  1. I should have clarified - Pig is the term for a glide weapon (JSOW etc). For any normal gravity dropped weapon, dumb or guiged, the phrase is 'One Away' (if you dropped a single). Dr Spankle
  2. The accepted NATO term is 'One Away' for a dropped, gravity weapon, and 'Rifle' for a Maverick/Brimstone/Hellfire. There is no codeword 'Shack' for target destroyed while we're at it. 'Splash' is the only listed codeword for a succesful kill, to be used for either air or ground. Dr Spankle
  3. If you manoeuvre hard in the Viper the AP will disconnect, and you will see the switch move in the virtual cockpit. How does that resulting conflict in switch positions on the TQS (still physically set to on) affect the game? On a similar note, if I move a virtual cockpit switch using Voice Attack, will it still move if that switch is bound to its reprentative physical control on the TQS? Or does the TQS switch position overide everything? Questions, questions ... Dr Spankle
  4. Sorted thanks ChillNG - it was the Easy Radio check box. That and the fact I had the Space Bar bound to centre VR view! Dr Spankle
  5. I can't get permission to start in mission 1. I turn the battery on and request start but get no response. Dr Spankle
  6. I've reported this too - were you in a multiplayer server? It just worked for me in a campaign but not multiplayer. Dr Spankle
  7. I just tried it on a campaign and all is good, including the manual gain control on the TGP that I reported elsewhere. When I go on a multiplayer server though I get the same issues. Let me research how to create a track to replay and I'll do my best. Dr Spankle
  8. Even though I have a Sidewinder on the rail Dogfight mode doesn't automatically select it. It used to, and I'm pretty sure it's supposed to. Cheers, Dr Spankle
  9. Since 2.9 the Manual Gain Control Up/Dwn OSBs don't change anything. As far as I can see all the other OSBs are good. Cheers, Dr Spankle
  10. Is it possible to just change the aircraft type in one of the existing campaigns for the F18? Dr Spankle
  11. Thanks guys - as usual the forum dwellers here on DCS are a great help. Back in the day, in order to not have to use Steam VR there was a work around to force DCS to use Open XR - this is what I still do. It would seem I don't have to do this. So, from my reading and investigating it would seem I just have to add an extension (--force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR start )onto the exe to force it to open in VR (as long as my G2 is powered up) ... Am I getting warm? I don't have to open WMR? Thanks, Dr Spankle
  12. I think it was something to do with Opencomposite (and I don't know what that actually is ...). All I know is that, when I bought my G2, someone on YT told me I needed three files to drop into the .bin folder to make DCS run in VR. Do I not need to do that any more?
  13. Awesom thanks. Just need to sell a kidney and we're away ...
  14. Excellent thank you Motomouse! So there's no need to start dropping files into DCS folders or anything like that - I just install the Varjo software once and that's it? Sounds awesome. Am I right in saying the headset tracks the position of your eyes in order to increase the resolution of the are being looked at? Thanks, Dr Spankle
  15. Hi all, At the minute, to run DCS in my G2 I open WMR, then start DCS. After each update to DCS I need to copy and paste 3 files into the .bin folder which make DCS run in VR (I think). If I buy the Varjo Aero, what do I need to do in order to make DCS run in VR. Be gentle with me ... Dr Spankle
  16. Correct thermal signature for enemy vehicles. As it is, the airport ground support equipment show up as hot, (even though some of it, like the PAR antenna wouldn't) and enemy veheicles and SAMs, parked in amongst it all, who running their power units are considerably harder to see. Anything nunning a generator or engine shows up really well in IR on the pod.
  17. Thanks MAXsenna! Dr S
  18. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right sub-forum but it's as close as I can find. What will happen if I move a switch in the cockpit (let's say landing gear up) with the physical switch on something like a TM Viper Mission Pack in the down position? I know the physical switches will move the in-game equivalent, but what happens the other way around? And when you spawn, will the swithches in the cockpit move to match the settings on your control panels? I'm contemplating the TM Viper QCS Mission Pack. I currently have a Voice Attack profile that allows me to say 'Set up cockpit' and it sets my ECM, Master and Laser Arm etc to how I like them. If I leave Master and Laser arm set to armed on the panel will the cockpit switches mirror this? Cheers, Dr Spankle
  19. Every JTAC I've ever worked with passed MGRS Grid, Square and coords every time. I've asked for this to be changed so hopefully we'll see something soon. Until then, in the F10 map you can left click on the coords and they will change format. Once you have MGRS just note the Grid you're in. Regards, Dr Spankle
  20. Yeah - good point. Thanks. Dr Spankle
  21. Hi all, I've never worked with a JTAC who didn't provide MGRS Grid, Square, and Coords for every position, be that friendly, enemy, or the boundary of an area to search. They always pass the Grid, the Square, and then generally will inform you of how many characters they are about to pass by saying 'Eight to Follow' or 'Six to Follow' depending on the accuracy of the position they have for you, before passing the coords. This removed confusion as to whether the transmission had been clipped after only receiving so many numbers. Can we change that? Also, I've never heard one use the phonetic phrase 'N/A' for Lines 1,2 & 3. Rather they would state the full phrase 'Not Applicable' if that were the case. Lots of people seem confused as to where to find the Grid, so this would help them, and it would also add realism. Cheers, Dr Spankle
  22. Hi everyone, How long are we likely to wait for the features released in Open Beta to reach the stable release? I appreciate that depends on a lot of things but is there a ball park figure? I'm looking forward to the coordinates grab feature (L Alt and L Mouse Click?) on the F10 map so we can type them in easier in VR. Cheers, Dr Spankle
  23. One of the annoying features (I find) when using the IR Mav in Multiplayer is waiting for them to time out after you R/R. You wait for a few minutes while you take fuel, and then you're re-armed, and then you have to wait 3 more minutes for the missiles to time out. One way to reduce the overall time spent is to Rearm and then refuel in that order. To do this don't move the fuel slider when you first request R/R. Thus you are only rearmed and the missiles begin their timeout. Then immediately request R/R again but this time set the fuel slider to maximum. Now the refuelling commences but crucially, during this time, your Mavs are still timing out. Be ready to pull away once the refuelling is complete or a whole new rearming will begin, which will reset the timeout for the missiles. You'll get the 'Hey, what are you doing?' from the crew chief, but I wouldn't worry, he's not real ... The whole process takes approximately the same time overall but, by rearming before refuelling, your mavs are ready to go when you are. Regards, Dr Spankle
  24. I've been powering off the Mavs subsequently before R&R back on the grd, then powering them up again once the R&R is complete. So far they're working just fine, so maybe this is a workaround.
  25. That's twice now in two days that my reloaded Mavs won't fire in MP. I fired 2 and dropped 1 GBU 12 to finish taking Sukhumi, then reloaded to attack the SA11 site further south. Just like last time the Mav locked up ok but just won't come off the rails. I turned cold and headed out to sea to check all switches, and everything was good. I've also had this with reloaded HARMs (as have others on this forum) so I suspect there's a bug introduced somewhere in the re-arming process. Obviously with a mission that warranted refuelling the file to upload is going to be massive (and I don't know how to do it ...), so can anyone give me a steer on how best to provide the files I need to upload please? Cheers, Dr Spankle
