  1. Yeah well they got a point. If you sprayed 30 bullets from a thompson into someones body they always died of leadpoisoning didnt they? if not figuratively instantly then literally a while later. I vote to make all weapon ordance biodegradable. :p and durable... and all factories should be driven by clean energy!!! /me is imagining a weapons plant with a nice windmill on top.
  2. After installing the beta 5.1 I had to deinstall the driver (offcourse.. windows.. *sigh*) I was pounding my head why the camera wasnt detected :p In game my profile didnt stick. Exiting the game it listed the black shark profile... so for some reason it linked my black shark profile to a-10. For now i've just set my a-10 trackir as exclusive. Same with logitech profiler for my G940... I have to set my profile to exclusive or it will load the default profile. With x86 there are no problems.
  3. About the X-65F the only thing I can say, without even trying it i must confess.... is that its force-SENSING. For modern fighter jets no problem even very realistic. But for me who likes to chopper and WWII sims this saitek stick is a no-go. My stick needs to move. That is the only gripe I would have with that stick. Actually I fell in love with that stick untill I read about the forcesensing. Then came the logitech G940 shortly afterwards and I went with that.
  4. @stretch thanks for the info. yeah i read something about that. I'm not a pilot myself alas... Wanted to be a fighter pilot but then i got glasses at age 12 :p last couple of years though I think prop planes are cool also so maybe I will get my private license someday. I learned to fly in lomac and il2 and THEN I learned the important basics in mfsx hehe. And when you ask for clearance you get the entire line which you stated is now starting to be required. For immersion that did alot for me. Supposedly now AI chatter is also present. I missed that in beta 4. Its nice to know if your wingmate is also taxiing. or that fighter jet is somewhere about to take off or inbound. Not to mention the traffic pattern. But well maybe in the military world it all works differently don't know. But my hopes are that it will become as realist as possible :)
  5. If so be sure to buy the pro. I was not at all happy with my old saitek X52. Spring strength made it impossible to make tiny adjustments around center. both joystick and throttle are always good ideas. But everyone has their own brand they like best. I for instance am quite quite happy with my logitech g940. Forcefeedback HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) plus pedals. Its a bit more expensive though. But the cheapest pedals you can buy are about 80 to 100 euro's also. The Logitech goes for about 260 euro's easily. Then there is the TM Warthog if you got the money. The cool part is that its modeled.. you guessed it like the real stick in the a-10. I'm not too familiair with cougar and such but most people like those sticks alot also :p If I were you I'd be looking on the internet for these brands and compare reviews.
  6. @stretch yeah ok you got a point. I don't know how military strips operate but what if its a bit larger very busy strip and ATC is letting a few crates taxi simultanously. They could give different routes though right so they won't collide? Then you have to know which safe route to take. Or am I way off course here?
  7. Exactly. That takes only 1 maverick instead of 2.
  8. It would be cool though if atc would give more directions especially on a busy strip :) Cleared for taxi to Runway 14, taxi via Echo, Delta, Bravo, cross Runway 17, hold short of Runway 18. @sgtbaker: The same way you normally get hold of ATC. set your radio to ATC freq and mic-hatforward. Although in my experience if you do a mission with runway start you are automatically cleared for takeoff. So there is no need to contact ATC in fact, they didnt even respond to me in beta 4. or the only option you had while your engines were running were: Permission for engine start.
