread and multi-thread version. Except for one attempt (out of approximately 30-40 attempts in total), my wingman did not respond to the commands and stubbornly stayed in formation. Unfortunately, I can't say what exactly was different about the one mission that worked. In all the attempts afterwards, I had the same problem again. -
This was my second Ground Pounder Sim Campaign. I had previously played Persian Freedom for the A-10. In my opinion, Persian Freedom is the best campaign available for the A-10 right now. So that's why I saved Kerman for last among my Harrier campaigns. And I was not disappointed! Ground Pounder finds the perfect sweet spot between "as realistic as possible" and "still manageable for someone without real combat pilot training." No other campaigns felt this "realistic." I've never been a combat pilot, so I probably can't judge it accurately. But I've listened to hundreds of hours of military podcasts and audiobooks, and no other campaign made the DCS experience feel as close to what you hear there. One reason is that in Ground Pounder campaigns, you are just a part of the conflict and not the center of it. I've played other campaigns where you fly out, destroy 20 tanks single-handedly, land, rearm, and then destroy another 20 tanks. You basically win the war on your own, which is great for those who love action but absolutely unrealistic. The best missions are those where nothing happens for an hour and then you drop one bomb on a target that you were detailed to by the JTAC. When you hear accounts from real combat pilots, this is more the reality, rather than returning from each mission as a superhero without weapons but with dozens of kills. Additionally, the immersion is top-notch: FOB Juliet is designed with a lot of attention to detail. You can still see the burned-out tanks left over from the previous battle. I even had the impression that things on Juliet changed over the missions. The briefings, the story, the voiceovers, the characters are top class, and I was always excited to see how the story around DET B continued, almost like a little novel. Criticisms: There are actually none. But one point that I've noticed in other campaigns as well: I try to play as realistically as possible, so I do a cold start according to NATOPS guidelines. Unfortunately, there's never enough time for that if you have to meet a TOT target. In the Harrier, it takes about 20-25 minutes, but usually, only 10 minutes are given. So, a request: Please allow a bit more time for the cold start! Something that was very unfortunate: I played the campaign at a time when DCS had changed or bugged the way wingmen respond to orders. This is absolutely not Ground Pounder's fault because I'm sure it worked flawlessly at the time of release. Especially in the second half of the campaign, you are almost reliant on the help of your wingman. Unfortunately, they currently do not respond to orders, leaving you on your own. This is particularly unfortunate because the one mission that worked as intended was pretty much the best thing I've experienced in DCS. I hope the bug gets fixed soon, then I will start the campaign again.

I tried this mission yesterday and as in the previous missions did not get my wingman to attack (single thread DCS version). So I assume there is currently a bigger bug in DCS and this is not in any way related to the campaign itself. It is a pitty though as the campaign is a true piece of art! And the one time I got Chief to work with me, DCS never felt so close to flying with an actual real wingman like in this mission. Hopefully ED will fix this soon and settles it´s issues with Razbam before the Harrier get´s unflyable with one of the upcoming DCS updates. Then I will definitely give the campaign another try!

I tried the mission 10x again today with the single thread version of the game. Out of these ten tries, Chief went on high cover once. The other nine he stayed in formation and I was not able to get him to attack. So my guess is, it is not related to the multi thread version but there is another bug involved. I was not able to figur out what I did differently in the one try where everything functioned as intended.
-
I just made a quick test again with the single core version, this time chief went to high cover as expected. Will test full mission tomorrow. Seems the problem with wingmans ignoring commands (had a similar problem in the Iron Flag campaign) is related to the Multi Core Version of the game.
-
I tried the mission 4x today. I was unable to get Chief to attack any targets, he just ignores the command and keeps on flying in formation(I guess he was suppoded to fly high cover anyway?) I tried it with commanding him right at the start of the assignment as well as after I had destroyed some targets myself. Unfortunately this is the same issue I had with mission 5, but there I was at least able to have him attack after a couple of tries for the mission. So I guess there is some bug related to DCS itself?
-
I tried the mission for a third time. This time he actually attacked. He used both of his LMAV and one APKWS and then started following me again. He still let me do most of the work though. But at least we managed to kill all BM27 this time
-
I had the same problem in both times I just tried the mission. He will just follow me and attack nothing. It is impossible to get all 8 launchers, the AAA, the tanks and the outposts alone. The BM27 at least need 2 APKWS each and you only have 14 in total.

Well, glad for me that you will not be an Admin anywhere then. P.S. wanting to ban somebody for simply posting his views in factual words and answering with an insult yourself is pretty much absurd.
-
I never said I agree with the OP. But calling somebody idiot and telling him to go away, just because you don’t like his opinion, does not belong here. What he is right about, is that the current system is kind of flawed. It lives from people buying new modules every few months. To be honest, I can be proficient in 1-2 modules at a time, after a pause of a year or so I need to relearn them. So EDs System can simply not survive by people who just want to focus on 1-2 modules and be really good at them, they don’t finance the development of the base system. So either they get people putting 10+ modules in their virtual hangar or attract more and more new people joining the party by releasing new modules that share some of the revenue for the development of the base system.
-
No need to, I speak multiple languages pretty fine. Nobody will go away just because you say so. Maybe apply for an admin job and try again.
-
So everybody who disagrees with you should shut up and go away? Dream on!

The fact that somebody may have a different opinion than you, does not justify insults! Bad manners!

Vertical Landing at FOB Juliet - too high?
TimSell75 replied to TimSell75's topic in AV-8B Kerman Campaign
Thanks for Testing! So at least I know I am not the problem here I am at mission 4 and it has again proven to be the pinnacle of DCS campaign making in my opinion! -
I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but landing vertically is almost impossible at FOB Juliet. I can do a rolling vertical landing but hovering, even with a slick jet and 1000 pounds of fuel and water injection, is not possible. I tried the same at sea level and had no similar problems. Could it be that Juliet is simply too high for vertical landings?
