  1. To reuse maps for other scenarios it would be helpful if mission creators can rename towns and airports on the map, and possibly also affecting the ATC menu. This would open more possibilities for new theaters which are not covered by DCS maps. Caucasus could be moved to Italy, Nevada to China etc. It would be up to the mission creator to fit the scenario to the storyline.

  2. edit: I've re-built a new mission editor with select & drag
  3. yes for me it showed an update on the dev tools in M$ store
  4. OpenXR dev tools were updated, get it from the Micro$oft store
  5. Also try changing the IPD settign in DCS > VR and see if that promotes the same effect
  6. Theres certainly a factor of "getting used to", it also happens to pilots or skyscraper construction workers. Maybe play in 2D for some weeks and you will have renewed wow effect Yeah well in the end they all do the same thing, thats what i understand at least. There is no magic depth that can be extrapolatet with current gen headsets.
  7. Technically what you describe is ICS, aka the virtual camera distance. Only your headset can adjust your IPD lens setting.
  8. The IPD setting in DCS is incorrectly labeled. "Racking convergence can have some very unexpected effects on the viewer’s perception of the image, since the object can appear to get larger or smaller relative to its original perceived size due to the amount of stereo effect changing." which is what the IPD adjustment in DCS is causing, the cockpit feels too small or large if set incorrectly. Exactly, in VR we dont have focal depth as our headsets have a single focus lens. Which is why presently the only way to give a depth illusion is through convergence. Next gen headsets are going to change that though, here is an interesting overview. These are 2D tricks that a monitor or TV is already doing. Its what every game engine essentialy does with rendering a pseudo 3D scene on a 2D monitor. Binocular disparity and motion parallax are already exploitet by current gen headsets. While the "convergence & acommodation conflict" is the difference of the distance our eyes converge vs where the distance they focus. Thats the focal distance that current gen headsets can not emulate. So theres nothing left to tweak other than the binocular disparity or however you want to call it. Its what the DCS IPD adjustment is doing.
  9. I've changed the most promising values RHWLessAtScreen and StereoConvergence to extremes from 0.1 to 6, changed through several presets of extremely different games. It makes no difference at all in DCS. RHWLessAtScreen seems to have no effect. StereoConvergence should be the equivalent to the DCS > options > VR > IPD adjustment. But it seems to have 0 effect on DCS. Which is quite common that Nvidia control panel settings are completely ignored by DCS. StereoConvergence also may have no effect because i override the IPD inside DCS via "force ipd". So that the default IPD is not used. Which may be changed by this mod, so some people may see an effect. But then again its easier to adjust IPD in game rather than through control panel settings. Will play with the other settings tomorrow, but from what they do according to docs, they would only change the close 3D vision to resovle UI clipping issues.
  10. youre on a G2 or quest 2?
  11. For me this only improves the cockpit 3D effect, not the terrain. But its very subtle. Probably due to StereoCutoff being set to 0x000000 (off) This page has a good overview of all settings in case you want to play around http://wiki.bo3b.net/index.php?title=Driver_Profile_Settings#StereoCutoff_.280x709a1ddf_.2F_0x704fcf5c_.2F_0x7053569a.29
  12. I wasnt really a fan of the Nevada map. But this campaign brings out the best of it. I also really enjoy the transition to gate 4, thinking about my mistakes from the last mission and how to approach it differently. And the opportunity to practice some formation flying which I havent done so far. I play in VR, low/medium settings but still some beautiful moments
  13. I went max speed towards the F-16s, then quickly fired head-on Sidewinders on each F-16, as they are fire and forget. Defended their missiles, then dealt with the F5s and then with the remaining F-16.
  14. I've made interactive checklists with Jester voice samples from heatblur and the zone5 campaign. I cant release those yet, Im waiting for permission from RS and HB.
  15. So i played with the DCS IPD setting for the first time. Setting this to 50 makes the cockpit huge, 80 very small like a model aircraft. Pretty funny. But when I set it to my measured IPD, the cockpit size change only a little. But its actually much better at altitude. I got such a sense of height I was hesitating to do a barrel roll. Interesting.
  16. Apparently its the same thing though, see here for a more detailed discussion. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/bug-feature-cockpit-size-and-world-scale-in-vr/338584 At least with current headsets there is no real focal depth, there is only an offset between your left and right eye, which your brain interprets as distance. SteamVR WorldScale doesnt play well with DCS, but theres the DCS > options > VR > IPD setting for that.
  17. I updated to 2.7.11 stable and performance got worse. But it could be that the game is still recompiling some shaders on the fly. I always have bad performance the first time in a map after clearing shader cache or updating.
  18. There is also the world scale setting in steamVR and the IPD setting in DCS. Not sure if those do the same thing. It would certainly be interesting to increase 3D perception. But it also would make the cockpit look larger right ?
  19. @Barthekwould it be possible to revive a South East Asia texture pack for Caucasus, similar to what Starway had done back in the day ? Or is this no longer possible with 2.7 ? From what I see there are only diffuse and normal map textures. No geometry changes required for trees, is this correct?
  20. I also went back to 1.0.4 as my current campaign gave me bad performance. I was wondering its the campaigns fault. But with 1.0.4 the performance is at least 50% better than with 1.0.5. I also changed the clouds from ultra back to normal but according to legend this does not make a performance difference in VR EDIT: Oh apparently VR cloud quality settings DO affect performance quite heavily. Someone here said they dont... Need to do more testing.
  21. Did you compare performance of your Custom FFR setting vs Preset ? I found that using Custom always gives me WORSE performance than the Preset, regardless of the settings. I thought its a bug.
  22. Ive created a kneeboard reference page from the youtube lesson
  23. Ohhh I get it Anyhow i found this one which is quite good
  24. ups, just saw there is a bugs forum
