  1. Called it. Here's finally the unveil. :)
  2. Hey guys. I've had CH's propedals like forever. I believe mine were 10 years old or more (cant even remember anymore). I have never had other model and now I'm losing axis one after the other. Toe brakes no longer work. So which ones should I get that are somewhat reliable and have good feel to them? (always found these propedals to be very clunky ) Im looking at Simware site, and the only real affordable pedals are all from SAITEK/MADcatz 1-proflight rudder 2-proflight combat rudder 3-pro flight Cessna Opinions would be welcome! :)
  3. ^^^^ OMG ROFL I had to change my pants!
  4. they had single engines in the navy for a long time and several times. F-8, A-7 just to name a few.
  5. never Amazon neither E-bay, Although did resorted to simware and toys r'us in some emergency situations. :) I like to go out search in shopping centers, look at the shops a few times and snatch the goods myself.
  6. you got it backwards, either I hadn't been clear enough or you missed the background of the discussion I was engaged in. :)
  7. Technically the YF-17 and F-18 are totally different aircraft, kinda like comparing the Mig-29 with the Su-27.
  8. If they manage to produce a fighter that doesn't corrode away due to sketchy stealth sealants that alone would be progress. :D Also think more durable stealth skin that would allow higher speeds (currently its a limitation). AIM-9X integration, HMDS integration HUDless wide screen dash. Progress baby (although I would miss the stylish HUD in a SIM).
  9. Nothing in this news points in the direction where the new design would look remotely like an FB-22 which would self-defeat the air superiority role. Also the F-22A has never been a strictly AA platform, and most likely the new fighter will be pretty analogous to that.
  10. They specified an air superiority fighter not a striker. That is the role of the F-35 and theres no reason to just do a clone.
  11. Russian Proton rocket launches ESA probe to scan for methane sources on Mars! r8TeYts8kcI Its nice to see this type of cooperation these days. I laughed hard at the Donald Duck voice from the ESA representative though.
  12. They want a 6th gen plane off from a 5th one. They save a ton of money right off the bat even before they start thinking about the tooling. Worst case scenario the tooling will be completely new, best case scenario there will be savings on both sides.
  13. ...for strike fighters. Maybe because people thought A2A was a thing of the past and asymmetrical warfare with troops on the ground needing air support from planes that could not always be based on the backdoor due to political reasons was the way of the future. While that is a nice to have more and more people think the global geopolitical situation will be different, along with new counters. This is why I think air superiority and new fighters will be a thing again.
  14. ATD-X high speed taxi tests. Cant be too long now. :) EJMNzCE6MpI
  15. The USAF is using 200+ F-15C's, so 300 machines would have been sufficient IMHO. 700+ an exaggeration, in all honesty the economy of scale in the plane was not THAT great. :)
  16. Its explained in the article. Costly in maintenance, not to mention weight savings. You might argue if that's worth it. I don't know for sure, but they have to start somewhere to bring that 200mil price tag down. A speed bump is also implied so its not like a downgrade. We will see.
  17. With those features it sounds more like a F-22E super-raptor.
  18. Interesting article: http://www.combataircraft.net/view_article.asp?id=9498 So now the F-22 production cancelation over 7 years ago was recognized as a mistake. The USAF is scrambling to catch some ground lost, and manufacturers are proposing using a current fighter design as a starting point to cut down the development of a 6th gen design by using proven tech. The likely candidate to go back to the drawing board is the F-22. Kinda saw that one coming.
  19. To be fair the current prototypes are not using the final engines with the radar blockers yet. It's too early and the Russians are facing other bigger issues and challenges to get it to production.
  20. I disagree with the above excerpt from your post. The Eurofighter and superhornet both have advanced radars, the EF in particular will have an AESA unit, likely before the F-35 shows up in significant numbers. EF approaches the AA problem from a different angle, instead of stealth it will shoot at a distance beyond the reach of its opposition using meteors with the corresponding variance in tactics that implies (and SH). The SH in particular has likely the 3rd lowest RCS value of any fighter under the F-22 right now. There is a large amount of imagination put forth in your post by saying SH and EF are crap. They are world class fighters and are in service today. If any capability can be doubted in any of the 3 planes, it is the interceptor role for the F-35. I have said this before many times. The fleets that will adopt the F-35 as their single fleet type will always be tempted to let their partner nations take over that role with other types (likely SH and EF) rather than doing it themselves. Its just enjoying some of the generational gap advantages for now, and that wont last for long (compared to its projected service life).
  21. there is no endgame for weapon VS countermeasure.
  22. Like it has been said before, today we also have better countermeasures. It's not by accident the US navy has been lobying for a larger IR stick and all airfroces have retained the gun.
  23. Missed the the war over lebanon in 1982 with 80+ AA aircraft shot down. But Im really nitpicking here though. If we were to equip the sirforces just for the frequency these things happen, then we would be left with CAS aircraft only. ;)
  24. The current mindset may lead most to repeat post Vietnam lessons. never forget. :)
