  1. I'm with StrongHarm. There is another option though: Fly the Huey Campaign. It really increased my helo skills significantly. If you don't have the Huey module then turning off all AP channels is a good substitute. We need to remember that all KA-50 and KA-52 pilots have their Helo proficiency long before they have even set foot in this particular attack chopper. The KA-50 is NOT a normal chopper. Its a VERY EASY (this is a good thing because you need to do the shooting as well) helo to fly with the AP channels and its power source. If you want to know how a "normal" helo flies like then the HUEY is a very good place to start in the virtual world. Coming from the KA-50 I had a lot of difficulty "mastering" the Huey but boy did it made me a better pilot. When I started flying the KA-50 the way it was meant to fly, I apparantly completely skipped the basics of helo flight which comes from experience of flying "normal" Helo's. I didn't notice any ground in effect because the engine is so powerful. I didnt understand though why i was hopping up and down when trying to land. even with auto hover and the AP channels it took me quite some time to get in a stable hover with the KA-50. revisiting after flying the Huey it was childsplay. Due to the AP channels the power source and the forgiving nature of the KA-50 I was apparently very rough with my flying. Now i CAN be rough when I have to but understanding principles of helo flight a bit better I actually have to do less to get the same or better effect. Instead of overcompensating all the time. But if we are just talking about turning then I too simply press the trimmer on my FFB G940 stick.
  2. Ok if i understand you correctly, you made a SWITCH. so you added a button in the RIGHT column of the modifier screen. What you need to do now is go to each function you want to use in this switch mode and double click it. then to the right it says modifier. select it and choose the button you made to be switch. Then click in the left bar to enter the throttle or joystick button you want to use when switched to this mode. (offcourse make sure you double clicked in the correct collumn. IE warthog joystick or throttle or gamepad or whatever. The panel would look something like: Action: IFF antenne switch upper Key/button ............................ Modifier Button_4 ................................Button_8 Added modifiers Button_8 Currently in use Blank hopefully :) In my experience however I don't use switches. Just Modifiers. as in the LEFT collumn of the modifier panel. That way I ALWAYS know what i'm doing. button 4 on throttle is autopilot. Unless I press the latch modifier AND button 4. then its brew coffee or somesuch. With SWITCHES you need be aware in what mode you are in. ON or OFF. this could cause some confusion in the heat of battle. but maybe it will work for you they way you want to :)
  3. A dedicated rudder pedal will bring even more control if you haven't got one already. I had the saitek rudder, G940 logitech rudder and now am using the MFG crosswind. Boy for that last one you need some serious dough but its freaking awsome!
  4. Hi there, sounds great! What time are you thinking about though? is it viable for europeans to sign up?
  5. If the stick only moves up and down at cold start and not to the left and right: This is NORMAL! airelons are controlled by hydraulics. If the craft is fully running with generators etc then the stick will be able to travel to left and right in game. If you still have joystick problems: go to profile page and tune axis. Check to see if the joystick moves the full range. same with throttle. if all works in tuning page then all is well and you just need to start the plane in the correct manner. ie. have throttle in idle off and when apu at 100 percent and apu generator on lift throttle left from off position to idle. Don't lift both throttles at the same time. Wait till left engine spools up completely. so unlock your throttle. when both left and right engine generators are fully generating power, your stick should act correctly.
  6. Don't use target software. Just go inside DCS options and keybinding. Then select the profile of the plane you want to fly. For instance A-10C realistic. Then select modifier. Here you can assign a button to act as modifier or switch. You could set the big latch button (or any other button for that matter) on the warthog joystick as modifier: just add it in the left collumn. Call it Latch or whatever. Your warthog stick is configured for most buttons in the a10-c already so if you now want to bind different keys to already existing button binds do this: Coolie hat up is already set up for setting hud to SOI. But if you want to put wheelbrake on that button as well, go to wheelbrake and doubleclick it in the throttle collumn. Now Hold the latch button on the stick. It will say "Latch" + ... then press coolie hat up without letting go of the latch button. It will then say: latch + Coolie hat up. Now if you press coolie hat up in game you will set hud as SOI. But if you hold latch and then press coolie hat up, your wheelbrake will be activated. You could have also set the latch as "switch" in the right collumn of the modifier page. This acts as a mode button. meaning if pressed once it stays on untill you press it again. But i find it confusing because i never know in what mode i am . latch on or latch off. basically if you use a modifier or switch button you double up on the amount of keybinds you can have on your hotas. If you set up 2 modifier switches you have three times the binds etc. Hope this helps. If you still find this confusing then let me know. I'll try to explain it in a different manner.
  7. I don't see the dogfight. I see a Suicidal Ivan acting as target practice. Maybe he didnt think you could close in on him. or maybe he wanted you to shoot him down because returning home to his cheating wife sounded worse.
