  1. You can pull up the scoreboard to see the events that happen. If the AI quits, it states "AI abort mission". Which is either due to low fuel or when it hits you or if its hit by you or sometimes they also lose sight.
  2. Yes, there are PVE training servers, which are meant for training. They are rather easy. Which means you don't really need any skill, so don't be afraid. Nobody expects you to be an ace and most people are busy minding their own stuff. It's important to watch out for other planes while taxiing, I prefer to wait until it is safe to start rolling or take off. Don't forget your lights so people can see you. Same with the landing. ATC works on some servers, so use it. Apart from that... in the A10 you might want to get together with some other people who can protect you against enemy fighters. Most servers have a discord or you can use this voice talk mod thing. Rules depend on servers, but usually it's just common sense. On some servers you need to read first how everything works. I can recommend the 4YA servers (Europe), where you can just plainly fly around on your own and destroy stuff.
  3. I'm sorry but why do you need a track for this? There have been 6 people reporting the same issue (see posts and pictures above), so it seems to be a very common problem and should be easily reproducable? Edit: OP even attached a track Edit2: This is not the same issue as in the linked thread above, which was only about ground object shadows. Except this post, which nobody responded to. Is this one with the large dark areas of shadow reported?
  4. SU30 with AI Sergey in the backseat constantly cursing in Russian
  5. Not sure if it has been posted yet, but F18s crossing the road at Meiringen, Switzerland looks so cool
  6. You can set the wind speed and turbulences to maximum in the mission generator and generate some snow storms and time to night if you like challenges. Also include some random system failures in the settings. But that probably won't be realistic. As far as I understand, pilots want to avoid such flying conditions in real life, because it's too risky.
  7. I have a 980ti, which is sufficient for high+ settings @1440p with 30-55 FPS. At least here in Germany, the price difference for a used one is only 30-40€ to a 970. So def worth the upgrade. I find this to be in line with the minimum requirements for high settings (they state a 1070, which performs similar to a 980ti). I've actually started with an onboard CPU graphics chip with absoutely minimum settings and around 20 FPS. It was laggy, but I didn't want to wait for the 980ti. I could still complete some missions and learn to fly, some things were too laggy. But a 970 should be fine with medium settings. PS: There's no need for 60 FPS, just my opinion. There is no visible difference between 30 or 60 FPS. You will just have it easier, because you won't get FPS drops below 30 like with a lot of smoke or in complex missions/multiplayer.
  8. Same here with the too dark shades, especially in the canyons
  12. Looks like a Hornet in the video and he says later on in the video that the Hornet can pull 7.5G max. So I guess it's possible to still move your head around at 7G if you're trained.
  14. Weather IRL is so complex, that you can't even model it with a super computer very well. So I'd lower my expectations on what can be done with a flight sim... All you might get at best is some kind of probability that the aircraft is being shaken around a bit. I don't think this will ever feel like real flying for any of you real pilots.
  15. I was also thinking if this could be the problem, but then I would get LA much more often as soon as I'm in missile range, wouldn't I? But the LA range you get on the R27ET is different from the LA range on the R77. So I think it gets it LA from the IR/EO seeker and not from the radar.
  16. Thank you guys for your time so far! To me it looks like it comes off the rail as stupid, it doesn't even track from the beginning. I posted 3 encounters, which should prove that it doesn't happen very rarely, but somewhat frequently. Although it is hard to replicate. I certainly could post many more screenshots or try to create more track files. But I think the problem is clear. Now, while one can argue here if it is realistic that it randomly fails or loses track, it is my question if this is how it's programmed in DCS. Because I don't know how it is intended to work. From my experience, it seems very random if it hits or if it doesn't. Which makes it hardly usable, except as you said against notching or cold targets, but then you still need to get rather close. But heads on, sometimes it can track at very long ranges and then again it doesn't track at all. Maybe it should be more a question of why it even has such a long range if it's not usable anyway and if it should even give you a launch authorization if it doesn't track afterwards. Or if it just has a random failure programmed into it, it would be interesting to know how often it is intended to fail.
  18. no override, just automatic LA
  19. Finally managed to get it on track ;/ very difficult to reproduce against AI because I rarely get launch authorization heads if I'm not very close (very often the R27ET has the exact same range as the R73)... I don't know if that's intended. You need to fast forward to the 3rd encounter against the F15 as I didn't get to shoot the R27ET against the first two targets (as I said, the range usually is very small if heads on against AI). Also against AI it seems to track better. In multiplayer I get to shoot it from further distances more often. So it happens more often there, but the track files are so big that I can't upload them. On tacview it's frequently observable though. But I don't get why it happens. There is no reason for the missile to go stupid. It is as if the missile fails randomly (unfortunately not very seldom). 20. You mean Mig29S? FC3 comes with its own training sessions, small campaigns and missions which are great to learn the basics. If you wish to learn more about A2A combat in the SU27 and MIG29 I can recommend Sukhoi Gaming Channel. Also the DCS flight manuals explain a lot and are great to learn from. To compare them, it's best to fly them and find out which feels best. PS: On topic, I like the GR tutorials. They are very basic, but they teach you enough to get started. Also they make it fun to watch and enjoy the learning process.
  21. Same Tacview file, just shortly afterwards: Again launch authorization from the R27ET, but doesn't even bother to track against this F16:
  22. I'm having problems with long range shots against hot or notching targets with the R27ET. Even though I get a launch authorization, the missile doesn't track at all afterwards. It just flies in a straight line at it's altitude, no reaction to anything. This happened on multiple occasions on multiplayer servers. Since the bandit doesn't get a warning from IR missiles, there is no real change in course from the bandit, no flares, etc. Is this normal with long range shots and the missile is just not good? Why does it give LA then? Some kind of ECM by the bandit? Or is it a bug? I'm adding one example from tacview. Since this is from the GS server, the file is too big to attach. But you can get it from their server, the file is called "Tacview-20221112-175935-DCS-Server_1_Operation_Urban_Thunder_V7.1.5.zip" and you can see the timeline below.
  23. This mod looks really great, thank you! I couldn't use it in multiplayer though, it didn't pass the integrity check. (2.8 open beta)
