  1. That video is all dogfighting, though. There's not a whole lot out there about BVR.. My favorite video that covers some BVR is in a vid about F/A-18C pilots that travel to Germany to participate in mock combat against the former East German MiG-29s. Anyway, there's a segment where the Hornets "fire" (simulated) AMRAAMs, crank, then notch as the missiles go pitbull. There are some interesting in-cockpit views showing just how aggressive the notch maneuver is, and it's interesting to listen to the communications and sequence of the engagement. Watch this video, starting around 5 minutes in and lasting through into the next video. It might not be anything new to you guys, but it's really the only look at BVR that I've ever found.
  2. Hahaha, I love the music Rudel's got going... "Dos Gringos" for the win! :D
  3. I too have noticed that the Huey feels unstable in roll, as if it's wanting to constantly rock back and forth. Partly I think this is because I come from airplanes which have much higher roll inertias, so they're not as touchy, and I'm not used to it. For what it's worth, I'd believe the way the Huey behaves is realistic. There's not a whole lot of mass far from the CG in the roll axis. I figure it just means I need more time to get used to it. :)
  4. I'd imagine the conventional package would serve as quite a distraction, busy enough to help the stealthy bats slip through.
  5. Hahaha, awesome! Can we get that on the MiG? Maybe an updated version, made of AK-47s. :D
  6. Is... Is that a belly full of PPShs?!? Haha, wow, I'd never seen that before! :shocking:
  7. I'm thinking of doing exactly that. I happily contributed to the Indiegogo campaign originally, and I'd be happy to buy a second copy to help support Leatherneck Studios. Plus that way I can get my brother to try flying it with me! ;)
  8. I'm just glad that we'll get the MiG, whenever that happens. Definitely looking forward to getting shot down repeatedly in it as I try to learn to fly and fight in the thing! :D
  9. It may or may not mean anything. Speculation sure is rampant around here. From the IRIS thread recently, by Skatezilla:
  10. Or maybe ED are researching what it would take to do so.
  11. Doesn't RIO stand for some thing like "Radar Intercept Officer", while WSO is "Weapon Systems Officer" or something like that? So both would be correct in their respective contexts. :D And I've had a father proudly tell me his son flies a Super Hornet while we're standing right in front of him preflighting a C- model Hornet. I figured it wouldn't do any good to point that out; that his son flies a fighter is close enough for the proud dad. :)
  12. Ah, good point!
  13. To quote from Wags' announcement:
  14. Congrats Kuky, and thanks for posting that! I'm a flight instructor, flying nearly every day, and I STILL start feeling sick in the air sometimes. No shame in puking. :)
  15. Probably because FSX is a MUCH larger market with far more customers. It's been around a long time.
  16. I too would LOVE to have profiles for those additional weapons. I've finally just started trying to learn how to fly these profiles. However, given how old this thread is I'd bet the only way to get them is by joining up with the vFG. --NoJoe
  17. If you're referring to Wags' post from way back in September, it's probably the wake effects on the water. The most recent post was of the Su-24, which looks awesome! ;) And I gotta say it: in the second pic from underneath, it looks almost as if it's flying over brown-colored terrain. Kinda like Nevada... :P (I have a vivid imagination) --NoJoe
  18. Hahaha, that looks hilarious! Didn't it start off as a joke, but then here it is due to popular demand?

    Omaha!!!

There's constant honking and cheering outside our window right now.
  20. "You had me at 'radar contact'". :D I too am anxious to hear what's up with the MiG team, but really it's not ours to know. Patience; we'll hear more when they're ready. :) In the mean time I'm trying to learn bombing and rocket attacks with the P-51D. It's not gone well... --NoJoe
  21. I second this; I had a similar problem with the R-27s and it turned out I had the vis range set to low. Bump it up to Medium at least; that might fix it.
  22. Whoa, that's faster than I'd thought. Source? :)
  23. I'm wondering that too. As far as I know you are required to follow the regulations of the airspace you're currently in. So when flying from the US into the UK, you start following the UK regulations once you've entered their airspace. As for the ICAO, their rules provide guidance for rule-making to keep things common between countries, but I think it's the local regulations that have to be followed. Again, "as far as I know". I'm a pilot in the US, but I don't do any international flights so I haven't had to deal with this yet. --NoJoe
  24. I think the forums have been hidden while the team sorts out the issues internally. We'll just all have to be patient and wait for official word. :) --NoJoe
  25. Could be that the automatic yaw stability (or "yaw damper"?) detects the aircraft yawing left, so it applies right rudder to compensate. Maybe? Totally a guess on my part. But that was a really neat video! --NoJoe
