  1. I don't NEED normal alignment either to throw rockets around. But "Measured absolute inertial velocity components" seems like an important factor to me when it comes to inertial navigation, unless I missunderstand its meaning. I don't really get the relation(s) between INU alignment(s) and ABRIS as well as the autopilot and datalink targets yet, so it might turn out all that is really not necessary but during my last two flights I was observing my heading on the whiskey compass and HSI more than my surroundings and had top correct my heading every two or three minutes. And I was not able to align on the moving Tarawa at all (although it could be that that's not possible anyway when moving)
  2. jup... that's a very typical ground crew job after all.
  3. I guess it's less of an issue with the igla but rather with the damage model of the AI aircraft. The AI Mi8 can take two or three stingers and a direct salvo hit of a Gepard or Zu23 and fly the 100km home with a long trail of smoke and a burning engine.
  4. Cheers everyone and congratulations to ED for an extremely nice release and a beautiful model of an amazing helicopter. This detail is incredible, have you guys took a close look at the rotor head? Oh... My... Gosh... WOW! Anyway, dear ED, it would be absolutely great if you guys could implement a special option for a fast long alignment. I get the desire for maximum realism and I do like to learn all kind of aircraft systems as well, I really do, but 20 minutes for a precise alignment is, to be blunt, not exactly family friendly. When I want to do a nice flight with my squadron comrades and have to wait for 20 minutes for a precise alignment the evening is over before we actually take off. We have a family, we fly on online servers where you might get shot down not only once in your life and waiting 20 minutes for a precise alignment is not feasible for casual spare time use. Razbam has an option for their Harrier to align the system immediately if desired. It would be great if you could do that for the BS3 as well. Yes, it's not realistic, I get that. But drinking a beer and lauging about silly jokes in discord isn't either, right? That's why it's an option Thanks for consideration Happy landings!
  5. Nope and I won't wait 20 minutes for an INS system to align when all I want is a nice Ka50 evening session with a couple of other people. I have a family xD Turn on the BS and go for a walk with the dog or what xD
  6. I mean, the whole helicopter will hardly be found in the world with an english cockpit at all so when selecting english for those whose russian is a little rusty the WHOLE cockpit should actually be in english It makes little sense to leave the HUD out.
  7. used to work correctly before. Now it turns to either side, left in my case most of the time and doesn't stop. The point of this mode is not to be required to do that but let the aircraft fly/hover itself
  8. Yes it does. And all the other 2 and 3 pos switches have new bindings as well.
  9. That‘s certainly frustrating but it‘s impossible to help you if you don‘t provide any information at all. pressed F1?
  10. That‘s true, I seem to have misunderstood what you meant. There is nothing to be set as a SPI above the horizon but the A10 has to have a SPI so it reverts to the STPT (or it should at least)
  11. No it has always been possible. I have often used to do that when I hae a long way to fly on our persistent server, 100nm or more. I just slewed all sensors to SPI (STPT) and then set TGP SPI. When I got there (for example Sochi from Kutaisi) it was right on point and at 40-50 nm out I got a picture. The SPI is a coordinate on the topography of the earth, nothing more.
  12. There is currently no point in desperately tweaking the VR performance. 2.7 was performing really nicely, 2.8 broke it down to approx. a third of my previous FPS. downgrading to 2.7 resolves the issue. I use the Reverb G2 and a really fast PC, in 2.7 I can fly at 60 FPS without any stutters in the F16 and F18, 40ish FPS in the Ka50 and a bit more in the Hind. No problems in the A10 either, around 60 as well. 2.8, as I said, brings me down to 20 FPS in VR. That's neither a matter of tweaks nor is it acceptable to keep it this way and by the reaction of ED or their testers it seems they agree on it. So before you make dramatic changes to your systems hold on a while and wait for the next updates.
  13. Lol and there the trouble is shot. this sudden lack of AA drove me crazy. Thank you!
  14. sry but WHAT IS this HMD mask? I'm currently troubleshooting something and this hit my eyes...
  15. Late response but it‘s actually there, right above the head. Could be it was further foreward in the past, not sure
  16. Great explanation, thank you!
  17. Cheers everyone. In 2.7 I've always had less FPS in the Ka50 in VR than in other modules but it was acceptable. I used to fly at between 30 and 40 FPS with an otherwise smooth sim, Reverb G2, Open XR, Ryzen 9 5900X, RX6900XT OC. Since 2.8 I have had 15-18 FPS, barely 20+ on the Caucasus map in the Ka50 which makes it a guarantee for a nice headache after a while. It's still smooth, no stutters that were worth to be mentioned but the overall performance has decreased a lot. Other modules as well but in the Viper for example I still fly at 40+ FPS, Huey and Hind are totally fine as well to name other helicopters. What's your experience and do you have any recommendations?
  18. The Uh1 has a slowly moving and lagging hydraulic control system with the swash plate only controlling two rotor blades. If you make fast or twitchy inputs the Huey will build up oscillation that won‘t go away as long as you move the stick. Control it with slow and distinctive movement on the cyclic and only slow collective changes and it will fly perfectly smooth and very precise. It has probably the best hover simulation of all the DCS helos and a great system simulation. Don‘t waste money on the gazelle, looks good but doesn‘t behave like a helicopter at all. Mi-8 and all above Hind fly believable but the Hind is certainly the more modern addon (in terms of flight model development), its off-center rotor head and the wings make it an interesting chopper to fly savely. Ka50, believable but I don‘t know anything about the physics of twin rotors, all above in this configuration.
  19. So it's the same on your side? I'm currently running a repair and would have updated my trusty AMD driver next... but if you see the same I can leave it how it is.
  20. This is a screenshot from 2.7 in August
  21. Evening everyone, I'm using the Reverb G2 with Open XR in the always latest DCS beta. In 2.7 clouds were okay, obviously not as great as in 2D mode but absolutely fine for what VR can do atm. But since 2.8 the clouds have been absolutely terrible. Have a look yourself, I hope someone has some good advice I may add that Anti Aliasing is extremely bad as well, very noticable on the screens of the A10. I do have the Barthek Caucasus mod installed here but removing it doesn'*t make any difference.
  22. Understood, thank you!
  23. Barthek, you‘re awesome!
  24. Turn off the mirrors and try again. Long standing bug if it‘s that.
