  1. does it look very smooth, but with some wobbly artefacts? if so, could your headset be set to 72hz and ASW turned on? if not aware, with this setting it will be telling the game to cap fps at half the headsets fps/hz setting (therefore limited to 36fps) and synthesizing the missing frames to get it up to 72fps. If it's not always smooth, your PC might not be reaching a consistent 36 fps if you press cntrl + num pad 1, you might get all your PC capable fps back - it turns off ASW and sets it to ATW which isn't fps limiting but needs the game to be outputting fps close to the headsets fps/Hz setting to work smoothly (if set to 72hz, it'll need about 60 fps or more i believe)
  2. apparently the ability to store point cloud room scans in "the cloud" which would be great for the mixed reality games or if we move between sim setups. the last couple of PC app updates gave modest performance improvements when using cable (and now airlink) not sure they were even documented edit - just realised I can now go into passthrough and back into MT DCS (with turbo on) without it crashing. maybe the displays can now sleep/wake successfully too?
  3. Has anyone had v60 updated in the headset? I don't
  4. i can get turbo turned on if it's the very first thing i do when entering dcs, or, uninstall OTK / reinstall it and do the same in single thread. At least once its on, its on. I need it for smooth multithread otherwise dcs still has regular stutters, regardless of how low i set my gfx settings
  5. Thanks Matt! Amazing what you've achieved for us over the last couple of years, especially when others couldn't or wouldn't
  6. I wonder if it's mainly intel users having the issue with DCS not starting at all with the leap controllers installed? (though the finger interaction is broken for everyone else too)
  7. Fred's updated HTCC app is now working nicely with the q3 hand tracking (it's like a new and improved "point control" for folks who've never tried it). Though I prefer the convenience of the leap motion's snappyness and stability, for being able to hold the hands still while rotating wrist and point at the buttons, the HTCC app and Q3 tracking now seems to be working really well (if you're happy to move your hands all around your cockpit area). Still a little laggy and still can't quite reach the switches behind me because i cant rotate the hand, but at least we don't need an extra device attached to the headset Fred - if you happen to read this this, would it be possible to reduce the filtering a little (as an option?) to reduce the latency? (if sample/averaging is what's creating the lag?) please disregard - selecting the finger joint pose option has given me what I was hoping for Thank you for making the recent improvements Between Tuesday's oculus PC app update and the latest nvidia driver update, I seem to have gained a couple of FPS or at least some consistency edit - got another PC oculus update today. It's Oculus app version 60.0.0.162.352 (60.0.0.162.352) is everyone else on the same version? I have the smoothest DCS / VR performance I've ever had since owning the Q3 and I'm wondering if it's because of the last two updates? Anyone else seeing a difference? For me, Airlink is now clearer, smoother and with less artifacts than virtual desktop when both at max settings. Airlink hand tracking (pointing) is working just as well as when cabled. I have ODBT set to 500mb/s and it's almost as smooth and clear as cabled link with same settings. I think airlink might pull bitrate back a bit regardless of ODBT setting as it's just not quite as good as cabled when reading the mfd's. Looks like things have been improved in the last updates
  8. quest 3 controller strapped to the back of hand works beaut as a laser pointer and it's out of the way when using the hotas
  9. Can we please have an option to have the pointing lasers on within the cockpit? Have they been disabled intentionally or just an oversight in 2.9? Can we please have an option for the crosshairs to be a fixed size, regardless of how far away the button is that the crosshairs are hovering over?
  10. I'd like to say thanks to the dcs team too. It's by far my most played software. Even after flying it for a couple of years, I feel like I've only scratched the surface and it offers a lot to keep me interested. ..... and thanks to our fellow VR folk who kindly share your tips and findings reading the various forums, it looks like there are a lot of newcomers to vr just in this last month
  11. the other Aus, but still the truth
  12. Can't see any shift in price yet here in Aus
  13. unfortunately I can't quite run the resolution I need to read the MFD's clearly enough when using the options available in VD. By the time I get close, I've fallen below the synchronous spacewarp threshold and I don't enjoy flying without it. I also use leap motion for which I haven't yet found a wireless solution. One day we'll get there
  14. Yes. You'll need the latest headset software update which allows you to extend the display sleep timer. You'll also need a piece of white electrical tape (or some other semi opaque tape) to cover the sensor
  15. I can't see much difference, if any, between 500 and 960 with regard to smearing or artefacts. 960 will give me occasional audio glitches on some parts of a map. 920 is even worse and I'll hear them almost all the time. 500 is glitch-free for me.
