Good that the pilots survived. Costly incident, but at least not fatal.

Winter Sale 2024 | MiG-29 Fulcrum | Merry Christmas
TheFreshPrince replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
MIG-29 looking good! Still a long time till release, but it's gonna be a great module for sure. -
Yeah, it is if you are already looking exactly at it. I don't want a spotting dot, I hate those things. I would like it to be rendered as closely to what I would see in real life. Do those pixels look anything like that? You say it's super easy to see, but couldn't spot it in a still image. If I had taken a picture in real life in this situation, wouldn't you be able to see it? Why are the pixels only black, why is it so small compared to the trees, etc.

I exported this frame out of an uncompressed video, so it's pretty much the same as I saw it on my screen. I just cropped it slightly. I didn't see the fighter jet in game at all, although it was right in front of me at only 2 miles distance. That's why I'm posting it here. I dunno what happened in the last months, but the visibility is really bad (I have spotting dots turned off). Here is the enemy jet:

DLAA seems to be the only alternative to MSAA, because TAA produces massive ghosting for me. Unfortunately, you need an Nvidia RTX 2xxx and higher for DLAA. So all older graphic cards are basically useless in DCS as of now. MSAA really looks horrible. Especially clouds. horizons, etc. DCS pixelparty: Not sure, but the wobbling of clouds and fog is likely related to MSAA: FOG.mp4

There's still a lot from the last two videos that we are still waiting for. I wouldn't count on too many new things.

Just did a first test. Ttwo things: 1. The wobbling and flickering of the fog is sometimes really bad in 2D with MSAA FOG.mp4 2. My FPS drop down by a lot when fog comes into view. When I look at the clear, bright, blue sky, FPS are at 80 and it drops down to 35 or even less when I look at the fog. It does look good though!

What I notice from the video and GIFs in this thread is that you have to blast full AB in DCS to do any maneuver, especially the slow speed ones and you're still on the edge of falling out of the sky. While in the video it looks much more like mil power, sometimes even less (can't see any orange flames) and it still moves effortless. Something aint right there.

Unfortunately, it's not so easy to learn without the training missions It's a rather complicated plane (obviously, it's French), but very, very fun to fly. If you can get it for half the price, maybe, but trial first.

DCS Players Have Had Enough - A youtubers opinion
TheFreshPrince replied to giullep's topic in Chit-Chat
You might as well talk to a wall, that would do as much. Apparently they need money, so they sell everything as it is at maximum prices. But if you are already in DCS, you know you can wait for the next sale and you know what's worth it and what not. And as they said, with the EULA they don't owe you anything. So it's entirely your problem if you're not satisfied. Luckily, DCS also offers free trial periods for most modules, so you can actually test it before buying. It's a system that is somewhat unfair to new players, but offers some fair points to those who do some research or already know the drill. -
Got a screenshot maybe?

Head tracking (opentrack) breaks everytime
TheFreshPrince replied to TheFreshPrince's topic in General Bugs
I celebrated too early, yesterday it broke after 1 hour of playing and went stuttery. It is the headtracking, because the FPS are stable and when I go to F2 view and play around with the mouse, it's very smooth. But seems like I'm not the only one: -
New Opentrack 24.1.1 unstable?
TheFreshPrince replied to baldeagle611's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm having problems as well, although I'm using 2023 version and new driver for the PS3 eye cam. This is supposed to help. But it breaks sometimes and gets completely stuttery. -

You're all right, I didn't look at the DCS logic. Usually version numbers go by the first digit, but DCS uses double digits as well. So 3.0 will have to wait...