  9. Awsome... :) our next house will have access to optic fibre as well. I wonder what the subscription will cost me to get 24MB hehe. For now I will have to make due with my 30mb broadband. Not to bad but in theory I should be able to get 3.7mB/s with a 30 megabit connection. although with the torrents it last night I got between 80 kB and 1.7 MB max. on average around 500 kB/s. Reading on the rest of the pages man... some of you guys are dealing with some slow speeds :/ hopefully it will work out for you!! with speeds of 500kb/s on average I would go postal... Could be though that most of you actually mean kilobytes but write kilobits though. anyway I'm seeding as well. and as I write this I see we got 527 seeders right now :) So hopefully you will all be able to play this "game" pretty soon :)
  10. Hey maxmax. Weird. If i'm ingame and I press f10 and click on the airport (there is a small icon i think on the main runway) I get the relevant information. Ah you are starting on vaziani. Yes in that mission, with the terrible overclouds and tons of russian tanks on the field, the JTAC to my knowledge is broken. Just go kill a few tanks without the help of JTAC. I can't play it though because due to the many units and dense cloud cover is hell to my frames. You should assume 131 means 131.000 :) edit: and I shouldve read the second page of this thread since most questions are already answered :p I'm a noob btw but i'm glad to be of help :)
  11. bah.. I just did the mission defend the village... had a furious amount of kills and was diving in again to take out some bmp's. Mybe my speed was to high and levelling out to hard or the buggers really did land a nice shot which tore away half my right wing. Anyway... Trimming and staring at my wing on fire I was lining up for landing. Was hard to get the trim properly but all went good and with landing gear out and even flaps I thought. Yeah I'm gonna do this!!! Then something came to mind.. I had bombs still hanging under my wings. I pressed the external jettison thingy... Bam Chrash! Not the plane but the game :p ACK! hehe
  12. Press f10 zoom in on map and click on the airport where you are or are planning to go to. There is the frequency for your perusal. Also for ATC use the VHF AM the top radio that is. Edit: actually the easiest way to know which radio to use is to look at the frequency. Top VHF AM is used for 3 digits in the hundreds. for instance 123.000 middle UHF is used for wingmen and flight which are frequencies in the two hundreds. for instance 251.000 Bottom VHF FM is used for below hundred. For instance 32.000 I don't know the exact range of all three radio's but above is a fairly good reference. edit2: also if your cdu is running. you are for instance in the air and you want to land on an airport: use the right mfcd to open the cdu page. then press 'func' followed by 2 on the keypad just under your hud. This will change the CDU page on the right MFCD to a different page. on the right MFCD CDU page click on DIVERT. Then select the airport you want to go to. This will do a couple of things. First off it will list the correct freq to use to contact ATC and second it will make this airport your current steerpoint. Maybe something else will happen also but don't know :p If the airfield has ILS it will show this freq also.
  13. You can't use FM for JTAC if the freq is supposed to be 131.000 FM only goes to about 90.000 iirc. So use VHF AM for this freq. Also check in mission editor what freq JTAC is set to. Sometimes this isnt correctly stated in mission briefing. Also in the campaign mission 1 (don't recall campaign name) where you have like tons of russian tanks to go against, JTAC is supposedly broken in Beta 4 (in this mission). Also check your mic hat is correctly set up. When I bound my hat to the 3 different mic states for some reason my mic hat forward was actually VHF FM instead of VHF AM
  14. Weird.. i tried tried and tried. I had this same problem with black shark... 2 displays. left secondary for mfcds and right Main screen. Tried negative coordinates, tried the left monitor starting with xy 0,0 but nothing on left screen shows up. A few others in this thread have the same problem. So now each time I play I go to control panel resolution and drag my left screen over to the right whereas my main screen starts with xy 0,0 Works sort of. Only from time to time i can't find my mouse :p
  15. I thought I read somewhere that the early a-10 models flew inverted to get a lock/fix on their ground target. Then reverted back to normal flight and then dropped their bombs fired missiles etc. Anyway. The hurricanes were even worse. WITHOUT flying inverted the engines of these crates sputtered when pulling negative g's in a dive.
  16. aah i'm lucky then. I got one of the first (showmodel for decreased pricing) but no spikes on the r1 and r2 wheels. Raptor have you set it up properly? I have nearly no sloppy center. using latest firmware is a must though. Actually when first firmware came out I hated the new strong center... Also because in that firmware the centering spring couldnt be set to disable... overall effect to 50 percent and spring effect to 100 percent and dampening 0 percent and centering spring disabled does it for me. the force for stickhandling isnt to great but have nearly no sloppy center. Find some of my posts for more information if you want.
  17. Whats the problem with it being from July 2009? As far as I know the hardware has stayed the same all this time. Its only the firmware that has been tweaked. Or am I missing out on some info about revisioning?
