  1. Yes it does, that's why we have weather radars. This article explains a lot about it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_radar In WW2 this was a problem, but filtering the radar is what makes the difference today. I don't think this is modeled in DCS, but if so, it would only affect older planes.
  2. Ah you're talking about A/G, then forget what I posted Thought you meant A/A locking via helmet. But for both modes it's important to align the HMD for better accuracy.
  3. Here's from the manual, notice the important difference between how long you press the button.
  4. Try a slow speed dive with speed brake out and a steep dive down. I find that to be pretty precise. Slower speeds might help with CCRP as well, although I find it personally impossible to hit something precisely with something like cluster bombs. But the accuracy in real life might actually be like that, if you don't keep to a certain speed, altitude and angle.
  5. Yes because you use the IR seeker head of the missile to acquire a target and nothing from the plane itself. So the information is already all in the missile, it just needs the go.
  6. It's still being guided by the planes radar until it reaches a certain proximity to the target. Then it goes active, which means it uses its own radar.
  7. It doesn't seem to matter if you shoot any missile in radar or EO lock, because a radar guided missile will automatically trigger EORL mode when launched from EO mode and IR missile shot from radar lock seem to track fine most of the time. You should only get a LA on IR missiles in radar lock if the missile seeker head sees the target, but as we can see, this is likely bugged. On the other hand, if you shoot it with launch authorization override, even beyond max range, it might still track the target if it stays nose hot. F14 are very prone to that, because they think they can push you from far ranges and stay commited, while your stealthy 27ET is already on the way. Ironhand linked the thread with a possible explanation, but I'm not so sure about that. If you look at my tacview screenshots, they are shot with only a small offset. Likely not at the seeker limits (although I don't know what that number is).
  8. I've experienced this only on two occasions: Forgetting to reset the FCS before doing the test or pressing the FCS reset button while testing. Both will result in infinite FCS test that can't be stopped and FCS won't react to anything anymore after that. Which means you need a new plane.
  9. Shooting from a radar lock. But I haven't tried, if this can happen in EO mode as well
  10. From what I understand, higher degree of turn radius means the circle is smaller. But the F16 is faster in it's circle, which might make the difference. It then can exchange the speed to turn into the bandits circle. Also the F16 will accelerate to it's rate speeds faster and the Mirage is usually slow after using its energy for the max. instantaneous turns to sit inside the F16 circle and take snapshots. The curves are very different, which determines the fighting style of the aircrafts. The Mirage has very tight turns at low speeds while the F16 needs to be always fast. But this also means, the Mirage WILL get slow when it pulls the bandit into the HUD with tight turns.
  11. Es ist allerdingsder cage/uncage Button statt TDC depress, steht auch in den Kommentaren
  12. This is a very subjective opinion. But from what I can see since the patch, the AIM120s are finally tracking again as they should. Thank you ED.
  14. I'm having the same problem... Tried it two times now, but some sort of trigger seems to be missing. I shot down two F5 and then reported, but after that there's no end to this mission. I think the first time I flew around for an hour or so until everyone left and even the flares went out. (If you play this at night in a dark room, it looks really, really cool). One thing I noticed is that the SAM manages to shoot down one of the missiles. Maybe something isn't being destroyed that should be?
  15. Here you can see two Hornets landing, the second one raises the speedbrake immediately after touchdown, the first one doesn't. So it seems to be own preference, but I don't get why it shouldn't be recommended. Full flaps down and pulling back on the stick have the same intention as with the speedbrake: Maximum drag. Edit: in this video all of them raise the speed brake after touchdown:
  16. On speed landing is good Raise the speed brake after touchdown, pull the stick back and press the wheel brakes. If you are >33.00 pounds you will need to flare the aircraft before the touchdown, below it's not necessary. You should be able to stop before the end of the runway now
  17. What's your touchdown speed? Full flaps and speed brake applied?
  18. Sounds really great, looking forward to it. Thank you ED!
  19. I didn't reply to your post, because in my opinion this doesn't make any sense. If the target has AB on and I get launch authorization, the missile MUST at least fly in the direction of the target and not come off the rail as stupid. Even if he turns it off and the missile loses track, there will be a good chance that it can reacquire the track closer to the target. The F15 didn't turn away. Secondly, turning the AB off will not leave you as a cold target instantly. Stuff needs time to cool down. I dunno how far this is modeled in DCS. But it will take at least a few seconds or even more until your IR signature is lower. That said, I have changed my use of the R27ET and it happened rarely again since then. I'm using it only in certain situations now instead of just blindly firing it. Another reason why I didn't update this topic anymore. But as the post in the SU27 forum shows, this problem hasn't been solved. So it would still be cool to get some sort of reply from someone who knows how it works in DCS.
  20. False, I liked or thanked every post that was helpful. I also literally wrote thank you. But after a few posts there was not much new so I waited for an official reply, which never happened. There's also no reason to reply if someone explains something to me, I will just acknowledge it and press the like or thank button. And if it's not helpful, then I won't... Also no need to spam this thread with accusations.
  21. There have been some missile changes in the past year but that's about it from what I can read from the official changelogs. Maybe they do some unofficial fixes, who knows. But except the missiles, there's nothing about FC3 in the changelogs or I've missed it. Just to be clear, I don't think there is much that needs fix anyway. I love the FC3 package and it works beautifully well. Currently, in Air-to-Air-Combat the FC3 planes are way better than other modules (except the F-16 maybe). The R27ET and R73 are probably the best missiles in DCS at the moment. I just want to point out that there might be no official reply or fix to the issue in this or in my thread, because ED clearly has other priorities.
  22. This is likely the reason for what I experienced here: But I got no reply, so don't count on any reaction by ED. FC3 is pretty much dead officially from what I witnessed here on the forum.
  23. I think before one of the latest patches it was pretty okay. It just has to be between "the missile doesn't know where it is" and "the missile always knows where it is".
  24. Forgot one of the biggest - LongShot Many people comment on GS videos that they are not playing DCS, but they still like the videos. So I'd rather say it's a potential DCS community He got my into DCS as well.