  16. Fred, you're the only other person I've seen mention the lag and commented on it. I posted about it a while back too. I've got them both. I would still buy the Q3 over the Pro even if the pro was the same price. Imho, for DCS where visible fine details are important, dynamic foveated rendering unfortunately cannot fix visible screen door and lack of panel resolution. Even the blacks and colours aren't hugely different between the two headsets I find.
  17. Watching my ceiling fans through the passthrough, there's absolutely no rolling shutter effect even with the fan at max. I'd say they've used sensors with global shutters, which might explain the lack of dynamic range and the amount of noise in low light
  18. One of these arrived today and I can confirm it charges while flying With only the quest 3 attached in the charge port (no other USB devices attached) the charge increases about 2% every 5 minutes so far while playing over cable link. It's meter says it's outputting 21 watts With the Leap motion v2 (which is pretty thirsty) plugged into another port, the charge rate drops to about 1% every 30 minutes or sometimes a very slow discharge. The meter says about 8 watts ** just to note - on my motherboard, to get the headset to connect at over 8 watts, the cable needs to be connected to the headset first, then connect the other end to the hub. If not in this order, it will not go above 8 watts. Unplugging/re-plugging at the headset end does not appear to bring it back up to 20w - if I change headset frequencies or resolutions causing the headset to briefly reset, the hub may drop back to 8 watts. Therefore I need to unplug cable at hub, wait a few seconds, then re connect at hub. Not a deal breaker for me but it caught me out a few times. Special price ends in the next day or so. It's currently $29.95 aud delivered. Took 5 days to arrive. Timberwolf - thanks for suggesting that one
  19. this is not the app I've been told about, but nice to know there are other options in the works
  20. If your main concern is with IPD, I reckon you'd be fine as the lenses are so clear at the edges and it extends to about 7.1. I leave it set at max and everyone who's tried it with me had no problems with it at max, even folk who usually needed the g2 set to 5.8 for their vision to be comfortable I don't use iracing, but I love it in AMS2 and Assetto Corsa. There's presently a bug with oculus 5.9 pc software which is preventing opencomposite from working (which means I need to use oculus' openxr), so I can't adjust the world scale via openxrtoolkit (for assetto). The world is far too small without it. People have rolled back to 5.7 to fix it opencomposite discord chat says it's fixed in the latest system-wide opencomposite switcher update AMS2 has it's own scale adjustment so no probs there
  21. If you've still got your leap drivers installed, they must be removed for the oculus controllers and hands to show as an option. An option for "controllers" and "tracking" will then be present in the VR drop down menu. I hope they fix it so both can exist, and also give us back the lasers once entering the cockpit. once in the plane, I can only see the crosshairs at the moment
  22. yes it can, but it's pretty poor from my experiences with it. I'd say the tracking data is noisy and they've had to filter it considerably to get it somewhat stable, but that's created lag. It doesn't track well to the sides of the body. Finger interaction is also iffy The leap motion controller v2 is a lot better. It's about $230 aud. It's what I'm using but unfortunately it does add a little to the weight of the headset, plus an extra cable running to the headset. Finger interaction "was" okay till the 2.9 update where it's now working intermittently. I don't use finger interaction (only pointing) and use buttons on the hotas to flick the switches and turn the dials that I'm pointing at
  23. I have a couple of PC's with almost identical hardware except for the video cards. Just wanted to share that when I'm switching between f1 & f10 views (This applies to multithreaded mode - single player or on a multiplayer server); - rtx3080 and Reverb G2 switches instantly/smoothly with no hiccups at all. When using the quest 3 / pro it will often stutter when returning to f1 view, but will generally recover / return to normal performance 1 to 10 seconds later. - With rtx 4090 and Reverb G2 it switches instantly/smoothly with no hiccups at all. With Quest 3 / pro, there can be a 1/2 to 2 second pause when returning to f1 view, and then the game returns to normal performance. There is no perceivable fps drop, just a pause. The pause is usually longest the first time I switch f1/f10 after starting a flight.
  24. hi, i'm doubtful about it slowing the discharge rate by much.
  25. seems that more people are having greater success with USB-C 9v 2.2A or higher rather than USB-A 5v at any current. The Aliexpress Minisopuru store has it on special $30-$38 AUD including delivery https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005883913960.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.21ef1802YgAP1y null
