It just took me 5 minutes just to open the game after I clicked on the launch button. What is going on guys.

I agree in principle. What you could do is get the 1080ti AND also test the 2060 from your daughter just for comparison. The 1080ti might be able to push 4x MSAA in 1080p, while the 2060 will be able to utilize DLAA. Then you can compare how it looks and decide. You will always be able to sell the 1080ti if you don't like it. It is probably THE best graphics card ever made if you look at the price/performance ratio and the durability.

I'm currently using a GTX 1080, which is sufficient for medium to high settings at 2K. But get 32GB of RAM and a good SSD, that's rather important for DCS. Also I want to add, that DLSS/DLAA, etc. is only available from 2xxx+ cards, so if you can get a 2060/2070/2080, maybe even 3060, that will make a big difference for not so much more money. Because MSAA sucks in DCS right now.

To learn the MIG-29 after the Ukraine war started was the reason I got into DCS. The FC3 was fun for sure, but this is gonna be a whole new level. Really looking forward to it!

You can already see that there are more used cards like the 3060ti or 3070 on the market after the launch, but the prices are not coming down. Probably reasonable to wait a few months. Unless there will be some tariffs shenanigans...

Breisgau und Freiburg sind noch drinnen. Die Schwäbische Alb, Bodensee, Allgäu und weite Teile Bayerns leider nicht. Kommt aber vielleicht irgendwann.

It's gonna be hard to model every city in Germany to detail. There are already sooo many details in the map, it's crazy how they managed to do that. I was born in Berlin, so yeah its not that accurate. But you do recognize many spots and that it's Berlin in general. There will also be a lot of errors due to the time they chose. Data from that area is not as detailed and accurate as data from today. I mean black and white photos were still the main thing in the early 80s. It will be impossible to create everything from such old photos, videos, etc. I'm a perfectionist but I don't see how you would ever finish this huge map if you wanted to get every detail right.

The German map coming this month will gladly bring new life into DCS, probably along with the dynamic campaign or whatever it is @BIGNEWY means with the "long await core feature".

Bug fixes are very important, but at same time you want something new to experience. Otherwise it's getting rather boring doing the same thing over and over again. That has been missing for some time now. I think it's what OP wanted to say. Also the expectations are high with lots of stuff promised to come.

And then there are those two scenes from the same flight: Tacview_2.mp4 Tacview_3.mp4 In the first case, the missile tracks the target very briefly, but then abandons its plans for no reason. In the second video, the missile tracks perfectly, but goes right through the target without exploding. There seems to be massive issues with synchronisation between clients as I'm seeing stuff that isn't there and stuff that should happen, doesn't happen.

I encountered this F-16 yesterday, which could not only survive two Sidewinders and my gun, but also keep flying without wings. The F-16 did not crash after this scene and I did not score a kill. It's multiplayer, so I don't have a trackfile, just this video: Here's the TACVIEW: Tacview_1.mp4 I left the part before the scene in so you can see what's going on. But as you can see, there is literally no aircraft there. It really was a ghost.

I have done a short research and can confirm this is likely the correct site as I found an article on this solar park that states that this site was once used as a rocket launch site. Just in case you didn't solve this yet.

I'm from Germany (born in Berlin), so pretty excited for this map. One thing I notice right away, that the waters in Berlin are too shallow and clear. Nearly all canals in Berlin are made for ships and are therefore rather deep and muddy. Only the lakes are clear. But I don't know if this is even possible in DCS, maybe it only has the transparent water. In that case you probably need to make them at least so deep that you can't see the ground. This also applies to Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, etc.

How did noone mention L39? It even has the IFR hood so you can't see anything except the instruments.

I have bought the Mirage in 2023 and the training missions were broken, so I just gave up learning it except the basic stuff. I don't think they fixed them since then. Dunno about the campaign. Yes you can start them, but not finish them and even the explained procedures are wrong and have been changed. There's a good guide to the Mirage2000 though (I think Chucks guide) and several youtube videos for the training, so you can learn it yourself if you really want to. AFAIK the module is fine right now except the listed bugs in the bug forum.

I think it's a great and realistic feature. But FC3 missiles then need to react to previously fired flares as well. If they do, it's kind of equal. No necessity to simulate lock-on problems as in the video above for FC3 planes. But what I don't understand is: In the video you can see that the seeker can lock on to the aircraft over a distance easily, but it gets more and more difficult when the aircraft gets closer to the point that the seeker can't lock onto the aircraft anymore. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Shouldn't the seeker recognize the heat from the engine and be able to differentiate it from a flare? But in the distance it should be a furball to the seeker and create problems?

Das GFM ist doch noch gar nicht veröffentlicht, oder? Das ist doch das, was ED seit Jahren als Lösung anpreist, aber gekommen ist es noch nicht. Angeblich soll es irgendwann dieses Jahr kommen, aber inoffiziell.

Bei WW2 Flugzeugen muss das auch machbar sein, ein realistisches FM einzubauen. Bei den modernen Kampfjets ist es leider immer nur eine Annäherung. Aber da kann mir auch niemand sagen, dass das selbe Flugzeugmodell als AI so viel besser fliegen kann als man selbst und man keine Chance hat, hinterher zu kommen.

Well there are different kind of formations. If you want to fly like the Blue Angels, you cannot take your eyes off your wingman even for a fraction of a second. You'll need to move the throttle as when you're landing, constantly back and forth and you will have to use a lot of trimming. You also cannot fly very fast doing this (I think they do about 300kn). It's also important that the leader is giving precise commands. Still takes a lot of experience and practice. But if you have a wider formation with some seperation and everyone is settled, your position shouldn't change much if you keep the speed and stick position and the aircraft is trimmed out. There is a user mission to practice formation flying somewhere in the forum. Edit: Just saw this is F16 forum, but same things should apply.

It's great to see that ED is releasing not only the map, but corresponding asset packs as well. I hope you will be doing the same for other maps like Fulda gap as well.