  8. There is no autopilot in the huey. If you want to aircraft to fly itsself you need to activate some autopilot cheats. I believe you can find them in the options page. Maybe under miscelanous.
  9. nah... 4k Oculus rift yes. But not the first consumer rift. I think the resolution will be too low as of yet for competitive "game" play in these high fidelity crates.
  10. My G940 stick has a missing range at the x axis to the right. About 1,5 cm to the extreme right there is no raw data detected. I haven't found a way to calibrate the G940 stick. Anyone have any ideas for this? The link to the tweak to delete the calibration from the register is not working. But I think because its raw data not detected that this won't help anyway. I need to find a way to hardware calibrate my stick.
  11. Hi there this looks interesting. Do you have pictures from your build? So i can visualize what this will look like in modded form?
  12. does pressing f1 resolve anything? If you are in map mode f10 usually pressing f1 brings you back to cockpit. Also try campaign or training missions etc. To see if they work.
  13. Sorry to say bud... You can't activate your module on the steam version of dcs world if you bought via ED. You can activate your steam serial on the NON STEAM version of dcs world though. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113587
  14. No clue. But open a support ticket.
  15. Your steam a-10c module should work on your STEAM DCS world. If you want to use the NON steam DCS world then you should go to dcs.com login, go to your profile in upper right. Then select check license bottom left corner and type in the Serial from the steam a-10c. Type it in again in the new screen and check it. THEN BIND the key to your login. You took ownership of this serial now. It will work on steam and on the non steam version now. Now start up non steam DCS world and wait 20 seconds A popup will appear with saying: You can now install a-10C. Edit: You should ofcourse check in steam what the serial of the module is.
  16. This manuever if i'm not mistaken is called the hammerhead. It is a realistic manuever and against a clueless chaser can wreak havoc. The idea indeed is to have the chaser stall so you can shoot it in the following dive. I believe you should go vertical and near stall speed hit full rudder deflection. depending on the way the propellor rotates. If its rotating clockwise hit full right rudder. If its rotating anti clockwise hit full left rudder.
  17. +5 I too would like to see this implemented. With a pinky button modifier you could have all radio control under the Mic switch on the warthog hotas. Selecting first am, fm or uhf to open radio menu. Then pinky switch + Mic switch forward (am) to select next item. Pinky switch + down (uhf) to select the item. And offcourse pinky switch + backward (fm) to select previous item. I hate using the Function keys.... I think there was a clickable radio mod somewhere as well but in the heat of the moment chasing a menu is not something I find easy.
  18. Ah i thought this was about keybindings in game. I don't know squat about the target software. So can't help you there.
  19. Google silently downloaded DCS WORLD II on your computer? Damn. No didnt happen to me but i'm praying it will!
  20. Do you mean modifiers and switches? Modifier being button 7 + button 1 is something different than just button 1? Or switches? Which acts like a mode button? Go to options -> controls -> select specific aircraft profile in top left corner -> Click modifers in bottom left corner -> remove unwanted modifier (left column) or switch (right column).
  21. I'm on the fence now. My G940 logitech throttle is starting to malfunction again. I already replaced my pedals with the MFG Crosswind but now am looking for a replacement Throttle. Really thinking i'm gonna buy the warthog HOTAS. in my country they don't sell the throttle seperately. In UK the throttle by itself is 200 pounds which is about 280 euro's. But I can buy the thottle and stick for 300 euro's here in Holland. So for 20 euros more I have a high quality spare stick for the dreadful day which I hope will never come because i can't fly without my FFB :)
  22. No problem mate, glad you got it sorted :)
  23. Either im blind or in the campaign kutaisi adf is sometimes in briefing as 447 and sometimes 477. 477 is the correct one. Now i just open up my knee pad and look up the adf for kutaisi. I then compare the morse code to see if i'm tuned right.
  24. It is normal that the airelons don't work pre start up (roll). You need engine power and hydraulics. Elevator (pitch)don't use hydraulics. As for the unlocking of the throttle... make sure your throttle is all the way back to idle on your desk! Then use right alt - home and right ctrl-home to unlock the throttles. Just to be sure, press escape, adjust controls, axis asign, highlight the throttle bind and press axis tune. Move the throttle axis and see if it moves the full range in the curve. Do the same with the roll if you like. If these function correctly then they will in game when all parameters are met. hydraulics for aileron control and throttle unlocked. Which can only be done if the throttle is at 0 percent all the way back. edit: i just noticed you dont use a throttle quadrant. I dont know much about using the throttle with keyboard. But check if some other axis is bound to throttle and delete that. any unused axis on your joystick, pedals, rumblepad can prevent the throttle from funtioning. So check all devices and wipe the throttle axis.
