  1. The markings on 665 (aka: The Hangar-queen, since it spent more time in the hangar with Snags than it did in the air back in 2000 when I was at 331/334sqd at Bodø MAS) in the pictures belonged to 334sqd while it was still operational as an F-16 unit. This might have changed now, though. The markings on 674 tells that it's a 331sqd-aircraft. The Aircraft of 331 used also to have a blue lightningbolt beneath the cockpit, although this was painted over on many of the aircrafts these days. As far as I know, S.O.P nowadays is that the aircraft get their finflash painted over, thus not being identifiable as belonging to one specific squadron. The other two squadrons, 332 (Bodø MAS) and 338 (Ørland MAS), both feature a yellow and black finflash. 332 has a two-part flash, similar to the one you find on 665 (black upper, yellow lower part). 338 has a yellow lightningbolt on a black triangle. On the 338sqd, you could also see that some had a blue Bow-and-arrow design on the upper part of the fin. Check out http://www.f-16.net/gallery_item25601_page4.html for more pictures of the finflashes =)
  2. You can also check here for more pics of the Tiger Meet, including pics from the opening ceremony. Page is in Norwegian, but it's the pictures that are interesting =)
  3. Good work! Can't wait to try this one out when it's released. I'm usually too lazy to bother with many of the mods, so this'll be a good way for me to get the best stuff out there :D
  4. Did an Upgrade through the installer for my rX1950Pro, went from 7.8 to 7.9 without a hitch. Running Vista32bit, marginal increase in framerates during testing (Company of Heroes, Quake Wars, Lock On:FC). No problems what so ever.
  5. Yep. Sadly there's few "true" 109's left flying, which is a shame. Would be damn nice to see one in flight. We can just hope that the newly restored FW190 and ME262 starts to fly the Airshow-circuits.
  6. Very nice work! Loved the VA-65-skin
  7. GMAX was available, but after October 2005, Autodesk discontinued it. As far as I know, the export-plugins does NOT work with GMAX, only with the full 3D Studio MAX. You might be able to find GMAX other places on the web, since it was and still is popular, and freeware. memo to self: read the entire thread before posting...
  8. I currently run with an r1950Pro, but I'm looking at either the Twin-chip r2600X2 that's coming from GeCube and Sapphire, or going all-out with an HD2900XT. The last option depends on the twin-R2600XT's cost vs Performance, though. The rumors on the street says that Sapphire's Gemini HD2600X2 Dual-GPU card will retail about $259 for the 512mb-version, and $279 for the 1024mb-version, which isn't TOO bad. Especially not if the speed is up to spec. And since both the GeCube and the Sapphire HD2600X2's are Crossfire-enabled, it would be quite fun to see how two Dual-GPU cards perform in such a config. Going to await some benchmarks and reviews before I make my choice, though. Which also helps on the rather hefty pricetag of the HD2900XT since it retails for about $450 here in Norway. Personally I'd not take the step up to DX10.1-hardware before there were actually games that supported it. Anything else is to toss money out the window, and ESPECIALLY if DX10.1-cards aren't backwards-compatible. I have, though, no reason to believe that they aren't, as both ATI/AMD and nVidia knows that people do play older games on newer hardware.
  9. Can also mention that the main difference between 3D Studio MAX and GMAX is that GMAX does NOT include the rendering-engines from 3DS Max, since it's mainly for modeling/animation aimed at game-developers, and not image/movie-production. GMAX should, unless Autodesk has changed things, be a free-to-use product. There's a lot of places where you can find tutorials for MAX/GMAX, but as mentioned; be aware that the learning-curve is VERY steep for both. Here's a few links: The Stupid Idiots' Guide to starting with gMax GMAX Aircraft Tutorial Learning to create aircraft with GMAX Edit: Nevermind, according to the message on Autodesk's webpage, they've discontinued the GMAX-line after October 6, 2005 and are pushing for people to get the full 3DS MAX-suite.
