In new maps, anyway.

From Matt's interview with Mudspike: http://www.mudspike.com/qa-with-matt-wagner-producer-eagle-dynamics/ So hopefully, yes! :)

The "GUN" inside the plane! The A-10 Thunderbolt!

Cool video! I like the clips of the shot-up M113. Kinda weird that it repeats itself though. -
Yes! Unfortunately I missed seeing the takeoff live, but I'll be watching these guys as they fly. Especially over the oceans... Incredible journey!

And just to be pedantic, Cobra didn't say "Air to Ground radar"; he just said "Ground radar": "Examples of complexity include e.g. Ground Radar, AI Systems, and more." DCS: Early Warning Radar Installation, anyone? :P

Hmmm, the picture for "Theatre Dev" looks suspiciously like a 20mm Oerlikon machine gun mounted on a ship... WW2 theatre incoming? Also, excellent news, and can't wait to see what's coming down the pipe! -
I don't know about you, but I'm going to be fighting Bf-109s and Mitsubishi Zeros if I can help it. :P :pilotfly:

It's time for me to upgrade to 16GB of RAM. I have 8 right now, and I fairly regularly run out when I'm flying DCS or X-Plane. Though to be fair I usually also have music playing, at least several browser tabs open, and sometimes a movie playing at the same time. More RAM never hurts. I figure I'll spec my computer for other demanding games I play, and DCS 2.0 will just fit in nicely when it comes out.

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
NoJoe replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Wait, it's in ... knots! And feet! -
It sounds to me like the issue Sova is bringing up is that the data suggest the required runway length for those conditions is 2000 meters, while he was able to takeoff in only about half that. However, I wonder where that 2000 meters figure comes from. Is it 2000 meters of ground roll, or is it something like 2000 meters is required for safety reasons even though the actual takeoff takes less? Maybe a regulatory requirement? For the real planes I fly the takeoff calculations typically deal with two different numbers: the ground roll distance (how far along the runway must the plane travel before it lifts off), and the 50-foot takeoff distance (how far along the runway it must travel to lift off and then reach 50 feet high). I wonder if the 2000 meter figure is something like the latter? Or another possibility: many aircraft have the ability to calculate an accelerate-stop distance; essentially the total runway required for the plane to accelerate to liftoff speed, then brake to a stop again. I wonder if the 2000 meter distance is something like that?

There's a little latch at the base of the throttle, at the aft end. Click on that, and it should pull the throttles over the stop aft, and shut down the engine. :)

Leatherneck Simulations Monthly Update - January 2015
NoJoe replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Is it just me, or are the nav lights on the wingtips backward on that "Future Projects" banner? (red on the right, green on the left). :P But seriously, great to hear about the upcoming things, both MiG-21 and otherwise!! :D -
I think the new screenshots look amazing. But not nearly as amazing as the clouds in the Bf-109 trailer video! That broken layer looks SO REAL, especially combined with the new lighting in EDGE, giving everything that bluish tint. I fly for a living, and that's strikingly similar to how the world looks on a sunny(ish) day down low. I love it. Can't wait!

Airport frequencies and AWACS question ...??
NoJoe replied to simo1000rr's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
In a BRAA (Bearing Range Altitude Aspect) call the bearing is magnetic bearing from your airplane. So that "160" means fly a magnetic heading of 160 and you'll be pointing straight at them. -
Plot twist: it's actually the AT-802u. :P

Haha, what a great game! On my first cruise the reactor room flooded due to a broken heat exchanger. So I promptly sent my senior engineer in to repair it, causing a wave of radioactive water to come pouring out into the hallway. I then accidentally activated the reactor room ventilation system, spreading radiation throughout the ship. I am a good captain.

Oh wait, sorry, I linked to the wrong thing; I was thinking this was something else. But in any case yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a mod that uses the F-15C cockpit with the Hornet external model.
-
It's the AI Hornet. :) See here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=133030

Hah, nice landing, and happy birthday!

What's the Mach number though? Remember IAS inaccuracies are simulated when flying transonic and supersonic. I wonder if this could be part of what's going on?
-
Oh wow, there is indeed some weird wind effect going on there... I'm attaching a track of a short flight in the MiG, starting from a runway takeoff at Batumi. The wind was set to 309 degrees at 50 m/s. The airspeed indicator reads very strangely. After takeoff I do a mostly level turn; watch as the airspeed indicator goes way up to 900 kph as I'm facing into the wind, then all the way down to ~250 kph as I turn roughly downwind. The plane's responsiveness changed accordingly. For the ending I just let it stall awkwardly into the Black Sea. :D I do think there is something strange here. WackyWind.trk

This is what I do, too. That way I can press the little safety switch while I'm sitting still on the ground. Once I'm actually on the takeoff roll and my attention is focused on flying the plane, all I have to do is retract the gear. Some things on this plane are slightly wacky, but hey, it's just like the real MiG-21!
-
True, no worries! I'm going to have a go and see if I can reproduce this too.
-
No need to be rude, it was just a suggestion. :) I also notice in the on-screen data from the video that your video card is only reporting 1.5GB of VRAM (1546MB), which would be even easier to fill than 2GB especially with a ground texture mod. Try running at low texture detail to see if the issue repeats. It would be a good test, and might help the devs narrow down what is causing this issue.
