Hi all, Not sure if this is the right sub-forum but it's as close as I can find. What will happen if I move a switch in the cockpit (let's say landing gear up) with the physical switch on something like a TM Viper Mission Pack in the down position? I know the physical switches will move the in-game equivalent, but what happens the other way around? And when you spawn, will the swithches in the cockpit move to match the settings on your control panels? I'm contemplating the TM Viper QCS Mission Pack. I currently have a Voice Attack profile that allows me to say 'Set up cockpit' and it sets my ECM, Master and Laser Arm etc to how I like them. If I leave Master and Laser arm set to armed on the panel will the cockpit switches mirror this? Cheers, Dr Spankle

Every JTAC I've ever worked with passed MGRS Grid, Square and coords every time. I've asked for this to be changed so hopefully we'll see something soon. Until then, in the F10 map you can left click on the coords and they will change format. Once you have MGRS just note the Grid you're in. Regards, Dr Spankle

Yeah - good point. Thanks. Dr Spankle

Hi all, I've never worked with a JTAC who didn't provide MGRS Grid, Square, and Coords for every position, be that friendly, enemy, or the boundary of an area to search. They always pass the Grid, the Square, and then generally will inform you of how many characters they are about to pass by saying 'Eight to Follow' or 'Six to Follow' depending on the accuracy of the position they have for you, before passing the coords. This removed confusion as to whether the transmission had been clipped after only receiving so many numbers. Can we change that? Also, I've never heard one use the phonetic phrase 'N/A' for Lines 1,2 & 3. Rather they would state the full phrase 'Not Applicable' if that were the case. Lots of people seem confused as to where to find the Grid, so this would help them, and it would also add realism. Cheers, Dr Spankle

Hi everyone, How long are we likely to wait for the features released in Open Beta to reach the stable release? I appreciate that depends on a lot of things but is there a ball park figure? I'm looking forward to the coordinates grab feature (L Alt and L Mouse Click?) on the F10 map so we can type them in easier in VR. Cheers, Dr Spankle

One of the annoying features (I find) when using the IR Mav in Multiplayer is waiting for them to time out after you R/R. You wait for a few minutes while you take fuel, and then you're re-armed, and then you have to wait 3 more minutes for the missiles to time out. One way to reduce the overall time spent is to Rearm and then refuel in that order. To do this don't move the fuel slider when you first request R/R. Thus you are only rearmed and the missiles begin their timeout. Then immediately request R/R again but this time set the fuel slider to maximum. Now the refuelling commences but crucially, during this time, your Mavs are still timing out. Be ready to pull away once the refuelling is complete or a whole new rearming will begin, which will reset the timeout for the missiles. You'll get the 'Hey, what are you doing?' from the crew chief, but I wouldn't worry, he's not real ... The whole process takes approximately the same time overall but, by rearming before refuelling, your mavs are ready to go when you are. Regards, Dr Spankle

cannot reproduce and missing track file Reloaded Mavericks Not Firing
drspankle replied to drspankle's topic in Bugs and Problems
I've been powering off the Mavs subsequently before R&R back on the grd, then powering them up again once the R&R is complete. So far they're working just fine, so maybe this is a workaround. -
That's twice now in two days that my reloaded Mavs won't fire in MP. I fired 2 and dropped 1 GBU 12 to finish taking Sukhumi, then reloaded to attack the SA11 site further south. Just like last time the Mav locked up ok but just won't come off the rails. I turned cold and headed out to sea to check all switches, and everything was good. I've also had this with reloaded HARMs (as have others on this forum) so I suspect there's a bug introduced somewhere in the re-arming process. Obviously with a mission that warranted refuelling the file to upload is going to be massive (and I don't know how to do it ...), so can anyone give me a steer on how best to provide the files I need to upload please? Cheers, Dr Spankle

I've bound the selections to L Alt + LCtrl + L Shift + A,S,D,F etc and am using Voice Attack. They all work perfectly excepy Alt Hold!
-
Yup - that's the one. Really well done.
-
I can make keybinds to select Strg Select, Hdg Select, Att Hold, and Autopilot Off, but I can't get the Alt Hold to work. There are no key conflicts showing, and I've got the correct switch selection, but for some reason that particular one just won't work. Am I being a biff or is this a bug?

