Three position switch autopilot
tomcat_driver replied to Moxica's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Yes, but it requires third party software and can be unreliable. The best solution is to use the provided DCS keybind options like: Up = Path > Else Alt/Hdg Down = Alt > Else Alt/Hdg If your module doesn't have those you can wishlist ED to create these keybinds. You can also create custom keybinds if you can code some lua; there's a thread about this in the forums, but you'll have to search for it cause I don't have it here, sorry. -
If anything, my suggestion for improvement is to make Jester more adaptable and compatible to VAICOM and Voice Attack. It is really a pain to create a profile for it. I like the menu wheel. I cant dedicate enough time or brain power to DCS these days because of work, to memorize all commands and modules, so its good to have a visual reference. Things like changing menus are a pain, like Menu A press 1 goes to Menu B, but if lets says Bandit is locked, the same press goes to somewhere else. How do you code this in VA without enourmous complexity? Also, giving more keybind assignable commands, shortcuts if I may, would help a lot.

New AM5 build on the way

DCS has a built in FPS counter. Press twice for a detailed view. -
Better to keep it centralised at Github.

Installation Instructions: - Backup your current VAICOMPRO folder found in your VoiceAttack/Apps folder. - Delete the VAICOMPRO folder in your VoiceAttack /Apps folder. Launch VoiceAttack and exit again. - Unzip the contents of the zip file and move the VAICOMPRO folder into your VoiceAttack/Apps folder. - Launch VoiceAttack and exit again. - If you wish to restore your VoiceAttack profile and VAICOM settings, copy your backed up Config and Profiles folders to your new VAICOMPRO folder in VoiceAttack/Apps. - Launch VoiceAttack. - Launch the VAICOM config menu (L CTRL+L ALT+C) and open the “Config” tab. - Next to “Use Custom DCS Path” click the SET button and direct it to your DCS World install folder (i. e. Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World OpenBeta). - Move the sliders to match your DCS World version (i. e. openbeta / standalone). - Open the “Reset” tab and uncheck all but Lua code and click “Master Zero”. - Restart VoiceAttack and check the log that comes up, to make sure it finds your DCS 2.8 installation Last but not least: - Follow VAICOM's docs to finish configuring it for use. "\Documentation\VAICOM PRO User Manual.pdf"

I know @Bailey once offered help updating it if it would ever become open source.
-
GPL means that anybody, you, me, ED, an organized group of individuals can fork the source code and release a variation of software.
-
1. Someone updated VAICOMPRO official website. It's not definitive proof, but most likely him. 2. GPL License, including the source code. 3. The fix happened before the GPL license, so they're probably now working on integrating the fix into a new forked version of the software. 4. Check the Discord server for reports. Up to this point, it seems that all's working except for Kneeboards
-
GLP means that even ED can now fork it and integrate it into DCS Core. The possibilities are immense. This could give ED a headstart of a few years in its Voice/ATC overhaul development.

The website was updated as well, so yes. https://www.vaicompro.com/

The Comms Menu Overhaul is part of the grand ATC overhaul project. IMO, the first step, one that is prioritaire and long due, is the Comms Overhaul. It's desperately needed now that VAICOM is officially dead. Once this base is set, that is, the human interface with DCS through the new Comms Menu, then everything else will fall down into place in time and without need for rush. I would even say that the grand ATC overhaul project should be part of Grand Grand integral DCS Voice Interface project. The problem is that with the current system, limited by keybinds, you are always at some point, inevitably forced to press or voice an F-key: VHF Radio > ATC > F-Key to choose between variable various ATCs entities > Inbound.
-
100% This should be a priority. Especially now that we have more and more multicrew modules. The Apache should had been built from the start with that mind.

The thing with VAICOM is that it was really well done. Even the VA profile, making heavy use of wildcards, allowed for the sentences to be recognised from normal speech. For those that play around with VA profile, know that it's definitely not easy to create a good workable profile. And then how the software interfaced directly with DCS via Export.lua and UDP transport layer protocol to set actions without a need for keybinds. As an alternative, if ED could provide an extensive list of new keybinds for Communications Shortcuts, we could even try and use VAICOM's VA profile without the need for the interface plugin.

Vaicom no longer recognizes F-14 after DCS 2.8 update
tomcat_driver replied to Jayhawk1971's topic in VAICOM
The thing is that since it exists it proves that it is possible to improve the areas of the game that ED can't dedicate all its resources to fix. It means that the community can take on such tasks and make DCS better. It's just a shame that Holywood_315 closed its software and disappeared. It should had been open source from the start, with an option for "donations welcome". It's niche market anyways, don't expect to get rich. -
Vaicom no longer recognizes F-14 after DCS 2.8 update
tomcat_driver replied to Jayhawk1971's topic in VAICOM
If you can create a plugin to interface Voice Attack with DCS directly without keybinds, there's already Bailey's VA profile or the one I'm making that could be modified to interface with the plugin. -
This thread will be updated shortly. From the get-go, I'd like to request: SET COMMAND WITH VALUE: Datalink Set Host value = 0.0X will track unit named DLTarget0X SET COMMAND WITH VALUE: Datalink Set Channel 0.XX where XX is the two-digit channel number 300.XX 0.60 = 300.60 SET COMMAND WITH VALUE: Tune TAC value = 0.0X will track unit named TACTarget0X SET COMMAND WITH VALUE: Tune ATC value = 0.0X will track unit named ATCTarget0X SET COMMAND WITH VALUE: Radar Settings 0.1 - Auto 0.2 - TWS Auto 0.3 - TWS Manual 0.4 - RWS

Vaicom no longer recognizes F-14 after DCS 2.8 update
tomcat_driver replied to Jayhawk1971's topic in VAICOM
I've been doing exactly that for about over a month now. I won't say it is easy tho. If you need help, check their official forums. The main problem is how obsolete current DCS comms menu implementation is. If anything, the one thing that would solve it all is if all the commands could be binded to a keypress, this way one could skip through all the menu levels and simply create voice activated comms shortcuts. -
Vaicom no longer recognizes F-14 after DCS 2.8 update

I'm sorry to say, but this would happen sooner or later. Let's face it, it's an abandoned third-party software.
