Better post the original footage. You can see and hear the pilot worked hard for this "kill" and the F22 did his usual shenanigans. But in the end, physics still apply and in such a low speed fight (look at the Speed), the Rafale is pretty good.

I've tested Kola a bit after buying it and it has the same problems as all DCS maps: Lack of vegetation diversity and unrealistic trees, water always looks the same, no edges/ridges/rocks and other details (polygon size is probably way too high for that), terrain textures are repeating itself, etc. In the north, there is also not enough water (lakes/rivers). You can see the empty basins from the satelite images. Looks good overall from altitude, but horrible on the ground. For Kola this much more problematic than in a desert map. Airports, buildings, roads, etc. look good in the high detailed areas though. All in all it's a good map for DCS I think, but I have expected a bit more. The current price is OK for that, but the full price would be a bit too high.

Good patch for sure, but still no MP scoreboard fix? Gonna keep us in suspense, huh

F-35A Announcement discussion mega thread.
TheFreshPrince replied to LimePartician's topic in DCS: F-35A
I wrote a lot, not mostly, be fair. It's never gonna be 100% accurate, that's just how it works. There's a reason why the flight models get overhauled like every year and people are then still discussing the performance of it and finding problems. Modelling MFDs and switches is one thing, but it's not a button simulator, is it? Same applies to weapons, we still have no real data about countermeasure resistance, etc. Do I see you complaining about this or do you just accept it? Let's talk about the Eurofighter, a classified, recent jet, which for sure will be not as accurate as an F-16/F-18. I see nobody questioning it or complaining about it. If you are in this game so long, you must remember, how the F-16 and F-18 were in the beginning? And how long it took until now just so they are maybe 80/85% accurate? Yet people expect a perfect, fully capable F-35 from the start? If this is the case then we will never have anything modern ever and can only stick to ww2 and cold war, which would be a pitty. -

Sorry, but DCS is in general not realistic enough that this is a valid argument. There's so much missing or simplified in DCS in general and even the F-18 or F-16 are still a lot of guesswork and trial and error. We don't know a lot about many weapons in DCS, but only few people complain about this. So a Eurofighter or F-35 wouldn't be much different from the guesswork we already have. It's a prestige project for ED and if it goes well, it might open the door for other aircraft, hopefully redfor ones. -
F35 before Eurofighter would be wiiild... The race is on!

Berlin looked pretty good in the video, nice work so far

I was wondering about the Eurofighter already and even for the F18 we still have a lot of unknowns. But every country with older jets is transitioning to F35s right now. Yes we are getting older models I know, but there is no way we are getting anything close to the real jet. It's capabilities will need to be nerfed by 20-30% minimum. -
So... Lots of dynamic campaign stuff. Berlin/Germany map. F35 is wild, will likely take a looooot of time. F15C will be super duper awesome, but I just read that it won't be released until 2026. Eurofighter probably same. Only looking forward to the MIG29 this year. What else? There's so much missing that people anticipated. I probably need Wags explaining the video or else I don't get it.

I mean things can change, that's why it's called "2025 and beyond" and not "what is DCS like right now?". Fair enough if people still would want to buy the maps, it's just my personal opinion that I wouldn't and I see no point in those maps without proper missions and campaigns... But lets wait for the video first and what it has to offer.

Some thoughts on the jet trainers in DCS (L-39, C-101, MB-339)
TheFreshPrince replied to Zius's topic in Chit-Chat
I trialed the L-39 two times and loved it very much. Flying by instruments "under the hood" is a crazy experience. It also provides a much better experience in what flying an aircraft actually means. But as you say, its capabilities are limited. And since DCS is a combat simulator, I prefer other planes. Maybe prop planes would be interesting as they are both combat ready and provide a "pure" flying experience. -
What's the point of having a map without the assets? DCS is not a landscape simulator. Fulda Gap was not a proxy war (cold war) scenario like other maps and scenarios we have in DCS, it was a full scale WW3 scenario. AH-1 is one big important thing missing since DCS focuses on air assets, but I'm sure it will come at some point. But we're also talking about massive tank and troop battles as well as nukes/ADM (zebra package). I recently was at an military exhibition in the Fulda gap region, which showed all the maps, assets, scenarios and the scale of it. DCS doesn't have the ability for such large scale scenarios. And I don't see the point of doing something on this map that I could do on any other map. Same applies to Korea or Vietnam. ED has shown napalm coming with Vietnam, cause it's obviously important.