Sorry! The one for the Viper - really good. Dr Spankle

I don't know who made the Red Flag Campaign but it's spot on. I have flown 4 Red Flags and this is very true to how it is - they even nailed the briefing slides. Add to that the realism of 'Showground' telling you you're dead, and warning you to 'check north for the Container' (Area 51/Groom Lake) and you have a very realistic representation of certainly how it was back in my day (not that long ago ...). So well done whomever it was, now please can you do Kosovo, Afghan and Iraq? Dr Spankle

Hi all, I recently installed SRS and I think I got it working ok. I could see I was transmitting and was using the correct freqs etc but there was no-one else on there. On a server that had 36 people playing, SRS showed 3 people connected and no-one answered! Does anyone use this anymore? I noticed that DCS recently introduced an organic VOIP system and have set this up now. Is anyone using it and, if so, what tips and tricks, if any, would you suggest? Lastly, is it worth bothering with Discord now that DCS has an integral VOIP capability? Cheers, Dr Spankle

Exactly what happens to me. Do you know how to provide the track replay for Bignewy? I haven't a clue ...
-
Hi all, As usual I might be wrong so please be gentle with a computer numpty. I use a Reverb G2 headset and, to get it to work, I had to download some files and copy them into a folder somewhere in DCS. It was all terribly complicated to a dullard like me but it all works wonderfully now without the need for Steam VR (whatever that is). There was a warning that each incremental update of DCS will probably require this process to be repeated as those files will be overwritten or something. Could the next update of DCS have these files installed already, and therefore support WMR and OpenVR without the need to do anything more? Cheers, Dr Spankle

I've just requested the same thing as I use VR, which makes it even more of a pain. Apparently the creation of user steerpoints in the F10 map in MP is on its way, so that should help. Dr Spankle

Or none of them ...
-
Great stuff - thanks. Is there a rough timeframe? Thanks for your reply. Yeah I understand all of that, I just can't be arsed waiting whilst hordes of A-10s monster the remaining targets! Cheers, Dr Spankle

Would it be possible to either create a waypoint in MP that only applies to your aircraft, or to somehow copy the coords of something from the map to a kneeboard or similar? At the minute I have to write them down, then type them in to the UFC on the Viper, which is a pain in VR. I know it's not the greatest hurdle for me to overcome, but it's just one of those things that would make the best game even better. Cheers, Dr Spankle
-
Yes to both. Tried it again today and got the same problem. Sorry to be an ass-pain, but how do I do that? Cheers, Dr Spankle

Is there a way we could see the overrall F10 map before we have to select what airbase we fly from in Multiplayer? It's a pain when you end up 150 miles back from the FEBA. It would also help you chose loadouts if you could see the remaining threats. On a related note to the Campaign builders and MP Server hosts - thank you for what you do, but can we have some interdiction-style targets (Bridges, Ports, HQ buildings etc) and maybe some enemy airfields with aircraft on the ramp? Cheers, Dr Spankle
-
Hi all - thanks for your replies. I have tried switching stuff off and back on again and cycling through the override modes and then back into A-G, and all manner of other things but it always happens with a reload. It's clearly a bug because I have changed nothing from the first sortie (where they fire succsesfully) to the second, where the selection of the threat on the HAD doesn't hand the target to the missile and the designated SAM stays as a white box. Frustratingly, there's no way of knowing this until you're airborne and well into the threat rings. Any ideas ...?

Would it be possible to create Steerpoints using the F10 map in Multiplayer? Also, can we not remove the need to align Mavericks to the T Pod on the Viper? I know it's ultra-realistic but in a campaign it just takes so much time. Cheers, Dr Spankle

When I land and reload, my HARMS will never fire. The initial load always work ok, it's once I've reloaded that I get this bug. Regards, Dr Spankle
