This might sound weird, but try turning down the texture settings in the options and see if it happens again. That kind of fps loss sounds like your video card may be running out of VRAM, the small amount of extra things that turn on with the battery might push it over the edge (and I see from your signature you have a 2GB GTX 660). Worth a shot?

I think Kanami34 is correct. In cloud penetration mode the yellow bar for lateral nav on the KPP (attitude indicator) goes away, replaced by a yellow bar for vertical nav. That's how it's been working for me, which works just fine. Once I've reached the RSBN station at 600m above, I turn to my landing heading and fly a big box pattern. It's great; it's so simple! I kind of wish we had instrument approaches here in the US that fly like that. It's a different way of doing it, which is fun! :)

Regardless of how this goes, I'd hope the current behavior remains as the default, at least for "game" mode. Imagine the customer service claims if the only nose wheel steering was by differential braking, even if that is realistic! You'd have loads of people wondering why their twist-stick rudder doesn't seem to work on the ground.

I think there are two different release dates being discussed at the same time here: 1. DCS World 2.0, which is estimated "later this year" 2. Straight of Hormuz map, which is estimated "winter of 2014" (i.e. probably a little later). Makes sense to me to release the game engine first, then later release this new map for it. :)

That... was a really good summary! Since I do have the MiG-21bis I'd add that it's a simple plane to learn, difficult to master. The cockpit design is very old-school, before the days of ergonomics, but the systems are pretty straight-forward. Everything about it feels sturdy and analogue, simple but complex at the same time. I'm loving it so far and I've barely even begun learning the weapon systems! Definitely a must-have if you want to feel like you're flying a Mach 2 sports car from the 60s!

Looked like this was multiplayer, so it's possible latency came into play. I've seen some planes do weird things in MP sometimes. The best way to find out would be to try that yourself in the MiG. I might go do that...
-
To get back on track, can you post a track? (pun ... intended?) :P Navigation stuff is the next thing I want to learn in this plane, so I'll have the perfect opportunity to try and reproduce the issue you're having.

I do wish the manual covered how the various systems work. I too am finding myself wondering how the fuel system is set up.
-
Ah, I see. Thanks. Not sure how much relevant info we can glean from that old page though. :)
-
Just curious, where are you getting this? Looking at Eagle's wikipedia entry I find only the first sentence from what you posted. Link?
-
Oh yeah, I +repped you Tetra, but forgot to say: Way to go, thanks for posting that! :)
-
Are you trying to get the beacon map to show up on the kneeboard in a plane? If so, check out this thread, then give Tetra some +rep. ;) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130720 Otherwise, you don't "install" the .jpeg file anywhere. You just open it and look at it.

Even before that, Graphsim's Hornet 1 had nukes in a desert campaign. Pretty sure it was Iraq. I remember a great mission where you had to fly low along a river "valley" (the terrain was just a flat plane with pyramids for hills) and drop a nuke on a dam at the end. So many great memories of that... :D But anyway...
-
Agreed, thank you all for the marvelous aircraft! No time to type more, must get back to flying high and fast! :D
-
That's not a mod.

Maybe it's something like the JFS (Jet Fuel Starter) in the F-16 and others? Like a mini-APU, but only for starting the engines? Alternately "APU" could be "Auxiliary Power Unicorn" or something, but that's probably less likely. :D Either way, I'm really looking forward to diving into this plane. Lots to learn!

Thank you Leatherneck guys! <3

I ... I don't think that's true. Do you have a source to back up that claim? :helpsmilie: We really need a [citation needed] smiley on these forums. :P

Seems to me like the BMPs compute a more accurate firing solution as I fly by, compared to the Shilkas. The Shilkas seem to fire behind me most of the time while the BMPs are right on. But that said, I haven't had any trouble with them. I occasionally get within their firing arc when I'm in the A-10, but down that low I'm never flying in a straight line so they don't hit me. If I do decide to fly nice and straight, I get what I deserve for sure!
-
I'd love to see that in DCS World! I remember the training maps for Graphsim's Hornet series were the Hawaiian Islands. I've shot down so many simulated DC-10s there...

Haha, this thread has grown impressively fast! Congrats on the release date!

I like the idea of the UPK-23s and Kh-66s even though they may not be totally "realistic". I think it's a best case scenario: those who want them can play with them, and those who don't can choose to not load them. That'd be my vote anyway. :)

I'm hoping that new skeletal animation makes its way into the improved carrier ops. Actual hand gestures to taxi us around the deck, etc... I can dream. :) In the near term I can't wait to explore around Nevada with the Huey. Low and slow's the way to go!

The top part, probably. :music_whistling: :P

Wow. There's so much good stuff to look forward to! :D That just leaves the question: how am I going to find enough time to fly all these planes? Exciting newsletter!