  18. With all the speculation going on about what next american fixed wing plane is being planned... I look at the big picture :) With all the computer development going on and most of the world getting broad band internet someday... ED is paving a nice way for its DCS "world". Next thing you know there will be DCS tank simulators and DCS FPS ala Armed Assault 2. In a couple of years I think it will be feasible to just buy your tank or FPS simulator and plug into the wonderfull world of DCS. That would be awsome :) Don't know if you guys ever played WWII online but imagine something like that with the fidelity of this... Mindblowing :)
  19. I've just been playing this mission and i coulnt find nav banks either. I'm not up to speed with the cdu yet.. but it could refer to BULLSEYE because whenever I ingress from this point jtac wants me to continue. If I ingress from another direction its auto: ABORT ABORT ABORT! in this mission however and I don't know if its just this mission.. But once a ABORT ABORT ABORT is called I end up in a loop with JTAC. namely I ask for assignment and JTAC give me the 9-line after which I can only ask again for asignment.. repeat repeat repeat. Also If I check out and check in and I have no mavericks D left I still report in with me having mavericks D. Then JTAC always asks me to attack with mavericks D which I don't have. On my mavericks banks it says 88 on both of them. But do i need to flush them or delete them so I won't report having them while I don't? or maybe the game doesnt keep score what weapons I have used.
  20. I havent had experience with voice recognition programs but what I CAN tell you is that after getting the G930 my friends on teamspeak all say WoW we can hear you crystal clear what mic are you using? In my experience this is the best mike I have ever owned. Hope that helps. (btw.. you can also talk in squirrel.. Giant and alien and whatnot :p)
  21. G940 logitech here also. Only problems I have with it is that the ministick doesnt behave well in both DCS titles. It keeps getting stuck offcenter software wise when physically released to center. Using huge 70 percent deadzone with keypresses for the trim function it now works fine. Also I have removed the big ass spring from my pedals. Now it won't return to center which i hated. only downside is that you can't get rid of the hardware deadzone. But slight foot manipulation is so much better without the spring. With latest firmware and good settings I only have a very very tiny sloppy center. Keep x axis in logitech software deadzone at 10 percent and y axis at 5 percent and you can fly hands off (deadmanswitch taped off) when using the trim system properly. also you won't notice the deadzones. slight forward input translates to slight pitch down etc. sensitivity on both axis are at 50 percent and range at 100 percent. Also the FFB options per game you need to tweak. What works for me quite well is: overal effects strength 50 percent, spring effect 100 percent, dampening 0 percent and disable centering spring. edit: What makes the G940 rock imo is that its HOTAS plus pedals and FFB for a "reasonable" price. I will never go back to spring sticks like the saitek x52. That was a nightmare in games like IL2 when you got that jerry almost in your crosshairs and you need to make a TINY adjustments to shoot a bead across its canopy. You want to move the stick 2 mm to the left to get it JUST right. You feel the force from the spring so you press JUST a little bit harder and it shoots 1 cm over target :/ ps I only have experience with the regular saitek x52 so I wouldnt know how the pro version feels. Just thought i'd mention it because I read a few posts above me that the pro has improved centering. Also I have had the logitech G940 for 2 years now and have no spikes whatsoever. Just the ministick which acts funny but only in DCS games. Other games it behaves correctly. But as we all well know: that doesn't mean a thing. You could end up with a faulty product. Likewise I read many posts that the saitek quadrant spikes after not too long. I also have the saitek quadrant and it works perfectly. I might not use it as much as others or i'm just lucky who knows :)
  22. Man thanks so much for that battery pack idea! I too have the g930 but I don't use it whilest Flying. I have dedicated my old creative fatality headset with the trackir pro clip for flying. I mean... Why use a wireless headset with a wired trackir right? Never thought about a battery. Never even thought about it would only need juice lol... I think. it has usb. so it MUST connect to pc :p
  23. I have bound the zoom function to 1 of my hotas dials on the G940. also I have removed the absolute Y-axis from the trackir bindings. (at least i think its the y-axis. its the axis that controls the up and down not pitch but when you stand up or try to crouch down) I have that bound on my other hotas dial so I can zoom in on the engine dials for instance and with the other dial I can dive in the cockpit to the level of the engine dials so to speak. Actually it works the same as lowering your seat with the button on the left. only now its on an axis control. This works great to swiftly zoom in on the hud and then lower or up your vision with the other dial to center the hud perfectly.
  24. The release date of late february is real also? I thought the next beta would not be a RC. edit: I just realised that beta 5 was skipped... So beta 6 then could be a RC. Fingers crossed.