  10. Sweet sweet pictures, as always! And if you're going to Orland: Welcome to Norway, and welcome to one of the most sorry places here :D Spent two weeks at Orland AFB while serving my mandatory year in the RNoAF as an F16 CCA. Of course, after two weeks at Banak AFB up near the north cape, Orland is a wonderful place :D
  11. I'd say that watercooling may cost more, but you'll help the overall heat-management inside the case regardless if you overclock or not since that's what'll kill components faster than most other things. This is especially true if you have a small and cramped case like for example the Coolermaster Centurion 534 or other midi-towers with similar layouts and similar lack of suficcient airflow :) In the end, though, it comes down to what you're willing to pay for and personal preference.
  12. I bought a Thermaltake Kandalf LCS a few months back, and it's brilliant. It's basically got the BigWater cooling-system from Thermaltake, but the entire front-door holds the 360x120mm radiator. Took some pics (poor ones) from the building-process, but you get an idea of the pure size of the enclosure and such things through them. http://www.home.no/fjordmonkey/Images/Kandalf/ The only problems with the case: weight (about 25kg), price (cost me about $300 here in Norway), and sheer size. It's also NOT soundless, mostly due to the 3x12cm fans that cool the radiator, and the single 12cm fan in the back. You can, if you want to, put another 12cm in the front to cool the 3,5"-bays there plus two 9cm's in the upper back and up top, but that will bounce your noiselevels higher. There's also the little detail about it using Ethylene Glycol, which is poisonous to most living things. Leaks = definately not good. Neither for you nor your hardware :P But cool the CPU? Hell yes. I've been able to push the Core-temperatures of my stock-clocked E6300 up to 45c, but that's on a hot day and after four hours of Prime95 Torture-testing.
  13. Have you tried to go back to an earlier version of Catalyst? Have come across some forum-threads where people have had issues with the 7.8-set.
  14. A DX10-capable card will still render DX7/8/9-graphics just fine. They're backwards-compatible.
  15. Nice pic :D Reach, yes. Lots of aircraft can do that. But cruise at the same altitude? I'd like to see a MiG29 do that :D
  16. Stick-actuator malfunction :D Seriously, though, take a look at the manual :) Lots of very good, and VERY useful stuff there
  17. Thanks, Skopro_PL
  18. Nice pics :D Here's a kind-of OT-question for the Bug-knowers: Does the Blue Angels/Aggressor-bugs fly with the cannon installed? I know that the gun in the F16N (Aggressor) is taken out, and unless I'm wrong, it's the same on the Thunderbirds.
  19. Personally, I wouldn't want to waste hardpoints or weapon-capabilities through carrying the R-73 on a KA-50. I'm fairly sure that this has been mentioned by others in this thread; it doesn't make any sort of tactical sense for a helo to carry AAM's since you'd want to use other aircrafts to take them out. Why take a knife to a gunfight? Besides, it's not very intelligent warmaking flying a chopper into an area without sufficient support from friendly fast-movers or when you've got air superiority. True, CAS/BAI-aircraft could be a problem, but that's why you've got escorts or support of some sort. One can, though, argue that it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. The problem with that arguement is that especially on a chopper, your range is limited by among other things the amount of ordnance you fly with. I would think that you'd want to bring enough kaboomery to get the specific job done, and trust your escort/high cover for anything else.
  20. Doesn't mean all that much. You usually don't have time to look at the ground for longer than it takes you to judge your altitude since you're busy looking for the ground-units firing at you :D
  21. Hmm...true that. Forgot about that one.
  22. I doubt that the people that run the servers would be very happy to have any version of StarForce on their servers (especially if they were co-hosted or Virtual Private Servers). Besides, I SEVERELY doubt that a 1Unit high server will have the GFX-power to run Lock On even in it's most basic form. That's not really what they're build for.
  23. Stunning work, D!
  24. The first one was sweet, but that last one was simply awesome!
  25. The last patch for FC should sort out the Vista-issues, as far as I've been told. If not, StarForce has an updated driver-package for Vista on their website. I had to install that one to get TOCA Race Driver III to work.
